Not so fast. The EU is a MAJOR importer of Gulf Oil and is forecasting growth in import rates of up to 29% by 2012. It is the number 2 importer of Oil globally even after accounting its own productin from the UK, Norway, etc.. In otherwords, the oil produced in those countries is not enough to compensate for the need. <H2 class=title>EU oil imports set to grow by 29% by 2012</H2>Posted by Euan Mearns on October 3, 2006 - 9:30am in The Oil Drum: Europe Topic: Demand/Consumption Tags: consumption, eu, oil prices, peak oil An oil production, consumption, import-export model for the 25 EU states (plus Norway, Iceland and Switzerland) is presented, based on data published in the 2006 BP statistical review. Applying a 0.5% growth in consumption and a 8% production decline rate points to EU oil imports growing from 9.8 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2005 to 12.6 million bpd by 2012 - an increase of 29% over the next 6 years. The EU will have to "fight" for these additional resources in an oil import market already hot with competition from the USA, China and other developing countries. http://' target="_blank"> The European Union The European Union, with a population of around 460 million, consumes over 15 million barrels of oil per day and is the world number two oil consumer after the USA. This article looks at EU oil production and consumption with the aim of establishing future import trends and EU energy security. A recent report has highlighted the fact that EU energy imports are rising and this is happening at a time when Russia is tightening State control over its oil and gas assets. solution to being part of the oil security problem.

I hear ya. I mean I do keep abreast of this crap, but still I try to approch differennces about religon and culture with an open mind. Still I wasn't born yesterday, and I know there are some cultures and institutionalized actions that are indefensible.. clearly this is one such culture and action. It just seems like everytime I think I have heard or read it all, something like this comes up, and it just blows my mind. And that Moron Prince pointing a finger at the western press implying the people of Saudi are being vitimized by the reporting of the incident is equally galling and deflating.

Hate to be the lone dissenter here, but I have also seen the gen new version YM up close and personal... i kind of like it... Don't get me wrong, there are others in that price range I would choose over this one, but still, it kind of grows on you. I think one of the problems is managing up to expectations on what people think a YM should look like, but I do think it will catch on as people become more and more used to the design. Of course, I used to own a chevy corvair, so what do I know?

The Results - New Super Sea Dweller Super Test & Review
eddhead replied to themuck's topic in The Rolex Area
I am stunned and gratified at the effort that went into this review. This is a real service to the board, and you are to be commended for it. Someone mentioned this previously, but I will reiterate. As far as I am concerned you are the coolest kid on the block. -
Not to over-simplify this, but based on the observations of our resident movement guru (which are certainly good enough for me) , it seems that he relevent considerations are: -All 7750's (Asian and ETA) will require service every 3 years or so. - Once an A7750 is serviced it runs as well as a serviced ETA 7750 - A7750's require service out of the box while ETA's probably do not. This means over the life the movement, A7750s require one additional service relative to ETA 7750's - The Servicing any 7750 is about a $200 job Therefore the breakeven point is $200. If you buy into the notion that a serviced A7750 functions as well as an ETA version, you would logically pay up to $200 extra for the ETA version. Anything more than and it is not worth it. Anything less and it is. I am sure this is stating the obvious but I wanted to address the notion that it shouldn't matter because all 7750's will eventually need service. While true, remember the Asian versions need one additional servicing over the life of the watch.

With great regret....I'm giving up selling replicas..!

not quite sure what to make of this but if you are leaving it is a huge loss to the community, not withstanding the unacceptable racially biased epithats subfixing your recent posts. . (I realize that the many half-truths that show up on colletor websites are blatent but generalizations that target an entire ethnic group are wrong and offensive, irrespective of what that group represents) Getting back to the initial thread though, as a collector you represent the ideal. I see you as a watch enthusiast who for reasons of pride, integreity and love of the trade and product would never sell a sub-par piece.. Someone who enjoys collecting first and dealing as a side-light. At least that is my impression Only bought one piece from you, but I got exactly what I paid for .. a well finished fairly priced and quality controlled noob. Can't ask for more than thaty. Did (do?) plan on buying additional pieces from you though. I hope you continue to post. You sure do make it interesting. -
HI George. .question.. how does a dealer who is not authorized get access to new pieces? Not sure if you know the answer but if you do thanks. Frankly this has always been a concern to me when considering purchasdees from Alan Furman and the lke.

First and foremost, congratulations! You "sound" genuinely juiced about the new job. It is really nice to see someone so excited about starting a new career opportunity. I answered with the 3717 but had the same questions as many of the other members. What is the attire? For business casual, I think any of your choices would do. How much client interaction will there be? How are you trying to be perceived? As an authority, colleague or consultative client advocate. To me thos all enter into your decision. In the end, I would go with one of the IWC's. They come accross as being sporty but elegan. The Chrono functions communicate a sense of technical appreciation which would seem to be important to a person assuming your position. The strap on the 3717 gives the watch a bit of a dressy posh which might compliment well dressed business casual look, but that GST is awfully hot. Just my 2 cents. Again all the best!!

For people who wondered what ever happened to Finepics (Mark) >
eddhead replied to babola's topic in General Discussion
You know, that really is an excellent point... who DOES give a rat's ass anyway? I agree with V Barret on this point.. attempts to warn the risti are likey to be met with contempt.. "if you bought a fake you get what you deserve... blah, blah, blah..." Considering thet they hold that attitude about Rep owners, why should we care about protecting their interests?? Let them eat cake, or Bring back the Gullotine or something like that !! EDIT: I am registered there as well but never use the site anymore.. the holier than thou crap is out of control.. please understand I own both Gens and Reps but i cannot stomach that stuff. -
Happy returns, gentlemen!

wonder if they will do a titanium version

I completly agree with this post. The watches you selected are quite elegant in thier simplicity these are fine choices. If I had to pick one, I would go with the noob. Second choice would be the PO. Next would be the Tag. And you can occassionaly find a very nice used ETA powered simple (no extra dials or chronos) for 100 - 150 or so.. in fact i just picked one up. Stick with a respected and well known member and you will do fine Best of luck to you.
-
unfortunetly that is hard to argue with.
-
that is too bad, because that was funny.. i am still rolling.
-
doing great.. got one or two new ones including a gen aquatimer i picked up in hong kong. coming to NYC again?
-
Bill!! How the 'ell are ya man!!
-
not sure i understand why you take issue with this. I think all 3 threads were funny... sad, but funny...

I think you made the wise choice. I am far from an expert but the dial really does not look very good. There is no detail or depth to the markers. 5513 dials are beautiful.. the markers are offwhite and on the year gilded. they our outlined very subltly and gold. they have a lot of depth. To me, the markers on the dial you are considering is too flat... one dimensional and lacking in detail. I would not pay $100 for it.

Thanks. I have purchased a couple of omega straps from Jay as well, but I looking for a tt toned braclet for my sub. also interested in looking at bezels. Someone posted a link a while back to a site that looked promising, but I lost it, and have not been able to locate via the search function.

was at the airport last nite waiting for a plane when i met a guy with a tt gmt 2 in the bar... the new one with the ceramic bezel. knocked my socks off.

a short time ago, someone posted a link to a site featuring an after market dealer who had good prices on gold plated two-toned bracelets. I have searched the site for the better part of the last week but cannot seem to link. if anyone remembers, pls pm me or respond. thanks.
