  1. well, i do have a poker game planned for this evening...
  2. It looks like the 14th is the best day for most people.. if not you, speak now or forever hold your... whatever it is you are best at holding... anyway, mattlarry, can you providea bit more detail on the club you referenced, i.e. name, location, etc... exactly what is a "naked sushi bar" (sorry about being so stupid) For those who do not eat sushi, i understand they also serve steaks.. is the cuisine a problem for anyone? Jetons' idea about little italy is a good one too.. in addition, i have an aquaintance who ows a few resturants in the NYC.. I can approach him as well.. Thanks, Edd
  3. i am confused about why this thread was bumped. is he back? using the same handle or a different one.
  4. right. something like that would never happen in another port of entry city.
  5. my guess is they sell them to flea markets and local vendors who pawn them off as legitmate to unsuspecting consumers.
  6. welcome back btw...
  7. Nice! I love this watch and you did some fine work their son...!
  8. Honestly, I think it depends on where you drive in the US ... I HATE driving in South Florida and LA for instance merging is like a contest. Midwest is pretty civil though don't laff, but although NY and in the Northeast generally, is congested I find people are better at adhering to informal rules of the road than they are in other places, especially with merging. One from the left, one from the right.. repeat... I have also driven in a few German cities (pretty civil actually) and Italy (absolute chaos in Rome and Florence, and the Tuscan countryside) but not in France or the UK so I will not comment ont those countries.
  9. just re-read number 5 "... occassion of sin..." LOL... ahh the good old days... some of my best sinning was done in the backseat of my old ford!!
  10. also, and i hate to sould like an idiot, but what is a 'naked sushi bar'?
  11. a gen aquatimer with a rubber strap retails for about USD 4200, but can be had for $3400 or so on the net. add about $800 - $900 if you want a ti bracelet I am sure you know this, but you can get a nice vintage 5513 for USD 3100-3500 or so, although I know it doesn't fit your requirment for functions. You can also get vintage GMT's for a few hundred more. I am not a huge breitling fan but i love this vintage watch listed here for USD3100 (first one listed): http://www.watchtime.com.au/breitling.htm I saw a version with a two toned bracelet and a gold case recently and it was stunning.
  12. it is a very nice watch, but that is not the point
  13. received my UPO from precious time. my recollection is that he was having it shipped from his supplier to himself (along with other orders he had received) in order to QC the watch. Can tell you emphatically that my watch was shipped to me from the UK not Asia, so he clearly acted as an intermediary. I assume he OC'ed it as well It took a bit longer to than most of the other deliveries i have received but i was fine with it because i was assured i was getting an inspected peice. And I STILL sure that is it was I got. So, I am not sure if it is a common practice for him, but in this instance I was very happy he went the extra yard and more than willing to wait the extra 2 weeks or so. And I will do that everytime I can.
  14. so let's start picking a date. Please PM me with your availability from 7/10 to 7/15. We'll try to accomodate everyone.
  15. agree the CN placd won't work for the GTG ... I was thinking it as another place of interest... ok, i gotta know.. which restuarant are you referring to in little Italy? I
  16. dude, i know a GREAT chinese restuarant off canal street. probalby not suitable for a GTG but if you are going to be in town for more than one day, I can send you a reference. Jetsons has been there as well.
  17. I have!! It is a nice place... a bit loud but that shouldn't be a problem. Kind of a french bistro nothing spactacular but a good kind of in between place and well situated. . I think they take reservations too. Is this ok with everyone? I agree with Kruzer's comments on a steakhouse. A good one will at least $75-100 per person all -in, maybe more.
  18. who has the best SUB - forum
  19. Well it looks like this has finally been put to rest. And they said it couldn't be done. Congratulations to us all!!
  20. "bampots"?
  21. sure, i have been to several the only one i would stay away from is Bull and Bear. There are far better steakhouse's in NY. Whitehorse Tavern. Let's first figure out what we want to do.. nice dinner perhaps! If we are into steak I would recommend either Sparks or Palm. If we want to drink aferwards, how upscale do you want to go? Local or fancy? Let's get some opinions... I also know a great sake bar if anyone is interested...
  22. Paul has this posted on the collector thread. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry262717 Advertised as an automatic eta 2892 movement for $199. Am I missing something or is this "Little White Lies'" redux?
  23. An erstwhile chum, Slay, will be visiting the NYC area between July 10 and July 15. We would like to take advantage of his visit and schedule a GTG within that period. So far, several members have expressed a desire to attend, depending upon the dates Please let us know if you would like to attend, and what your preference on dates is. Thanks, Edd
