  1. Assuming you had up to £2k ($3.5k USD roughly) which genuine watch would you buy?
  2. Re-alignment is a doddle with a hairdryer to loosen the glue on the insert, a bit of a twist, et voila!
  3. 1. Omega Speedmaster Professional 'Moonwatch' (RWG1) 2. Eddie Lee 3. Yes/yes It probably gets more wrist time then any of my others. It's had the 6 o'clock subdial frozen and been The Zigmeisterfied so it's good for many more years I'm rationalising my collection, going for quality rather than quantity. I'm having all the remainder serviced/modded as and when I can.
  4. Thanks for the info mate. One last thing - did you need a 'pin pusher' tool to remove the old one?
  5. Hi rsv, thanks for the info. Did it take long for Ofrei to send it? How easy/difficult was it to swap the clasps? Cheers.
  6. Yeah thanks, mine's the 42mm so shouldn't be a problem.
  7. Just wondering if anyone has replaced the clasp on their PO (42 or 45mm) with a genuine one? I'm thinking about it as the clasp on my 42mm rep has an annoying habit of popping open and isn't as secure as my SpdMP or SMP. Ofrei are selling them for $98. My PO is on a leather strap for the time being until if/when I get a gen clasp.
  8. Hi, anyone know the cause of the following? When winding the watch (a Swiss 6497 PAM 005) sometimes the crown will spin without engaging the gears,if you pull the crown out then push it back in then try to wind it makes a clicking sound then starts to wind properly. Is this an easy fix? ta
  9. Woh am I out of my depth here
  10. How many....? Bloody hell and guns too! Must be an American thing
  11. Cheers lads. Think I'll just have to access it from work, hey ho...
  12. Any techy types out there who would know why I can't access RWI from home but can from work/internet cafe? I'm in the UK on IE via Blueyonder broadband. Any help greatly appreciated
  13. Eddie is a top dealer. I think some people don't know how lucky they are to have access to the top dealers available through here, RWI etc.
  14. 63mm bejeesus!? Don't think that would fit under my suit sleeve never mind the shirt!!!
  15. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece!
  16. I've travelled to Australia, Hong Kong, Austria, Spain and Amsterdam in the past year wearing various reps (even had to put my 196 with ss/ti bracelet through the scanner as it set the metal detector off) without a query.
  17. Bad lume for me. I love to have a watch that glows in the dark. My PAMs have been re-lumed (my avatar is my 005 after Finepics had worked on it) and my PO has really good lume out of the box. Crap straps bug me, I know everyone swaps them out but you're then left with a draw full of moc crocs! I'm sure most people would pay a bit more for a decent leather strap as standard.
  18. I wear my Omegas quite a lot altough the SMP doesn't get much wrist time after the PO's arrival The PAMs get a lot of wrist time, except for the 196 which I'm debating selling as there is a 111 on the way (with Finepics for a lume and plume) Of the last 3 the JleC is a rare wearer but I'll not get rid of it, the two IWCs get hardly any wrist time and may go too. I think 6 would be about ideal for me.
  19. I know isn't it!
  20. Seconded. Fantastic work again Rob! This should be pinned.
  21. Yeah I was fascinated by the Apollo series when I was a bairn. I watched Neil Armstrong on the telly when I was about 3 months old!
  22. Well seeing it is Friday afternoon (in the UK now) I decided to pop into the local Panerai AD to see if they had the new 2006 catalogue in. This place is POSH, you ring a bell to get let in and inside is a temple of calm watch heaven! Luckily the assistant said they had a new delivery and handed me a lovely new catalogue see below propped up by me EL183 : He said you can sell this on e-bay for £25 as the Panerai afficionadoes are fanatical! I asked to have a look at a watch and he hands me a 111. I pleaded ignorance of the watch and he went through all its features while I mentally compared it to my rep version. My thoughts... Well on this brief occasion I could see 'in the metal' no stand out differences to our high end reps. The case was finished to in my eyes the same standard (what else can you do to 316SS?), the dial is identical, the movement to the naked eye is spot on (admittedly the sword regulator is a tell, but how man PAM WISs are you going to meet?). The strap was good, but not £100+ for an OEM good! All in all it was great to hold a gen and if I had £2400 spare I'd have one now, but blody hell lads do we have it good!!! Anyhoo to the sub-title of this tale; a few doors down is a jewellers that sells Omega, Brietling, JleC etc. Not quite as posh as the first but a good quality shop. I asked an assistant to see an Omega Speedmaster professional (probably my favourite watch and the one I will get a gen of). The only one they had was a 'Moon to Mars' LE. The assistant didn't know it was an LE, didn't know how much standard one cost and after taking my address to post an Omega brochure said 'I'll find out the price and include it with the brochure, it was the QUARTZ speedmaster you wanted wasn't it!' Sheesh! HAGWE
  23. Ahha! Well you learn something new every day!! Cheers Kenberg and Repaustria
  24. Eh? Must have missed that one! What is it?
  25. Thanks for the input folks I'll do the search and see what's what. Ta
