  1. He means who has got the best sub. I think he is talking about contemporary (pre-2000) Daytonas.
  2. Congrats. Far and away the best Breitling rep and one of the best of any rep. Make sure to check the screws on the bezel as they can loosen up and fall out though.
  3. I have one on the way as well. Does the button on the side of the case do anything on this movement or can I swap cases to get rid of it?
  4. Actually. I made request to PAM via PM last week and never heard anything back as to price to returning customers or Paypal info. I am looking for 2 of each (2.0 and 2.1) for the automatics. I guess I am in the second batch at this point. Let me know when you return. Safe travels.
  5. So it's all in the sword. I have heard that before.
  6. If you do it please post the date. I travel to Vancouver all the time and might try and set up a trip around it.
  7. But you can buy a $3500 gold Daytona rep.
  8. cwai- You raise an interesting point. I know sapphire is pretty much impervious to scratches as it is next to diamonds on the hardness scale. Can they break? I have always wondered that as all of our crystals are obviously synthetic and so I have wondered whether there can be structural flaws or are you saying that you're crystal was in fact mineral. Pug- I wasn't aware that any of the swan neck's on the 1950 are currently working unless you actually screw it in. Mine appears to be adjusted but it may just be cosmetic. I did have Ziggy service it when he put in the new cannon pinion.
  9. The original sequence of manufacturing improvements was 1st generation: wrong case size and crown/cg, mineral glass, no swan neck; 2nd generation: proper sized case and crown/cg, mineral glass, no swan neck; 3rd generation: proper case and cg/crown, swan neck and mineral; 4rth generation: proper case and cg/crown, swan neck and sapphire; and 5th generation: same as #4 but wrong Cotes de geneve bridges. After that came chinese movements and other lesser versions. You want 4rth generation. Mine is fourth generation sapphire from Andrew. It is pretty hard not to scratch a crystal that big in relatively short order. In my case, it passed the water droplet test and I accidentally scraped the hell of it on the pavement with no effect. On a mineral I would have had a major scratch. I purchased it months ago. It is not AR coated though. Could be time...
  10. 3-4 watches Same outcome. He is an excellent dealer.Prompt communication and delivery. Always deals with any issues promptly.

What did you elect to buy? I am with LW54. I needed a second car (which will not get a lot of driving) and so I went for a BMW which is more than a couple of years old. I bought an 8 year old 528i with 90,000 miles for well under $10,000. It is a pleasure to drive and very reliable. What is amazing is that after an $800 service from a skilled mechanic it still has fabulous handling.
  12. If this is you're first or only PAM, 183 or 111. 127 is a cool watch but a little large (imho) for everyday wear. 44mm is more wearable with a broad variety of clothes.
  13. Most people don't give a rat's ass about watches. In my daily life very few people would notice or care what watch I am wearing except when I wear a loud watch (read PAM) and it is unmissable. I would guess the only person who is going to look and give a second thought though on whether it is genuine is either one of us miscreants or someone who covets what you have (i.e. they can't afford it and are jealous ). I have young adults who work for me who are moving up in their careers and they do tend to notice watches. Why? Beacause it is only now in their careers that they can contemplate that first cool watch. But they would never ask. They simply see the watch and add it to their mental library of watches to consider. So here is an alternative answer to the question of the single most important factor. It's all about who you are hanging with.
  14. Fabulous watch. Great pics. I am starting to get very jealous.
  15. Oh hell, now I have to get my camera fixed.
  16. It's not as simple as buy one with #117 case number and you have top of the line. #117 ia the same on all five generations of the 127 as well as the 183's. The best version is the fourth generation. It is 117 though.
  17. Tonight, I think I am glad my camera is broken. How come no one has put one on their pet yet?
  18. Wow, I am starting to feel young. I would never have guessed that Beefheart was 38 years ago.
  19. I did mention your desire to WM via email. Have not heard back. But PM me if you are interested as I will probably be talking with him next week. I'm actually starting to get interested in it too.
  20. I am with you on shoes. They say it all for men or women unless you are doing the sneaker thing.
  21. Actually, how one carrry's oneself is probably better evidence. I own two types of clothing. Very nice suits and sweatpants. I drive my kids to school every day in a Ford Expedition. Then again I live in New York City and take the subway to work afterward. Obviously vocation is a great indicator. But what is difficult to explain is that you usually know within a couple of minutes of talking to someone if they are higher income, independently wealthy or not. In general, I have to say that I never think twice about what is on someone else's wrist. Except for mine.
  22. Makes sense to me. It doesn't hurt if you're wife has a large engagement ring on her finger as well. It also makes sense that if you are someone who appears the part no one is looking at you're hand and you are not looking at theirs either. I never think twice about someone else's wrist. Then again I am not hanging around with 18 year olds either. At least not the ones who can afford expensive gens.
  23. Jet- You're pics convinced me. T-39 on the way. Thanks again. And yes, I purchased while ina the Attacama desert.
  24. Later or different numbered versions are not necessarily an improvement. Josh is simply issuing a warning that the new case number (which some folks care about) is coming on a new version with other inferior components. I haven't been paying attention on this one as I long since bought the most correct fourth version but it sounds like someone is marketing a new version at a lower price. That is why member reviews are so helpful in figuring out which version you want. Also, remember that in some cases the first version is the best version (2893 GMT's and Power Reserves, 7753 196's, etc.).
