  1. Yes, they have my measurements from my last visit to HK which was in 2006. Basically, I told him how to adjust for the shirts, and to send swatches so I can pick fabricks for the suits. I was very satisfied last time. We'll see what happens this time.
  2. I also use a custom tailor for some of my suits and dress shirts. the person i use is located in HK and ships to the states. The suits are made from the best fabrics, italian wools super 200's real good stuff. The shirts are tailored to your build and needs as well, but you need to send the measurements still you can get a Seville quality suits at a third of the cost, or at least you used to be able to. The site is jantzentailor.com. It has been a while, but I just ordered some shirts from them again, and asked that they provide swatches for suits. Waiting for them to come back. Will let you know how it goes.
  3. after returning from many months leave, i m heartened by the continual and consistent nature of the non posting posting action on this thread. brings a tear to my eye.
  4. Belated Thanks. I have been off the site for a while dealing with things that are probably best not to get into at the moment, but needless to say, I miss the comraderie, dialog and information exchange. Hopefully, I will be able to participate more fully shortly. Belated thanks again, and apologies to those I wanted to keep up with and failed to do so.
  5. I would not be surprised if they are already sold out given that the new Stadium opens this year. Your best bet may be to try stub hub http://www.stubhub.com/new-york-yankees-tickets/ or a broker.
  6. I have stayed in W's in New Orleans and Chicago and have had mixed experiences. The Chicago Hotel in particular has both excellent and poor rooms. It is like a coin flip as to which type you will get. I have not read the reviews on Trip Advisor, but I do wonder if some of the criticisms are the result of the overall feel and style that W's attempt to achieve. They are not like Hyatt's or Hilton's .... Classical designs, bright rooms, etc.. The W's are trendy... almost dark and hip. They feel more like a NYC lounge or hip cafe than they do like a hotel Also the Time Square W is in close proximity to at least 9 subway lines and 1/2d dozen buses. When you are at the W you are no more than 20 minutes away from just about any place in NYC. The Best Western is not as convenient to the city as a whole but is it not exactly out of the way either ... just about every location in NYC is convenient .... but perhaps not as convenient as midtown if you are looking to see the whole city. Still, The Best Western it is in a really cool and trendy location and IS conveniently located to other trendy locations. You can walk to Soho, Nolita, Little Italy, The East Village, and China Town ... all really cool spots. You can even venture to Canal street and do some funky watch shopping (right Frank and Slay??) if you are into lower quality goods as a kick. I really like that area and I do not think you can go wrong. As to the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, I am not sure which one you are referring to. There are 2 on 6th ave in the 50's, not far from Central Park and Rock Center, and Radio City. Also very convenient, in the heart of midtown, near a couple of good subway lines although perhaps not as many as in Time Square. . These hotels are more geared toward business travelers than either of the two others, although at least one of thee two also sells time sharing. I have never seen the rooms, but the lobbies of both are pretty nice (I have been to functions there) Hope that helps
  7. You could say that. He should drive around in a tank or at least with body guards. Great watches.
  8. sounds good to me!!
  9. That GST is a hot looking watch. No doubt the best Ti rep out there.
  10. his Let me get this straight ... you're indignant because his low-end rep devalues your high-end rep. And people on this board want to know why Rolex is so protective of their brand. I mean are kiddng?? Do you see the irony in someone participating in this trade bemoaning low-end reps and calling out the people who wear them??
  11. I am in full work out mode, spending about 1.25 hours in the gym, half of it cardio, half of it weight training. Than I hit the road with my new bike 10-15 miles a day. Been sleeping pretty good at nite. Temperature in NYC has been in the 70's - 80's for about a week now, sunny and low humidity really beautiful riding down by the Hudson cutting across town to Columbus Circle and finally doing laps thru thru Central Park. Sometime I head east to the east river and ride along there as well. It has been awesome. Really, you can't beat it.
  12. ^ obama wants to raise taxes on the upper 5% of wage earners and provide tax credits to the middle and working class. In other words he wants to roll back the Bush tax cuts and go back to the Clinton tax code which was more progressive and placed a higher tax burdern on the uber rich.. We didn't do so badly under that code. Just because Karl Rove says it, doesn't mean it is true. McCain, as much as I respect him, scares me. He is very hawkish, not just in Iraq but globally, and I think he sees a very active role for the American military during his administration. He has no economic policy to speak of, no healthcare policy, and has reversed himself on a number of the initiatives that constituted his 2000 presidential run that left people thinking he was independent minded. I have no doubt we will be fighting someone somewhere under McCain. He is also 72 years old. I am also very concerned about who gets appointed to the Supreme Court under the next president. It is likely that as many as 4 vacancies will open up.
