So you can get 'rep' HGH?
-
Ahh but Dr. Cranium, it is likely true that the 10% chemical inspiration enables the 90% perspiration.
-
Just did a couple of Who songs. This is really awesome. Thanks for the tip!

As far as i know, the rep was never made with in Ti. Mine is a gen as well but has the rubber strap. I am wearing it today in fact!

^^ where? I have a 3719 and I would love that I would love to get a TI bracelet for, but not for what IWC sells it for.

@ FxrAndy: That Blackbird is gorgeous.

Usually the E train ... sometimes the A or the N R or Q When I am feeling especially extravagent, I hop into the yellow car with the funny letters on the side and the weird prodtruding sign on the roof....

There are several Patek Complication and Grand Complications that I like quite a bit. Just not enough to spend $80-150K on though

The other point is that no replica is a 100% representation of its genuine counterpart; they all have flaws. The determination which flaws are least important from a funtionality perspective or by appearance is a subjective excercise. What is important to me, may not be important to you. That is why you are best served by looking through the site and drawing your own conclusions. Start with some of the excellent pinned reviews, you will be amazed at just how detailed they really are.

I am fairly certain that at least some of the watches I have that are supposed to be ETA's are indeed ETA's because I have had them serviced by a pretty reputable watchmaker who confirmed as much to me. This includes my UPO, and 4th gen PO. I also believe my 2892-3 PAM 029 from EL is also legit. but I have no basis of knowledge, just EL's word. Most of these were purchased several years back. Given some of the more recent horror stories, I am not sure I would necessarily vouch watches that are purported to be ETA today. Mayybe yes, maybe no. Point is, most of the 10 commandments posted by the OP are probably true, but also well known by almost all of this forum's regular members, who as a rule tend to be extremely knowledgable. Certainly, anyone who would invest the extra funds in an ETA is likely to no the ropes enough to understand the risks. There are documented cases on this forum of members not getting what they paid for, but they I tend to think they are the exception rather than the rule. I am not excusing it, just stating my observation. QC issues on the otherhand is another matter.

What I find most discouraging are bad deals and scams perpetrated by long-standing members with multiple hundreds or thousands of posts. In one recent case, a member with more than 1300 posts who had been on the forum for years alledgely scammed another member out of a significant amount of cash, purportedly accepting payment and never shipping goods. For those of us who consider this place a virtual community, having a trust broken by a long-standing member is heartbreaking. You try to be selective with respect to who you deal with and than that happens...

Sounds like you may have still been dreaming ... (KIDDING... I am just kidding...)

Day-Date II SS Ice-Blue Roman Concentric Dial A3156 Best Edition
eddhead replied to mickeytzan's topic in The Rolex Area
Funny, I am wearing one today.. purhcased from a trusted member about 3 yrs ago w/ white dials and Roman Numerals. Not sure who the original dealer was. Puretime indicates watch is 41MM. Isn't the Gen a 36MM? My rep is 36 EDIT: nevermind, DDII is 41MM (sheeplishly backs out of the room) -

Man, is that ever good advice. We overthink some of this stuff to death sometimes. -
My advise is to be very careful with this; I am aware of at least one scam where a perspective tenant arranges to rent an apartment from a con artist portraying themselves as a broker, makes the payments, even signs what they beleive is a legitimate contract only to find out the would be broker was not a broker, never had the apartment to rent in the first place, and obsconded with the funds. The tenant shows up at the building , the apartment owner has no knowledge of the arrangment and the tenant is turned away empty-haned. This happened in my building. How long do you plan on staying, and what part of the city appeals to you the most? If 30 days or more, I know of a number of reputable short-term rental apartment type facilities that cater to business people. They are a bit pricier than residential dwellings but less expensive than full-service hotels.

I guess my point is that regardless of what you call it, I like the watch.
-
You know, initially I believed I had a v3, but after re-reading toadrurrent's excellent review, I now believe it is a V2. Not that it matters, I guess, This stuff will drive you mad if you let it.

V3 ain't too shabby either. checked out a gen at Tourneau a while back. I am amazed at how true to form the rep is.

hate to be disagreeable but the best chinese food in NY is in Chinatown or in Flushing. In Manhattan, try Yea Shanghai Deluxe on Bayard St. There are two locations, one on the corner, the other half way down between Mott and Bowery. Both are good, but the second location is better. Try the Pork Soup dumplings (with or without crab), they are a specialty of the house. Burgers: - Rare at the Affina Shelburne Hotel at Lex and 37th. - DBGB at 299 Bowery has awesome burgers and one of the most impressive beer lists in the city - Shack Shake at Madison SQ Park is excellent but the lines can be over an hour - 5 Napkin Burger on 9th and 44th has the most eclectic selection including Lamb burgers. It is a bit pricey though. Pizza - Lombardi's on Spring Street is a sublime experience - Grimaildi's on Old Fulton in Brooklyn (under the Brooklyn Bridge) - John's on Bleeker Street EDIT: Dinosuer is excellent, but the best bbq in NYC is on 11th ave and 46th in hells kitchen, Daisy May, it is off the beaten path though.

I bought a MAC book for myself and a comparably priced Dell for my girlfriend about a year ago. At first blush you seem to get a lot more for the money with the PC. The Dell is comparable in features to the MAC pro, high resolution screen, 17" screen, back light keyboard, nice feel, and desktop software. Similar memory, processor, warranties etc... I am not an expert on this but it seems to be that the problem is taht when you buy PC you have to deal with windows. Vista out and out sucks. In comparison, OS is a horse. I have added Virtual Machine and Windows software (including Windows XP) to my mac so I can emulate a PC when I need to. The VM is only about $75.00. Vista and office package are of course more, but it gives you the flexibility to have both a PC and a MAC on one machine and you can even run them concurrently if you want to.. Works for me and anyway.

Received my custom shirts from Jantzen last week and I must say they are better than what I remembed in terms of quality of material and fit. Can't beat them for the price. Also receivedd two very nice pair of cufflinks for under $40 a piece and swatchs for suits. I am looking for a dark brown with Charcoal undertones but the swatches he sent me make it hard to discern. I need to contact him. Still, the quality and workmanship on the shirts is still first rate so I am assuming the suits will be as well.
