It's just a certificate... that like you said, is quite pointless. I have non certified watches (rep for this instance) that perform better than the certified movement (in terms of on timing machine as well as on the wrist).

I have seen personally that Deep Sea at the Baselworld... Big disappointment? Not at all! It's infact quite on the contrary. The only thing holding me back is the price point (I think it starts above 10000USD mark). Rolex brand is so well known. I have to disagree that Rolex leads itself to doomsday. A few recent issues of well known watch magazine in Germany (Chronos) has highlighted Rolex pretty well. It even gave that (IMHO) ugly YMII above 90 out of 100 points which is a surprisingly high mark. Maybe it's paid review??? I don't know. You be the judge.

I won't be very fast to jump into conclusion to blame the dealer. I don't think it's very practical for any dealers to open every single caseback before shipping. Either they themselves are conned by the factory without having knowledge that it comes with non ETA movement or, less likely, are purposely conning you. Let's see what the dealer reply is and should give him some time to make it right. PS: I will pick this movement over rusty/old real ETA movement but hey that's just me.

Sell it and make good money! I have seen Clark's crystal and seriously having a hard time telling the difference. I agree gen Rolex tropic has this diamond shine under bright sunlight but the Clark one is also very good.
