On this picture anyway the white dial version is the mid size version of the watch while the black one is full size.. hence the hand length difference.

Cover Up? Or Did It Really Happen The Way They Say
Logan replied to swdivad's topic in The looney bin
This video is the biggest pile of crap I've ever had the displeasure of viewing. Its is nothing less than the ranting of an uneducated half wit. Seriously do a few google searches for Loose Change (the video's title). There are dozens of sites out there who list out the hundreds of inaccurances, distortions and outright lies told in this video. I am no huge fan of the Bush administration myself but video's like this one promoting some hair-brained conspiracy theory do nothing to uncover the reasons behind 911 or prevent its re-occurance. -
Check out Joshua's site (perfect clones) He has a pretty nice looking unit with a big flat screen for around the same price as the microset once you buy all the bits. Its actually the same as Jules Borel sells at nearly twice the price.

I stayed in a Hostel on 55th (or 56th..) a few months back, call the 381 or some name like that. Easy to find on travel sites. It wasn't flash but was comfortable, affordardable and really handy to subways, central park, broardway, etc. Cost was under $100 per night.

www.julesborel.com stocks some Sea Gull and other chinese movements from time to time, you may be able to get spares from them.

You can get plating kits where you "paint" on the plating with a felt tip of sorts. That would probably be able to replate the markers in place fair easily. Ofrei's and other jeweller supply stores have them

I've had a couple of Roadster reps back a year or so and they were very good. This one has terrible case back engraving which is a huge give away if you ever take it off. The older reps were much better.

In the short term our generation will keep the wrist watch alive.. but what about the kids of today? A friend who works for a watch importer tells me their biggest drop off in sales is in the teenage market. The kids who used to ask for a watch for a birthday present all now want a phone instead and all use that for telling the time. Once those kids get to the age of buying expensive watches it'll be a foreign concept to them as they will never have worn one. Of course cell phone could move to being wrist mounted I suppose..

On the real one you can remove the "wheel" by... guess what.. undoing the wheel nuts of course!!! I'm serious, its pictured in one of the Bentley brouchures somewhere.
-
Its legit.. this back comes from the "6.75" version of the watch which has a big date display so I guess we might not see a rep of this exact model... we can but hope though.
-
Who's been fitting genuine movements into replica Gold cases then?? Only reason I can find for having that many steel cases left over...

This one would look a whole lot better with a good clean and re-assemble without the finger prints... Also fitting the anti shock clip properly. But they are getting better very quickly.

Trend In Genuines... Getting Smaller...comments

I remember when my Chrono Avenger seemed giagantic.. nows its average size after wearing the 47mm Bentley.. -
The Horotek hand fitting press makes the job a whole lot easier, essentially its a little hand operated press that holds the hand setting tool in position exactly above the hand, there are fairly cheap, ($65 or so) and are well worth while. Its on this page near the bottom: http://www.ofrei.com/page_209.html Also I've found sometimes using the old style hand removing levers gives much greater control over the forces applied, especially on the poorly made hands our reps sometimes have. The presto type hand remover tools can be pretty brutal. Keep in mind most watchmakers working on newer models will replace the hands as part of a service so oftent he don't care so much about damage removing them. One final tip.. get some thin plastic (I use thin teflon sheet) and cut some dial guards out, slip these over the dial (have cutouts for the hands obviously) and you'll reduce the chance of slipping and gouging a dial

Help.. Bezel Experts Mod Experts Planet Ocean
Logan replied to cpt390's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I can't speak for the Planet Ocean specifically.. but on previous Omega Seamaster reps the genuine bezels don't fit. For those who don't know Omega only sells the whole bezel with insert pre-fitted, not the insert alone. -
Measure the diameter of the groove the 0-ring sits in, you can buy o-rings from any jewellers or watchmakers supply store. To refit the case back properly you need a proper Rolex case back tool, its won't be tight enough without one.
-
Are you sure you've wound it enough?? If its completely wound down it can take a fair few winds to bring it up to reserve. The fact that it stopped soon after winding suggests maybe you need to wind it more. You can keep winding for a long time.. especially the chinese movements as they ofter have very low geared winders. You will know if you're at the fully wound position.

I searched Singapore high and low a few months back for Reps and nothing.. and I mean nothing. More genuines than you can imagine though.

Everyone Needs At Least One Good Dress Watch...
Logan replied to ubiquitous's topic in General Discussion
A Lange 1 still rates in the top 2-3 genuine watches I'd buy. I've handled a couple and the movement is just incredible. I would love to see a good rep.. just to be able to "pretend" but I agree, nothing comes close to the real deal. -
With a little gentle manipulation you should be able to re-seat the dial and movement and replace the spacer. Getting the stem out is going to do damage to the dial if its not sitting right to begin with.
-
Watchmakers have tools that can enlarge or reduce the size of the tube at the back of each hand. You're better to find someone who has those and do it properly. I can only see one result from glueing hand parts together.. a mess.
-
I place a piece of teflon sheet (although any non-scratching sheet will do) between the die and the crystal. This helps prevent scratches especially on AR coated crystals and it also evens out the pressure over the diameter of the crystal.
-
Expensive, but he will certainly clean and lubricate the whole thing while having it appart, so you will end up with a rep that will last for years without needing any further work. (just don't break it again!!!)
-
Looks pretty damm good. The Chrono Avenger was always one of the most accurate reps.
