Hi folks, As you can see from my sig I'm up to 9 watches now and feel that 1 more will do for me (always just one more isn't it ) Anyhoo I do feel that I can only justify 1 more and any future additions will be after I sell/swap one of the others. So... is there anything you feel that's missing from my collection? (I'll post pics after the w'end) Any watches that scream for my attention? Over to you...

I received my 42mm Black PO with Orange 6, 9 &12 from PT this week and I'm very pleased indeed with it. I haven't got round to pictures, but the ones from Slartibartfast's post are so good I'm not sure I'll bother! Overall the quality is exceellent and up there with my SMP and Speedy. The bracelet lacks any polished links unlike the other two but it does make for a nice uniform look. However as has been mentioned elsewhere, the clasp locking mechanism is a bit femmer (ooops local dialect slipping out there - make that read flimsy) and not as good as the other two. If anyone has a suggestion to fix this I'd appreciate it. The crystal has a nice blue AR tint and the bezel is the proper 120 clicks. Dial is very sharply printed and the logo doesn't look too low to me. Lume seems very good, nice and bright but haven't really examined its longevity. Screw down crown and He valve both work well. The watch has a nice heft on the wrist, more so than my SMP. A quick on the wrist comparison with a gen in the AD dealer reveals no noticeable differences. I think the 42mm is a nice size and the 45mm would IMO be a bit too much and that's with PAMs in my collection Would I reccommend it? Yes indeed. Would I reccommend PT, again yes. Next day delivery in the UK is pretty damn good! I think this completes my OMEGA collection, I've been after a PO since the 1st generation reps came out last year and I've been biding my time ever since (very very hard), but I'm happy now and this will get some serious wrist time. My SMP will remain my beater, but the PO will be an excellent 'gannin oot' watch, with the Speedy for more formal occassions. Now when am I going to fit all the PAMs and the FAJones in...

Do any of you guys know if it's possible to fit gen hands and dials on the SMP and 42.5mm Planet Ocean? Has anyone on here done it? I can source the parts through Ofrei. Ta in advance for any help. M

That's one hell of a good deal! Good choice of the Moonwatch, an absolute classic.
-
Be careful when you freeze the 6 sub-dial the chrono mvmt is v sensitive. The Zigmeister got mine working again however. I've also got the 183 which has been lumed and the recessed pin replaced by PT and it looks the muts nuts

Wow indeed, once our guys start offering this 111 I'm in

Nope, piece of cake. Use a hair dryer on medium heat setting and play air over face of the watch, when the body becomes hot to the touch you'll find the glue holding the bezel insert (the blue ring with the numbers and indices on) will have softened slightly. Then whilst holding the bezel (the silver metal part with the flat and pointed edges) turn the bezel insert (only the blue bit) by pushing gently on the pearl with your nail. Move the insert round until you have the pearl lined up with a 'point'. Hold it there while the glue re-sets et voila! One re-aligned bezel.

Hmmm, tricky one... #1. Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch (borrowed photie) From EL, it was my first ever rep and has been serviced by The Zigmeister and had the 6 o'clock subdial frozen. It's a classic if not THE classic watch (IMO), the history that goes with the gen is untouched by ANY other watch. This rep, as BY-TOR in his excellent Omega guide, is a must have. The sub-dial spacing is off and the movement is wrong but to 99% of people it is not noticeable. The movement looks great through the display back. #2. Omega Seamaster Pro 'Bond Watch' From PT. Another classic that gets a lot of wrist time. Mine's one of the newer ones with screws in the bracelet - am I bothered? Nah, makes sizing it a piece of cake and if someone spots that then they are so much of a WIS they need help! I aligned the bezel with a hairdryer and a good thumbnail - 3 minutes work! #3. PAM 005 This one from EL and lumed and plumed by Finepics. With the other two this gets the most wrist time. Now sporting a DON chocolate strap and a correct case back from Davidsen. A boating accident proved this was waterproof A very close 4th would be my 183 from PT, again lumed and plumed by FP with another DON strap - black/black a classic dress watch and 99% accurate to the gen. FP told me it's one of the 183s with good crown screws so no stripped threads

Only once when I was wearing my lumed and plumed 005 (my avatar picture actually) and this was from a bloke wearing a gen PAM! I'd been outside and when I came into the dark pub the watch was glowing like a torch!!

I've added another watch to my collection (see sig). I loved the FAJ when it first came to light but the plain swiss mvmt just didn't sit well with the rest of the watch. When the decorated mvmt arrived I had to have one. Eddie Lee was the man, delivered to UK in 6 days (cheers EL!). The watch is classically elegant, lighter than my 183 and the white face makes a nice addition to the collection. The buckle is rubbish although the strap isn't too bad. Just one small Q on the seconds hand - it has a long end and an end with an arrow head, this is going to sound daft but would you align the long end or arrow head at 60 secs to sync the minute hand dead on a minute marker ? Cheers

I did the crown guard on my PAM005 with a washing-up sponge (the ones with yellow sponge on one side and green coarse material on the other). Seriously it really works. Hold the sponge still and move the watch over the sponge (green side) in a series of straight movements, gradually increase pressure et voila brushed SS!
-
Another quick question, what size straps do these take? I'm assuming the one that comes with them will need replacing?
-
Hmm, thinks I might be getting myself one of these. Thanks for the info.
-
I'm hankering after one of these. Could you let me know how the mvmt is holding up. Is it upto the Swiss 6497 standard for reliability? ta
-
111H with swan neck regulator. Or 005 - solid caseback so no worries about the movement, however make sure the 005 comes with brushed CG ps my Avatar is my 005 re-lumed by Finepics
-
My 183 lumed and plumed by FP or my SMP (bezel fixed), or my 005 lumed and plumed or my...Arggh ALL of them!

Rolex bezel change/realignment tutorial

I did exactly the same as TB. 10 secs with hairdryer on medium heat setting et voila! Piece of cake -
7 for me = 1473!

Well I used a pan scourer, the one with a coarse green side and yellow 'softer' side the results are below:
-
@ DaveR No its an EdieeLee 005
-
@TomB Well it was actually really straightforward and took about 15 mins in total. I firstly unscrewed the CG and removed it from the watch I blu-tacked it to the table to hold it in place and now for the technical bit... A washing up pan scourer!!! Aye that's right the yellow & green foam thing you get from the supermarket to wash up with. Use the coarse side (green) and pushing down hard make enough strokes in the same direction until you begin to see the satin effect, then just keep going in the same direction (i.e. not back and forth) then use the softer side(yellow) to finish off et voila! Cost = about 15p for a scourer and about 15 mins in total

You won't regret it. Finepic's work is superb. He lumed and put new pins in my 005 and 183 and my Speedy is in to get the sub-dial 'frozen'. Cheers FP! -
Thought I'd show the fantastic work Finepics made of re-luming my 005 which he did at the same time as replacing the short pin = no recess His work is spot on and he did the same for my 183 I decided to brush the CG myself as its an obvious flaw. What do you think. Apologies for the amateur photies...

Oh ok! Thanks for the info, I'll wait a few days and try again. Cheers

You'll need a 24x22 mm deployant strap to fit the deployant buckle offered by our good dealers. Don is a good strap seller http://www.homestead.com/rlx/DON.html You'll probably be able to get a buckle from a dealer or e-bay
