This is the dial that came along with my dsn case a couple of months ago. I was thinking of filling the indices with something I was familiar with and I talked about it with Kilowattore. White and brown shellac mixed with sandarac resin as a hardening agent. I tried different methods to fill the indices, and my experience was that the good old French polishing was the easiest and I had a better result with, if not the best. It's still not level with the upper level, still, I'm gonna keep experimenting. The typical French polishing exercise on a small surface such as this leaves a thin layer each time I pass over inside the indices and removes some paint from above the dial due to the alcohol content and friction while leaving again a thin layer of material. Both ageing and filling can be achieved at the same time. Lengthy still successful process. The pics show the result. Again, remember that there is still some more cosmetic work to do. Yeah, I love them too. What I have seen so far in the build threads was that most of the builders tended to leave out the pics from the early stages and jump to the final product either because of laze or boredom, for some reason. Mine turned out naturally so, and I believe in the power of visuals rather than the power of words. So, I opted for more pics and fewer words. I think this is more informative and show the shear effort, genius in inventing new solutions, and the like. I know the maesters here or in other fora have put thousands of hours and have incredible experience. They love to share these too. I deeply appreciate them and admire them. The next step will be to machine a whole case out of a JBWeld blank. One may further try to make a mold from JBWeld using an ss case, pour some molten solder in it and make a case[emoji51] This is really an instructive, inspiring and entertaining discussion. Seriously Check this out. I used a soft temperature resistant engine sealant, they call liquid gasket, something like that, on my daily diving wearer, since I can't find the original o-rings anymore. Couldn't agree more [emoji3] You see, this is my first modding off experience out of a completely different base, fantasy rather than a Franken, after case shaping of the two classics. I'm very excited, as I have lots of things to care for and invent to solve. I'm lucky the watch making is one of the best standardised industries so I can find most standard parts easily applicable and compatible. You're right. But again, the true sizes for reps not even for the gens are exactly true. So though there are lists, drawings and stuff if we can find one the only way to find the true match is by trial and error. I bought from cousinsuk this particular one. A pack of five for three quids Rolex Gen. Bezel/Back O-Ring Gasket (29.325.10) C8412 This is on the gaskets list for this particular case.
