  1. Sure, bring it to the AD. They will ship it to Breitling for service. And say bye bye to your watch.
  2. You can still contact him, explain your doubts shorty and ask about current lead time and shipping method. when shipped with registered and tracked mail chances for loosing parcels are less. you can also check out the watch boys. http://cgi.ebay.com/FOR-IWC-Alligator-straps-18mm-19mm-20mm-21mm-22mm_W0QQitemZ350302659130QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518faa623a
  3. there is no way that there will be a completely full sweep. it is just the way of the specs will say. 21.600bph movements give you 6 'ticks' per second. 28.800bph give you 8 ticks per seconds. simple as that. So it will always be 8 little ticks per second and that is visible to the naked eye. If you have a movement with the seconds at 3 or 12 or 6, the movement of the seconds will be even more jerky because of the extra placed gears between 9 and the desired place of the seconds subdial. But if the movement is a bit dirty in places or not properly lubricated, than the seconds sweep can be more jerky. just my 2 cents.
  4. Most reps are waterproof to around 3-5bar/atm. That is NOT 50 meters. It is also not enough for swimming diving. Just to get wet. Although many members do swim with reps. Reps with screw down back and crown are most waterproof or with pam crown guard. Reps with chrono pushers are less waterproof. the pam112/000 will be quite waterproof. specially if the cg is able to push the crown quite tight against the case, closing the rubber gasket well. My pam243 was tested this week for waterproofness this week up to 7atm. That is good enough for swimming. Since reps quality differ per watch it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to test each individual watch if you intend to swim/shower with it. Regular jewelers that have a repair service can do this testing. No need to let that be done by guys like Vac or Zig. A pam000 or pam112 for instance can still be done within a budget. Let's say 200usd for watch. 150 for lume en cg modding. 70usd for T48 crown and installing. 75 for service, 80usd for nice strap. 575usd. you can calculate how much is that in GBP. Some models have already high cannon pin, so not always the need to have more expensive high cannon. pin.
  5. You may also go for a A7750 based model, but those are less reliable UNSERVICED. And servicing will add to the price and will go over your budget if you also want to have it modified. And if your want to get a better strap, better order the rep with a rubber strap. Always useful on hot days, pool, holidays... Cheers!
  6. My next will probebly be a pam156 ultimate. That one will need relume, better strap, T48 crown, cg modding. Already having fully modded 249, 252, 243, 177. Had 253. The Asian 6497-2 is a pretty solid movement which is not worse or even a bit better than the Swiss ETA 6497-2, ONCE SERVICED. The Zigmeister reviewed this asian movement and came sort of to this conclusion. I always let the 6497-2 movements serviced as it makes them run better an be more reliable and servicing a 6497-2 just costs around 70-80usd. Servicing a A7750 will get you somewhere around/from 200usd. Don't know The Zigmeister current pricing. My watch smith in Holland charges 175euro for 7750. About the sandwich dials... Are you aware that the panerai sandwich dial models are not very 1:1? You might want to read this thread started by RWG/RG member Unregistered: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=91659 So if you want to have a reliable and relumed panerai watch and with a nice strap, I would choose 1. Asian 6497-2 movement 2. Relume by Vaccum or The Zigmeister 3. T48 steel crown from member 'T' while they still last or wait for new palp crown from member opcrown 4. Service by Vaccum or The Zigmeister 5. Strap 6. removal of AR coating, or if 2 sided AR, removing of top coating 7. crown guard pin modded, making it flush and crown guard lever less floppy. for this several DIY are available on this forum or on Repgeek. But beware... it will take months before your project is finished. You may also look out on the forums for a used modded watch, since those also come around or you may want to make a WTB thread.
  7. clearly you still have a lot to read on this forum if you think he is not a member here. Use search function.
