The humorous part about the light heavy comments on this particular watch is that the rep is definitely heavier than the gen. The chrono avenger rep is not a light watch.

Unless he owns it I would be surprised if he knew it was a rep. It is incredibly close.

I know where it is. And he has more than one. I just have to get him to be willing to part with it.

XRT- WM must still have extra pieces as he accidentally sent me the 47mm with a display back. I had asked for solid caseback since Sevomd got the only one with vintage movement worthy of displaying (lucky guy, actually it ain't luck ). Mine has the basic bridge Unitas movement. Being the gentleman he is, WM is of course sending me the solid back as well. I am on the prowl for the Rolex/cortebert movement and if I can find it I will leave the display back on. Otherwise I am swapping it for the solid caseback.

Dave- Great to see you bringing back the reviews. You're reviews caused me to buy more than one rep. This JLC in white and stainless is one. Paint the tip of the second hand black, lume and polish the case and it is one of the closest reps around. On the wrist that is. And the myota movement is fabulous as well.

XRT- Beautiful piece. If you get a chance could you snap a pic of the back. Have you had that piece for a while? I haven't seen that one in probably 8-9 months. Bezel is fantastic. At some point I will beg him to do it again as it is one of my favorites. Must confess I have one or two on the way. Nice to see he is back. Still working on that Rolex-Cortebert movement though. Hope springs eternal.

Fabulous item. IMHO, overpriced relative to other sets sold. At that price or substantially less you would expect all pieces to be in the original box and to have the original movement in the watch. My read on the description is that the person has assembled these items over time and the movement in the watch may or may not be original. Compass and depth guage usually sell for 4,000-6,000 each depending on age and condition. The watch alone regularly sells for $20,000 or so. All in around $30,000. Matched set in box - $60,00-80,000. I have only seen two or three sell at auction though. Of course the extra dials are worth quite a bit too. Having said all that, if I had $80,000 hanging around I would be dying to buy it.

IMHO, in no particular order: - Gold rolexes all over the place. The wearers are trying to make the "I am rich and successful" statement or they simply bought it the first time they made a chunk of money and never thought about it again Other watches: - Fancy Carribean islands at high season - High end hotels in New York or LA on the weekend (that is when people are shelling big bucks out of their own pocket who are visiting from foreign countries) - Bling bling watches - floor seats for any Basketball game in New York or LA and very expensive singles bars/chic clubs on prime nights. I tend to see expensive watches wherever the price of admission is very high and people have generally paid it themselves (read as high amount of discretionary income). But there is a definite pattern as to what is being worn. Frequency of Observation: Rolexes: Subs - Standard wear for banker types. I would guess I see a minimum of 20 a day. Gold Rolex - Far and away most frequent after subs. 10-20 a day on client types. The Timex of Texas. Daytonas - I see more and more and often on women. IMHO, it is the new Rolex symbol of success for a younger generation. 3-5 a day. Other brands: Cartier - Most frequent every day "fancy watch" for women. Basically standard issue jewelry for upper scale women in New York. Similar role to subs for men in NY. Men are still wearing as well. In truth they are not expensive in the context of fancy watches. Patek's - Upper end version of standard fare for bankers. AP - Current young entrepreneur's favorites. They wear the big ones. Panerai - Growing in leaps and bounds in New York - especially among the younger folks as they are, as expensive watches go, inexpensive. The funny thing is I get the most compliments from younger European men who know what they are. Everything else - fewer and far between except I do see a fair number of Breguet's.

Here is a better idea. Glue the hand on the pinion. Most common issue on 7750 is slippage of the second hand on the pinion.

By the way the microadapter for the gen is another $300. I have never owned a gen bracelet but if I remember correctly the gen bracelet actually tapers to the clasp unlike the rep but someone else will have to confirm.

Wow! Out of my budget but it is beautiful.

If you are talking about the rep version with double clasp and 40mm case, I have extra screws.

Randy- Congrats. I know how hard you have worked on this, And it is the holy grail of reps. Kudos to Chris as well. How one would know that a 1911 movement would fit is a scary thought.

It has been around for a while. I have had that one for more than a month. A dealer not on this board accidentally sent it to me and told me to keep it. I have never had the nerve to wear it though. The funny thing is that it has excellent sub-dial articulation but that is about where it ends.

That is why people who are trying to get as close to gen as possible look at the DW with older movements as opposed to more modern versions. You can't get the dial spacing right on the newer ones without the Polex movement. Ergo Ubi's comment "build it." Now ask him how long he as been building his. Ubi- Couldn't resist. By the way PM me when you have a chance I have a thought on the silver datewheels. I think I know who can make them. The question is whether there is enough demand.

I don't own a gen historic dial but other factors can include more precise cutting (laser perhaps), use of screening to precisely locate and maximize lume. I suppose it is also possible that with deeper rehaut there may be more space beween the under dial and the top dial. Reps are good. But gens are gens.
