  1. True about the volume. It has to be one of the most talked about and posted about reps I've seen in awhile. I'm not sure if even the Slevin or BP compares. It's certainly the most posted Breitling. How do you think the PVD will hold up to scratches and wear?
  2. He only has it with the rubber strap as well...no bracelet. I don't know if he can get the rep leather either (smooth or croc grain). This might be what triggers me to get it.
  3. I'm not in tune to the different oils to be honest...just going by what I've read here. Another The Zigmeister quote found in this interesting discussion: "It takes up to 6 different oils and greases to properly lubricate a watch, there is no way that applying a film of oil over the whole movement does it any good" What those oils and greases are I have no idea. I don't have the chart handy, but I remember looking at an ETA/Valjoux 7750 oiling chart that showed all the different oils and which to use where...waaaaaaay beyond my level of expertise.
  4. If you're in Canada, you can get it at HW Perrin. Bear in mind, most folks say the gen crown won't fit on the rep tube. The gen tube doesn't fit properly in the rep case...so if you need to do the deed...you will likely need both crown and tube. The tube is only about $15-20 so not a big deal...the issue is removing the old tube, or partially drilling out the old tube to mount the new one. The Zigmeister removed the old tube, and glued in the new tube. More details can be had on my Omega SMP review pinned in the Omega area. I know Ofrei has the part as well as indicated in mjmurphy's thread above.
  5. Crap that's a bad dial...all wrong...ALL WRONG...reported.
  6. The ocean racer strap looks good. Are you saying the gen 22mm Ocean Racer rubber pieces will fit on the buckle part of the rep ocean racer strap, which to my understanding is sized for the larger SOH watches??
  7. Sorry for the V1/V2 nomenclature...but I don't know what other way is best to distinguish the 2. Rolexman did a good comparison here when making a V1 vs V2 hybrid V1 ========= Half lume dot @ 3...but as said in the thread title, Watchstation supposedly has this fixed No "B" stamp on the bezel Shallower engraving on caseback (supposedly more accurate) Smaller Type# Larger Date of Production between crown guards with a real date Breitling signed rotor V2 ========== Better lume dot @ 3 B stamping on bezel Less crisp engraving on bezel Deeper engraving of logo on caseback, and a heavier looking logo Larger Type # on caseback Fictitious date of manufacture stamping between case lugs (2016) Barely noticeble, arguably better chrono pushers
  8. Hah hah. I didn't see your pix in Lani's "Show Us Your Guns" thread. I agree with many of the folks here that people into reps tend to hop from watch to watch when the next great thing comes out. From a complete unscientific survey though...there seem to be a disproportionate number of sales happening on the Skyland due to people getting turned off by how big/thick the thing is. Great thread though...as I had the same question. I've been on the fence about this one for awhile...and am turned off a bit by the size as I have skinny wrists...but the Skyland is such a great looking watch, and so versatile by slapping on different straps.
  9. Welcome aboard. The UPO is sold by a number of dealers users on this board have found trustworthy...Silix being one of them. Although to my knowledge there aren't really "collectors" here who are US based, if you read their reviews in the review section, or do a search for users from the US, you will find a huge membership who have ordered with no problems.
  10. finger cots are fine...make sure if you get gloves they are powder free!!
  11. You will need it...there is no substitute...that and finger cots to avoid needing it to begin with. Rodico can't get off everything.
  12. Well...the answer is clear...either black or brown work. However...if you are Lani...you could go for the divers. Lanikai's Skyland on Rubber I think the brown looks awesome for the standard every day wear...and the black when you need to dress it up a bit. Rubber is good for saying "don't !#%% with me"...and the bracelet is great for heft and bling.
  13. Ok...I'm doing bad thread crapping...but my curiousity is piqued!!
  14. Nice job as always...on one of the nicer looking Breitlings IMHO.
  15. Yup!! I said in another post welcoming a Noob that a lot of "back scratching" goes on here...you help me...and I'll help you. Not bad for people who for the most part, have never met!
  16. Very informative post. Thanks! Do you find the substitution of gen ETA parts is consistent across all A7750 movements, or specific to each movement? e.g. gen ETA ratchet gears always work, and gen ETA reversing gears NEVER work OR Gen ETA ratchet gears USUALLY work, and gen ETA reversing gears SOMETIMES (but not always) don't fit Thanks for the effort and explanation.
  17. Good job! I have yet to get a piece with this movement on it...but I look forward to it.
  18. You can get one with a thin metal band...I clip mine to my glasses...or you can use the visor ones for stereo vision
  19. Yes. The strap actually appears bluer than the dial...but is not really blow (NOT like a blue Breitling strap). My Pantone reference cards have disappeared...sorry. It's pretty dark on the dial.
  20. As said by the Master of Frankens...you should likely get help. To do the job with BIG RISK of damaging things only requires a roll of duct tape, some small screwdrivers and a lot luck...but to do it properly will require a number of specialized of specialized tools. It's a 20 mins job any watch repair person can do. If you go to a small repair stand...tell them you have a replica watch or to the repair person a "fake" watch...and ask them if they can adjust the hands for you. This job they will likely be able to do...just don't go to a high end repair store that sells expensive watches. Working on Asian movements is a whole different ball game.
  21. Fun and educational story...thanks for sharing.
  22. Welcome. There is indeed a lot of info here on Breitlings, Omegas...and you will soon find out we probably have some of the best modern and vintage Rolex experts around, as well as a number of uber-Paneristis...so I feel sorry for you. You have just kissed away a huge number of your life's hours discovering this forum. I see you're already on your way with the Skyland...big gun first choice. Tops!
  23. Again...great shots. You're hitting the forum running, and that's great to see. Those are a couple good starter pieces.
  24. Agreed. Those are some great shots. The wrist shots looked great, and the pic with the Vette is very slick. Wear it well.
