  1. Great job folks and excellent pictures as always. Do any of the collectors say if the factory waterproofs this one out of the box? I know Andrew has said there is a DG2813 powered version that uses the same case...but is this same case and dial confirmed to be the same as this version? An excellent read to start the morning!
  2. I actually kind of like this one. When I see pictures of it...it doesn't float my boat that much, but when I saw one in person in the wild...I really had a new found respect for it. The green and the polished sections add a certain interest to what would normally be a very understated typical Rolex.
  3. Indeed. Count me in somehow Lani!! Leave it up to the King of Class to think of this while I was busy scouring the Watches section hoping to scoop someone on the next deal. Thanks all 'round to the Admins, Mods, and Contributors who keep this place great!!
  4. If you already have a collection, we look forward to hearing from you!! Who did you end up buying from...how's the quality...etc? There are quite a few great folks from Canada here. Welcome aboard. You just found yourself the most knowledgeable watch forum around. Period.
  5. Good choice piece...that's for sure. This is one of those pieces that IMHO you can't go wrong no matter which current version you get V3/V2...
  6. Heh heh...I'm not a huge fan of them...same as the new Ball Diver...but they are still interesting reps that's for sure. I'm surprised the Ball Diver doesn't seem to be getting any positive reviews in terms of style from the RWG crowd. The UN is definitely gathering more interest.
  7. Excellent. It's a great buy...one of the best in my opinion. What colour dial did you get?
  8. That happens sometimes. I have a few posts I thought would have generated more interest...but in the end didn't. The collection looks good!! I need to get a winder!
  9. Beautiful. Now you have nice hour markers...outstanding.
  10. Thanks for that...yeah...I was making a big assumption there about the super cheap one...and not the Asian copy of the 2836. I was going to clarify that but you beat me to the punch. As much as I'm all for Swiss powered watches, for this thing, I'm thinking of the El Cheapo DG2813 for $148 (or something like that I remember seeing...someone can correct me on this). At less than 50% of the Swiss engined counterpart...it is highly disposable. Swap in a $20 CDN DG4813 and you are set. It would take 10 movement swaps almost (assuming you do them yourself) to equal the price of the Swiss version. I was just thinking these exact same thoughts. The diameter is not too bad at around 43mm...but the thickness is about the same as the Skyland and the Super Avenger which in reality...is thick. I have skinny wrists, but fairly large arms so I usually have to wear these kinds of watches close to the smallest they go and in spite of this don't feel they look grossly large on my skinny wrists. I would agree that if you had second thoughts about the size of the Skyland...this one might not be for you.
  11. Generally not the tellers...but mine the other day had a vintage Omega on.
  12. Very nice. I think the Di Modell straps are a hidden treasure. Great quality...decent price and it will great on the sub. Congrats.
  13. In the past, hand size and dial posts for the movement are different on the 2. As well, the date progresses differently on the ETA movements compared to the DG2813...so it's bit more involved than you would think to go from Asian to Swiss.
  14. Heh heh...so harsh. I'm not a big fan of the case design...but the brand diversity is interesting. Again...that's more what's interesting...that and the use of the internally rotating bezel like the IWC Cousteau Divers series. I was not a fan of the Longines Hydroquest...too much like a cross between the Tag Aquatimer and the IWC Ingy font for me.
  15. The usual 4 have this new release on their sites...
  16. How can I disagree with the 'Berg? Looks gen...but hard to say for sure without a dial close-up...and especially without the back removed.
  17. I never thought I would see a Ball watch replicated, thinking they were too much of a niche market WIS item...but lo and behold, the big 4 have announced the A7750 powered Engineer Master II Diver Chrono: Angus' Rep Picture Gen Angus' Rep Picture Gen I think it looks quite interesting, with an internally rotating bezel like the IWC Cousteaus. The big shortcoming on this one is that the gen uses tritium gas vials hence the LED style numbers...while it looks like the rep uses painted lume. Here's a close up of the gen tritium tubes: The pearl is way off on the rep...but to be honest, I think it looks better than the gen. Who would have thought???
  18. I've never thought twice about whether or not a potential candidate NEEDS a job when considering them...in fact I couldn't care less if they were about to lose house and home when it comes to determining qualifications and I know you were saying that they have to meet qualifications first. But, if given multiple candidates with the same qualifications, I would certainly look next to "fit" with the organization more than I would their "need" for the work. I care about whether or not they have the qualifications and experience, that they can work appropriately with the client group I'm going to throw them at, and if it seems that they will take the job they are interviewing for seriously. If they show up to an interview in a t-shirt and jeans...that's a big strike against. If they dress professionally, all the better...but even that still means squat if they can't do the job. I've never thought twice about looking at the wrist bling on candidates, because people receive these things for a variety of reasons...finishing a degree, getting married, passing the bar, inheritance, lottery, whatever...and to me in no way even indicates a need for a job.
  19. LOOOOK OUT STEPHANE...that slope is slippery... I pretty much feel the same way about EVERY watch Lani pictures.
  20. Don't think...just do. I always wear a nice watch for interviews...it has only failed once in 15 interviews...something must be working. As well...the job is for a bank with a commercial portfolio...don't even think twice about it.
  21. I couldn't tell you how accurate this one is as I haven't spent too much time in awhile looking at the POs. I tried on the gen chrono and found it was too big for my wrist..and stopped looking. It looks good though regardless of how accurate it is. You have been a busy shopper!!
  22. Buy in bulk!! Glad to hear it worked out. Excellent stuff and great pics!
  23. Welcome aboard. There are a lot of great members here from Canada. Read my Noob Guide linked in my signature and you'll hit the ground running.
  24. Well done Lani. That ratchet bracelet is wicked.
