  1. Probably QC. As mentioned, this also affects Gens too, will get more gen and rep pics up. You guys are a demanding bunch
  2. Main difference I've found is the bevelling on the edge of the sapphire is thinner and clearer on the gen. For the dial, it may be a shade lighter but in terms of sparkle similar however this is heavily dependent on the ambient lighting so its quite subjective. Never noticed the numbers so do report back R2.
  3. The numbers are glossy and mildly raised. I mean a hairs' width raised. hmmm...the rep game really aint for you. Glad you are enjoying your gens.
  4. hmm...need to go back home and check the dial. I honestly can't remember, but don't think its was flat as in in-line with the dial. The dial does shimmer slightly, not luminescent as in "glow-in-the-dark" sort though. I think the cabochon is slightly off tilt but other than that, the crown itself is fairly close to the gen. Not too sure what you're referring to. But there are minor differences in the gens I've seen, not all have the sharp S-shape outer curve. Or are you referring to another area?
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkerizing Interesting read
  6. hmmmm....what might this be? Could it be? PVD? That lug shape looks awfully familiar. DLC from avitt? Now that starts looking a little different from what I expected. Ok...that ain't no PVD/DLC Panerai. Alas my friends, you are correct it is but a simple Anonymous brand from Florence....i.e Anonimo Firenze I went and got myself an Anonimo HiDive OxPro "A" Hybrid with Millemetri dial. LE of 499 pieces. I got an offer from my dealer that I just could not refuse and since I've always been a fan of Anonimo, just not their prices, I thought why not. On to the pictures: Comparison vs. a Panerai 111I When I initially bought it, I was a little put off, I thought it was too small, a little too thin. However, the longer I have it on, the more I love. That's even more true once I slapped on a Zulu 20mm strap for it (I need to buy a 22mm for it shortly). The only thing is, this has very little space on the lug side which will be an issue for thick PAM style straps And of course, a lume comparison shot. Fully charged, 1s exposure Absolutely loving it! Now the thing is, I don't know what the difference is between this LE HiDive version and a normal Polluce OxPro besides the dial having those 3 extra emblems? And an additional note on the OxPro process from Anonimo themselves;
  7. If its from my gen vs rep picture, please note for the gen, the base of the seconds hand is extending over and covering the base the of the minute hand, that's why it appears that the gen has a smaller/shorter lume area when that isn't the case. Have yet to open the DVD
  8. Could you enlighten me about the minute hand vs gen? I can't see the difference. Its got the same grey to black sheen in different light, looks to be the same size and length and thickness+bevel. Got this from Hont
  9. I'll see if I'm in the tinkering mood to pop the caseback and see what movement is in it. Havent tried mucking around with the straps though I am in contact with HKTan to potentially make a navy blue alligator strap for it.
  10. Just received it and took some pictures of the unboxing. Wristie on a 6.75" wrist Impression: Amazing. I've had the old WBK version as shown in my previous review. This is far and away light years ahead. Amazing quality, it feels gen, period. I may or may not do a review shortly based on the photos I have. So far, I've not found any blatant tells. The leather strap is very decent. Not gen soft, but decent. Lume on the hands is surprising good too. hmmm......don't think I will be doing a review...nothing much to review?! The bevel of the sapphire is a little thicker on the rep, but we're splitting hairs here.
  11. The amazing and much sought after AP ROO. I've finally gotten around and picked one up. With the Sec@12 modification to the A7750 movement have made this replication a true masterpiece. Also with the plethora of limited editions that AP has released for the ROO series, the chances of being caught out is also quite slim. That said, with any replication, there are flaws. Most of you know my review system, and in truth this piece has been reviewed countless times before, so I'm just adding to an already large database of reviews. I personally was looking for a blue strap white faced watch and initially was set on building a PAM114 with a blue leather strap, then chanced upon the gen Navy Themes. This was a limited edition issued by AP of 4 nature themed watches supposedly. Front 1) The tip of the crown extends a smidgen too far out as compared to the gen. The color of the rubber crown and pushers is also off. Being of a lighter shade of blue rather than dark navy. Add to this the quality of rubber is quite shoddy, easily picking up dust and leaving dusty prints behind after being touched with your fingers. 2) Date window is too far to the right by 0.5mm. This should be inline with the "2" & "4" and the is the biggest most obvious tell 3) The dial is a creamy and shiny white. Closer to the Safari model than what the gen requires which is a pure matte white dial 4) The colors of the numbers on the dial are off as well. Too light a shade and should be a darker navy. The subdials are accurate though. Dial 1) Just overall finishing, the gen is flush with a slight concave to the hex screws in the bezel. The rep is a smidgen down and you can see QC was a little off as a bit of cloth is stuck in one. 2) The chapter ring is brushed and to shiny. The previous issue of a shiny creamy dial is obviously seen here. 3) Color of the numbers already mentioned 4) Color of the dial 5) Text printing on the gen is sharper and the 5 is a slightly different font Side I personally could not spot anything significantly different from the overall case shape Lug 1) Being anal, the depth of the screw is off Other than that, very close profile Crown 1) The AP logo though close is not as finely engraved and the A is missing a serif at the tip 2) Another flaw is the thickness of the caseback. The rep is 1mm thicker than the gen 3) Not illustrated is the that the pushers on the rep are inline with the rep due to the A7750 movement being used, which is an integrated chronograph movement. The gen utilises a chrono module which results in the pushers being above the crown. Caseback No real tells that I can spot except the originally mentioned thicker caseback. Buckle 1) The profile of the buckle tongue is thinner than the gen, though the engraving is accurate overall. 2) The cutout in the A is bigger on the rep than the gen and less sharp. Wristie Wristie shot on a 6.75" wrist. Conclusion Well it has its flaws. Some of them major, some very minor. Most are inherent across all the different ROO replica models. Overall it still is a beautiful piece. What must be said though is that I would definitely also mention the movement. A lot of discussions have been made about it and I would say the general consensus is to get it serviced and modded as soon as you can. I personally will if you want to keep this watch around for a long time. It certainly has a lot of wrist presence as can be seen above. Glamour Shots
  12. PeteM, I would be completely surprised by this if they were different in all but the minutest way and would definitely call into question what they said. Finishing perhaps, shape, very questionable. klockind1: Believe what you will. I ain't trying to force my views onto anyone. Dealers can say whatever they want to. Members can as well. All I know is, the two CGs are almost identical except in finishing and the pin. i.e. both are flawed for Pre-V/H series PAMs but better than what's out there.