  13. OK,so I am not going to get sucked into another political debate here.. I am already posting on too many political/ news forums for that .. I just do not have the stomach for another one. I do want to correct one thing however. Barak Obama did not change his name from Barry, his formal name was always Barak, Barry was a nickname he picked up during his youth, presumably to better assimilate into mainstream culture. Actually, his nickname in high schools was "Barry O'Bomber" and was a reflection of his basketball capabilities and his jump shot in particular (Rick Barry being a famed US basketball player known for his jump shot). Once he entered collage, he went back to his using his formal name. Those of you who are not familiar with his story might want to learn more about him. Here is an interesting article from Newsweek that provides some background http://www.newsweek.com/id/128633. His first book, Dreams Of My Father is also an excellent reference. Some interesting facts: = Obama was raised under very modest financial circumstances. His's estranged father was Kenyan. His Mother was a white american from kansas. He is half caucasian and half black african. = Obama lived in Hawaii until the age of 6 and than moved with his mom to jakarta where he spent much of his youth. While in Jakarta he lived under very modest financial circumstances. Yet he still managed to thrive both academically and socially. His story is an inspiration ... not quite rags to riches but pretty close. He has a very compelling story to tell about succeeding in the face of economic hardship and identity struggle. = He returned Hawaii in high school where he lived with his grandmother. As you can see he was raised by his white mother and white grandmother. the race of his mom/grandmom matters not at all to me i would support him if he were purple. but I make a point of noting his mixed heritage and upbringing and to counter those who feel he is somehow racist or militant. I hear that a lot. The fact is his diverse ethnicity and life experiences make him the perfect candidate for our times. He is a perfect mosaic. His father was Kenyan, his Mom part Hawaiian, the grandmother who raised him thru high school was white midwestern from kansas. = Not that it should matter (it shouldn't) but Obama is not a muslim. He is christian. It embarrasses me to point this out for several reasons as I truly do not think a person should be disqualified for public office in this country because he is muslim. sadly, not everyone i meet shares that view. = unlike his opponents, obama does not accept poltical donations from PAC's and Industry lobby groups. He has raised about $250MM thru a largely internet based grass roots campaign. This means large political donors will not have undue access to his administration. there is a lot more i want to say here, especially to the one or two non-americans who feel they possess an almost monopolistic right to opine on us politics and geopolitical policy while offering nothing but mundane throw-away lines. For the record, these are three very qualified candidates anyone all of whom have the potential to be great world leaders for different reasons. Even McCain, who I absolutely do NOT support has my respect and admiration. it is one thing to offer constructive criticism, but it is quite another to refer to a whole nation of citizens as 'stupid'. The last point is especially important to me ... moen
  14. I have been told that some of the highest quality reps are along 47th street in the diamond district where they also sell new and used gens. They are not on display, you have to ask for them I do not know this first hand though.
  15. Thanks, I will look into them.
  16. Picked up today and logged about 15 miles. Temperature was in the high 80's so i worked up a nice sweat. First time I was on a bike in about 20 years and it felt great. Anyway, I picked up 2 very nice locks as well, one of which (with the chain) seems to weigh as much as the bike itself. Thanks again for all the great advise.
  17. Thanks Nanuq, I appreciate the advise.
  18. Once again thanks to everyone who offered advise and suggestions. I finally got around to doing some research and I THINK I have decided on a bike. Can anyone comment on the TREK 7.5 FX hybrid? http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2008/road/fx/75fx/ I test road a bunch of bikes this week and this one felt real good. Great ride which I am told is the result of the carbon forks. Light weigh, shifts well good speed and acceleration and handles superbly at least based on my very limited experience. Comments appreciated.
  19. Well, I'll say this for you The Zigmeister, your posts certainly do attract a crowd. A few months back when you took a brief break, someone observed that you are the heart of this forum. I don't remember who it was (sorry) but I thought that was appropriate and concise. I never took your comments to bed anything but those of a man of integrity who is truly committed to his art and to ensuring members got value for their money. But at the end of the day, this is a hobby, not a livelihood. To me, the test is simple. If you are not having fun than it is not worth it ... life is too short. When you feel ready and you miss it, maybe you'll be back. Please look me up when if and when you get back to NY. All the best.
  20. Precisely. There is a reason why we have laws that protect children from adult predators. A 13 year old's mind is still developing and as such lacks the emotional and psychological maturity to cope with adult situations. I am sure this woman did not intend for the girl to die, but she did manipulate her, and her conduct was nothing short of depraved and criminal by any civil standard.
  21. Wow. Let me repeat the genesis of this story. -The person doing the teasing was a 50 year old woman, posing as a teenage boy making romantic overtures to a clinically depressed 13 year old girl -After flirting with this girl for weeks, woman, thur her alter-ego, broke off the 'relationship' spread confidential stories about the girl to her friends and than suggested that she kill herself. -The woman was the mother of another 13 year old girl who was former friend. The girls had a falling out, and rather than staying out of it the Mother decided to exact revenge on behalf of her daughter. And you fall it douchy??? Are you kidding me??? A 50 year old woman psychologically manipulates a clinically depressed 13 year old girl to the point where she commits suicide, and you do not think that constitutes criminal indifference. How about sexual misconduct??? Suppose this 50 year old woman were instead a 50 year old man who invented the alter ego, flirted with the girl on line for weeks, than betrayed her confidence, and encouraged her to kill herself. Would that change your perspective???
  22. I just read about this story today, I have no idea why I did not pick up on it sooner. I am absolutely speechless ... I cannot Imagine what this woman was thinking about. The genesis of this story is 2 13 year old girls, who were close friends, drifted apart and began to say rather 'catty' things about each other. In other words, they were 13 year old girls being 13 year old girls. The mother of one decided this was unacceptable and took it upon herself to get involved by developing a false male personality on myspace and thru that personality made romantic overtures to the other. The Mom, thru this fictionalized personality than dumped the girl and began circulating cruel stories about her at one point telling her to kill herself. The girl, already being treated for depression, took him up on it and committed suicide. I cannot understand why parents think they need to get involved in personal disputes between teenagers. Sure, I can understand the temptation, but Jesus, you can only shelter your child from peer fights for so long. What did this woman hope to accomplish? Was it really that important to get even with a 13 year old?? I try never to wish bad things upon people .. I think it is bad karma, but I am having a hard time not hoping she goes to jail. What a horrible story.
  23. Done. Good Luck and congratulations. Your son is beautiful.
  24. Wierd. The AD I go to says eh-tah so that is how I usually pronounced it until now.
