  1. I suspect we will be seeing heightened competiton in the member trade area.
  2. Very cool. It is amazing that at the same time someone could design an accurate and beautiful instrument like that and yet people were still using chamberpots.
  3. Very nice collection. I see a fair number of "classics".
  4. I am partial to the chrono on blue rubber diving strap with matte finish buckle.
  5. Infamous Watchmaster. Actually, I think I have the wrong model anyhow. I just noticed you said 6152 and this is a 3646.
  6. You guys are cruel. I assume (hope) he has a blackberry. Either that or he is incarcerated.
  7. I get delivery attempts on Sunday all the time. Then again I live a mile or so from the post office.
  8. Around here everyone assumes it is real - provided you are not a broke-ass pimply faced 17-year old. Not to persecute the broke-ass 17-year olds on the forum. Seriously, say whatever you want. Arch is right. Nobody cares, except you.
  9. Would someone put him out of his misery and post a video. I had one from Ziggy for an old 7750 based 196 but lost it. But I will give you hint - no flyback.
  10. I love the on-dial cyclops. Wear it well.
  11. You're right. I missed the pattern issue.
  12. I assume that Josh's is the same as Angus'. His is somewhere between 43 and 44mm. I utilized the same precise measurement technique - ruler.
  13. I bought it because I thought it was beautiful. I too never wear it. I am not selling it though. The same is true for a number of IWC's. I own both GST's, Laureus and FA (I agree on the Laureus and FA). In truth I keep the reps I think are better for three reasons. First, I like owning "classic reps" only because I have noticed that over time they come and go. The second reason is that I am usually too lazy to sell them. And the third reason is that I have a feeling that as I get older I will start wearing them. Although Panerai and the other large watches are what get most of the wrist time currently I suspect that the classic watches will grow on me over the long term. And here is the darndest, I will continue to mod the Inge and GST's to make them better and better. On the Inge, I have relumed it but over the next year I hope to ar coat the crystal and put in a better datewheel. Then it gets put to bed awaiting my style change. The FA and the Laureus I am leaving alone though.
  14. Well, that would explain alot. My first gen was a 25B and compared to some of my other watches it looked like it had no AR. Mine is long gone but I remember thinking it was kind of "off" that a rugged watch had no ar coat. Then again when I bought it I had no idea who the Paneristi were or what the Panerai heritage was. I just thought it was a cool looking watch and reasonably priced relative to some of the other watches I was looking at.
  15. Beginning with the end of 1997 Panerai did start using AR coat. But for many of the early models (thru about 2000) the AR coat was often so light that it is very difficult to replicate. So IMHO, on the A and B reps you are generally better off leaving them alone. I actually was surprised that they were AR coated as I saw a number of earlier PAM's when I was looking to buy one and I never noticed any traces. So the early models either had the definition of the perfect AR coat or a crappy one.
  16. Yup - fake (oops, I mean rep). Or the guy replaced his gen dial with a rep one.
  17. I would be interested. But how do I know whether it fits the case we have in mind?
  18. Not for $400. And if it does say 31j somewhere on the movement, as Pug says, it definitely isn't. Now a real Rolex...
  19. Does anyone else find it painful to adjust the crown on this watch. Getting the crown screwed or unscrewed and even winding it is very difficult with that domed crown. I am wondering how the gen solves this or whether it is just as difficult.
  20. I tried on a gen as well and am convinced it is one to one on case dimensions. It should be as it is the same base 7750 movement.
  21. Yeah, that wobbly crown stem combination is unnerving. But it does work.
  22. There can be a fix for the 7750's within 2 weeks if somebody has a good scan, actual datewheel or somone simply knows what the font is (assuming it is a standardizd font).
  23. I prefer to think of them as eyes. But now that you mention it the moving subdial hands are beginning to remind me of the windmills on the girls in the producers (original with Zero Mostel).