  13. OP may give them different part numbers but visually in the hand they are identical unless I start to need glasses. Also no big mystery for manufacturers to give the same part different part numbers on different models. klocklind1: Many people including myself have physically compared the Seadbo and TB together. They are visually the same CG except for the pin and finishing, which the TB is slightly better. There is a similar thread to what you posted right here on RWG red: Yes brushed.
  14. Both 111 and 000/005 CGs are the same. TBs CG is the same as Seadbo except its pin is smaller. i.e. its also got the same flaws being too thin.
  15. Yup, not really a mod, just tap it down gently, or with a jewellers hammer which has one side which is nylon plastic. It's meant to be flush. Older Pre-V have it sunken in a little
  16. Guys, this is nothing like what VdB and the rest of you lot do. But it's been a while since I built a piece and ever since seeing projectologist's 3646 Cali and the rest of the members, I've been obsessing about doing a sandwich dial lume job on a Cali. So what started out as this: is now this: I've lumed the top plate directly so that it's in line with the rest, and going by photos of gen 3646s and even current 249s, it looks to be similar, whereby there is some sandwich action going on; I haven't reshaped the case nor stamped the crown yet, I may or may not do so, cause unfortunately, in the past weeks as some have noted, I've lost some spark for watches, but I am glad I've finally completed this piece. Furthermore, Nightwatches fantastic thick casebacks don't fit this case at all, a bit too large. So that may be going up for sale soon, unless I decide to get a DSN caseset, which at $170 is a little steep. Anyhow, more pics for everyone; With its brothers; Lume action baby!
  17. Whats with the green tint on that crystal? And is that a 082? After seeing and holding the gen, no rep does it for me now. The dial is vastly different.
  18. I personally quite like the sunken subdial. Quite nice. I know Mattuss has an issue with the sunken datewheel
  19. agree about the lug shape, but for best out of box, DSN really is the only place to go. Cartel Ti offerings are shocking. May throw the 240 in there as well if the bezels are ok now.
  20. Removing and putting in is easy with the presses available. The issue though is the gaskets tend to become unusable after they've been pressed out and you need new ones. I've got one watch which has water pressure issues due to this and I can;t find replacement gaskets.
  21. I couldn't stand DSN's mismatched white hands. Really really were irked by them. SO I relumed them. Unfortunately I tinted them a tad too much, but I actually like the results. So here is my 201a; DSN case DSN dial relumed hands with Noctilume Seadbo CG Oncyte crown (nice rounded edges) DSN caseback with paint removed at some points Gunny Caitlin 2 strap Novesh springbar GPF-mod buckle IF FGD does another run I'll swap that dial in, but man I'm happy now.
  22. Got two lovely presents yesterday in a day full of ups and downs. My long awaited Donerix box came, packaged well and covered in stamps, though unfortunately some damage did occur during shipping. The clasp broke and one screw came loose plus the hinge looks a little wonky now. But overall, it's a stunning box and I love it. Next came 3 straps from our great strap smith Gunny. After trying on a few at the most recent Singapore GTG I straight away went ahead and ordered 3 from him. One Caitlin 2, one 74 and one Verdi. Donerix Box I love how the words are stamped in there. Some may have issues with the off centre wording, but I love it. Broken clasp, real pity. Thinking of how to replace it. Lovely chequered sides. And in all their glory Franken 232, Gen MM20, 201a, DSN 040 and LH 111I First the 74 Caitlin 2 Verdi My they sure are purrrteeeeh
  23. Hard to find cartel crystals mainly because no one sells them. You can't order them as a part from anyone. The few that have been included in builds have been from parted out Ultimates or broken Ultimate PAMs.
