I will be curious to see. On the dial I can attest that the previous generation "white" with a Chieftang double AR coat is exactly spot on. Without it, it is not. I put the gen next to the rep at Tourneau.

I am with Arch on this one. It is a major step forward.

D - Is that true? On the bracelet finish even on the last version it is excellent. Yes, not quite as good as the gen but the key highlights of polished versus brushed still jump out at you. Some do require some rework where the bracelet meets the case as it can look rough but it is one of the better made (aesthetically) bracelets. Like many other rep bracelets though you should loctite the screws as soon as you have adjusted. Some folks have complained about loosing screws. The other great thing about this rep is it is simple in terms of having only one screw-down crown and as such I used mine all last summer as my swim watch.

Just buy a new one. They are readily available and not particularly expensive. And for the record, the gens are not particularly better. Of a half a dozen PAM deployants the only one that broke was the gen.

Hmmm! I think I will stick with the Mellow Yellow though.

Well, when I get mine (it may already be here as I have been travelling) I will post some pics. I ordered the white along with a spare black dial and hands for my original white. I already have a spare black dial from the last version so I will be able to compare everything. By the way, on this watch Chieftang's AR coat is a necessity. It enhances the dial aesthetics dramatically.

They changed it so they can sell the next edition to all those rabid Cousteau fans.

The color of hands and dials is the same on the early gens. It may look a little different as you can glob more lume on hands.

I prefer the 2006 front but 2007 case back. But I would never have the nerve to buy the 2007 until someone checks out the orange. I also question whether you can find orange superlume to relume that inner bezel.

It is a great rep. I am eagerly awaiting my "very" limited edition.

Yes and yes. QC is always an issue. Yes there are multiple factories and runs of the 7750's - I don't know if that is true on the seconds at 6 version. And yes, the seconds at 6 is always very dicey. On those watches I always buy them second hand.

No problem. THe good news on Lello is he should be back shortly. I heard from him and unfortunately he broke his arm. He is still producing the 2893 and Inge date wheels. But you may have to wait a little while.

Haven't seen the rep but the gen has one coating so it is not noticeable. If there is any coating on the rep you are fine.

So what is the answer?

I don't think I would buy a Harley as a first street bike. Harley's make no street sense. You can buy something else with substantially more power and agility for half the price. Having said that, Harley's are as much lifestyle items as motorcycles. I own several bikes of which one is a custom harley. It gets ridden a few times a year. For any real riding I get on a more reliable and faster bike. IMHO, in a car brakes are your way out of trouble. On motorycles it is speed. Get one you are comfortable riding. My favorite bike for longer distance riding is a 1998 ZZR 1100. I fondly refer to it as the flying couch - too heavy, really fast and really comfortable. The Harley only gets pulled out for less than 2 hour rides and for bar hopping. Actually, I am getting too old for bar hopping.

They are gen crowns but they are older ones dating to around 2000 (my and others' guess). The vast majority are .9mm stem and fit only on automatics. They do require very modest casework and gasket adjustment so you would want someone with skills outting them on. We did do a group buy and got a third knocked off. He has a lot of other stuff as well. He bought out a bankrupt watch smith's parts. I got the first batch and am sorting through the orders. First batch will be shipping out Monday. I will order another batch if demand warrants it. IMHO, it is a great rep of a very complex watch. Remember the noobmariner is the result of 20 years of Rolex reps and let's face it - Rolex are pretty basic watches.

Watches look fabulous. I am loving that 111. Photography is fantastic as well. I got the equipment for Christmas - but it didn't come with skills.
