  1. Also a huge fan. Was frustrated about it yesterday, pi$$ed off in fact ... but feel a bit better about it today. I think a lot of us were looking for closure which never came ... but we should have known better. The is pretty typical of how Chase wrote the series leading up to this point. Remember the Russian who Chris and Paulie shot in the woods but never found? remember how nothing ever came of it? things do not always get settled with Chase's scripts/. It was a weird series that way.. not all the themes were carried thorugh. Anyway, when Tony entered the restuarant, and his family slowly came in behind, I was thinking we had finally come full circle and was impressed with the symmetry. Remember, early on Tony's father Johnny was knocked off in a family restuarant in front of his entire family. This was the first time I could remember the nuclear soprano family gathering alone in a restauant and I was just waiting to see that again, this time to Tony, especially with the camera focusing on the tough looking guys who were sitting around him. I am sure the symbolism was intentional ... a tease ... but i still do not get what the deal was with Meadow's feable attempts at // parking. Well at least this way they left the door open for a gala move event in 3 years or so!! It is always tough to end an iconic series like this without disappointing the faithfull. Some of the comments on the HBO website were very direct last night.. a lot of frustrated viewers, but I think that would have been the case no matter how it ended. Bottom line though is this was arguably the best written, best performed TV series of all time. When you really think about it, the ending could never have been ordinary .. and ordinary ending just would not have done the series justice.
  2. dude, really.. rep ambien?? you need to be carefull about what you ask for and what you are willing to ingest.
  3. I have one on my PAM rep.... it keeps incredible time.
  4. Ditto the Great White.
  5. Please re-red Danae's initial post. He is not complaining about a slow reply ... he is indicating that due to a technical issues potentially a down server, his messages are not getting thru I last contacted Silix on Friday, his e-mail was working fine at that time.
  6. you da' man
  7. Ok, so my new advise to you is to go with the G/F's selection, not withstanding my own personal preferance to wear the Omega. . Conside this a piece of relationship advise (not watch advise) from an old seasoned sod who has learned these lessons the hardway!! Never take your friends fashion advise over that of ur G/F. Life is too short man!!
  8. they are all nice watches but you want to go as subtle as you possibly can with blacktie small and thin .... vote for the omega.
  9. congratulations, it is a beautiful watch... i have thought about getting it myself. the major inaccuracy is on the dial, the placementof the markers on the dial is not as symetrical on the gen.,, for instace there is less spacing between the VII and VIII and XI and XII markers on the gen than on the rep. Still it is a nice piece.

  11. yeah but for $380MM he can always hire someone to find his pants and tell him the time.
  12. I cannot find it either, but I'll bet it is the solid 18K gold Franck Muller ...
  13. Ralph: I was handling that janitor job just perfect. Then that thing had to happen. And it wasn't my fault, Alice, it wasn't my fault. Alice: No. No, it wasn't your fault, Ralph. You were just doing an impersonation of two pounds of bologna in a one pound bag.
  14. nice ... the 029 is one of my faves.

    Heros

I doubt you'll be dissappointed with the final sessions ... I thought they were great. And yes, the series does continue next year Thanks, I'll check it out.

really? i kinda like the way they're setting the scene for a climatic showdown. I do think the prior season was kind of disappointing though.

Man, that show kicks a$$... For that matter the Sopranos is getting hot too.
  18. It is one thing to have a post the violates the rules deleted ... that is a fundamental moderator task (notice my use of elipse here Pug? I got that from you!) It is quite another to have a member post edited by a mod, or to have a member banned without warning or reason... or to have a post deleted that does not violate the stated laws. Those were the probems I had with RWI .... out of control mod(s) This admin team on this board does a first rate job of tending to the posts. I would swear that several of them never sleep in fact. I belong to a few other (non watch) forums and can attest to this being the best run one.
  19. Great shots!! I agree with you ... as much as I love my UPO (and I really love it) the 42MM size is ideal for me. BTW, your excellent reviews of both are what prompted me to get them in the first place.
  20. Saw a coupl;e of mice JLC's with ETA's on Silix's site as well. Very reasonably priced: http://silix-prime.com/cat.asp?catid=122
  21. Sorry, but I do not agree with that. Of course you will never have a guarantee that a pre-inspected watch will not have problems, but I certainly believe you improve your odds all other things being eqal. Granted, you can never predict with certainty how inheritently problematic movements will perform over time, but you have a better shot with the cosmetic and functonal aspects ... such as the markers being be glued on properly, the crown working properaly, the crystal not exploding or being scratched even getting the right watch, etc... And I think that is the best you can hope for with reps. I have said this before ... When at all possible I intend to give my business to the dealers who inspect the goods before shipping ... even if it means waiting longer for the watch or paying a bit of a premium for it. I also feel good about supporting smaller dealers... I think it helps to keep as many dealers in the competitive mix as possible which in turn assures high quailty products at reasonable prices. But that is just me. I can appreciate that others have long standing relationships with dealers who drop-ship. Whatever floats your boat.
  22. I hadn't worn it in a while but this morning I was looking in my watch case and decided hmm... I have not been able to take my eyes off it since. Simple, sporty yet in a way kind of elegant. Mine is white numerals, black strap and a nice deployment clasp. Sometimes when you go back to a watch you've been neglecting you appreciate how nice it is and remember why you bought it in the first place. Really put a smile on my face.