  8. Since last year I have bought 3 straps from him, also reptilian, and all arrived in around 5-7 weeks. Dealing with him was ok and good short communications. Weird it is though that he is able to make custom made straps for new customers and does not deliver to other people.. One thing for sure is that we don't always hear his side of the story.
  9. Do you think the 253 is worth the investment for swapping to ETA? It does not even have sapphire, but just mineral... Second, the crystal is a big risk. I had at least 5-6 crystal explosions with the pam253. For me it was the reason to sell my fully modded 253. Good luck.
  10. Most good watch smith's that can service ETA 7750 can also service asian 7750. But you need to find a good watch smith. And yes, you can try Zigmeister. My own watch smith charges 175euro for Asian 7750 and 225euro for seconds @ 12/6 movements. I think Zigmeister is more experienced with Asian 7750.
  11. I get pushers from my dealer all the time when they fall off. Happened with several models already like Hublot, IWC, TAG, etc. Never a problem.
  12. Maybe I misunderstood, but if your screw is scratched, you can first brush the scratch out and then polish it isn't it?? That is what I would do first.
  13. Great guy, great product, great professionalism, great asset to the forum. And let us not forget that! Just payed my T crown. For a spare for a future projects, while T crowns still lasts...
  14. INDEED! SAME OPINION HERE...
  15. you can also get a better relumed dial from DSN. than you're done with the dial. maybe he also sells cannon pins. other flaw is the crown. you could go for a ti T crown. And since the watch is 4 years old and is Ti (easy scratching), you could really use a brush pin from the watchboys. (you can find them on google or on ebay).
  16. Well, do you care about the case back, because it is not visible on the wrist.. typical mods what you can do is indeed, a relume, install a better higher cannon pin (the pin on which the hour and minute hands are installed). You can also mod your crown guard. the pin is not flush. it has already the correct color, the pin. because the pin on this model should not be brushed, should not be polished, but should be matte. can use sandpaper 600. and then buff it very light with cape clod. Of course doing this after you made the pin flat so it can sit flush in the cg.
  17. Well, even some people on ioffer advertise with it. But when asked if they can really supply it: negative. And also my regular dealer cannot supply it and he can get the same as Andrew can get. The pam24 without the stripes on the bezel is already not available for a long long time. And I don't think it will be made again in the future. Because if the factory needs to choose between a new ultimate model to make or the 24A, they will choose for the new model, because it has a bigger market, instead of us repgeeks and rwg members who really want one bad. And the fact that you can add it to the basket on Andrews site does not mean anything. Many dealers have unavailable items on their site. You could still ask him though, because I was always wondering if they still had the cheaper 21j pam24 available, so that the bezel could be used... ATB.
  18. I guess you did not get it what is all about with the pam024A. the watch in the link you showed is no longer available. And all/most people who have made a 024a, used to have the cartel 024. They just polished the bezel. that is it. If the one in the link was still available, there would not have been such a hype about the 024A, because then it would still be available isn't it...? Cheers.
  19. yup, Kruzer's got something going indeed, vintage, pre-v projects for 2010.... And for being almost a year away... your posts Mr. Madasboot are also still of great value. I copied many of your stuff in my project list on how to make a nice 6152... I still wonder what Kruzer is going to do with the dial. Maybe letting someone CAD it as well? who knows...
  20. In EU probably Dominico, but you need to source your own good date wheel if you want that changed.
  21. Yes, i even think that Zigmeister commented on this one once, that once being serviced (the seconds @ 12) that then everything is fine and that the overall construction of the modification is quite good.
  22. Hey there friend, Yes, wishing you all also the best for the coming holidays. And let 2010 be the year of some nice new reps and projects, specially Panerai! Cheers!
  23. Lucky for you my friend. Many of us had to bake them in the oven.
  24. this is what I copied from an old Madasboot posting: You can achieve an old look by submerging the hands on heavily concentrated salt water for a week, let them dry for a couple of days and then repeat the process but instead of water use vinegar (white and not red wine vinegar).
