  1. Congrat kikom. Fantastic piece of art. Just a side question, do you need to trim the inner rim of the gen. bezel to fit onto the case kit? Still, a super watch, wish I have the money to build one.
  2. Which model you are looking at? Try to search in the trade area.
  3. Just a thought. It might be possible to swap the 4130 chronograph wheel into the 400. then you have a longer pinion to fit the shorter tubed center seconds hand.
  4. Artisan is one of the best choice but as siad they never answer back any of my enquiries in the past years.
  5. The gen. chrono sec hand has a much shorter tube. Wonder if this is really a gen. set. It was also quite noticable in your other close up pictures that the sec hand has not been installed properly sitting square on the pinion. Pity that it now leaves scratch marks on the hour hand. Please keep us updated on the suitability of the val. hand. Good luck.
  6. Looked into the chrono second hand for the 7750 sec@6, surprisingly the tube is even shorter than the one on the gen. May be there is depth variation between 16520 and 116520 chrono second hand pin.
  7. But is it only my eyes, the crystal is sitting marginally too high above the bezel?
  8. Looks ebay has taken the action.
  9. @cht, That's the correct mod. If you stick with the rep bezel then by just sanding down the retaining ring should do the trick. But in case of putting on a gen. bezel just this mod will not work since I have already sanded down the retention ring to a flat level. Bear in mind the inner lower part of the gen. bezel has less depth cutting than the rep bezel, or put it in this way, the teeth on the gen is thicker than the rep.
  10. Hi Tribal, Happy 2009! Do you have the difference measurement? The gen. is how much thinner? Thanks.
  11. Has anyone ever measured the thickness of the two crystals? Should there be any variance between the two? Thanks.
  12. I still can't figure out what exactly is the problem here even after reading the simialr review on this topic by Stily. Somehow I am sure the problem lies with the Euro retaining ring. I know it has more or less the same thickness, but it must be the cutting in between the retaining ring has different thickness vs the gen. The matching is just not right for the gen. bezel, and it is not a simple mod that can be done at home without the proper machines.
  13. Sorry to say, but confirmed this is the case, at least in the bezel assembly part. Tried to put on the gen. bezel ring, but it won't fit. Obviously the outer diameter of Euromariner retaining ring is too big. It needs trimming. Then got the bezel ring sit into the retaining ring, and put on a gen. insert, the bezel will not turn!!! So, go ahead to sand down the height of the retaining ring to the minium acceptable level, try again but still no luck. Now really looks like after spending all the money on the gen. parts I am left with an useless Euromariner - not mentioning the hours of works spending in doing all the mods, dissemblings and assemblings. If I go back to the bezel ring comes with the watch, all the problem may be resolved but then the gen insert will not sit recess. Has anyone been putting a gen. insert onto the Euro bezel ring and managed to get it sit recess? Very much disappointed indeed.
  14. Sorry to hear that M. I encountered the same situation on my 134 movement, the pinion on the 9 o'clock subdial is broken. Not sure if we have the same source of the movement. Obviously this supplier is selling defective movement i/o claiming it is brand new - no way, the rotor on mine is scratched as well My watchsmith told me it is very likely the pinion was broken when removing the old hand on it which is supposed to be installed with strong mechanical force. Getting spare parts for such old movement is becoming extremely hard - not like the ETA's. I am lodging a claim against my supplier, and if necessary will escalate to the PP claim level.
  15. Most likely not.
  16. I keep stop myself from taking teh APROO @12 until they got the date window position rectified. Don't think it is so difficult to do though.
  17. If you really are looking for quality construction, gen. is the only option you have. So far, I have bnot encounter a single rep. bracelet will sit comfortably on the wrist, at least this is in my case.
  18. Hi Maciekl, Congratulations to you for reaching the final stage of assembly. It is amazing that you got the gen. Daytona case which is almost impossible to get. Since it is necessary to move the date function of the cal.400 in order for the set up to fit into the case, can you share some info. on how and what are parts on the 400 are needed to be taken out? Thsi would be very helpful for all the 16520 franken building planners. Cheers.
  19. "The bold text above does not apply on the cal 400 though." Why? I believe Rolex modified from Zenith 400 into their 4030, right? So servicing will be a problem if there is no donor but just bought the movement. Do you also have to put back all the date function parts onto the donor before sending it back to Zenith? Quite tedious and troublesome, isn't it?
  20. Just downloaded from DRSD site: "The modification more important brought by Rolex on the caliber Zenith is the lowering of alternations per hour of the pendulum of 28 800 to 36 000 as well as an oscillation frequency that passes of 5 to 4 Hz. This in order bring this movement chronograph to the standards of Rolex. The movement Zenith with its 36 000 alt/h renders impossible for fluid lubrications. The El Primero needs a lubrication to dry to bases bisulfure of molibd
  21. Now I see this is a franken bracelet. This can be seen from the cornet position on the flip lock piece and the 78760 clasp belongs to the YM. But with the 803B endlinks for the 16520. The seller never show the exact ref. no. engraved on the band. Most likely it is a Daytona/YM mixed bracelet.
  22. But is it trus that the clasp is 78760? I only saw engraving of 78390A on the clasp for the 78390A bracelet? Or shall there been variations from Rolex? This is puzzling since both the bracelet no. and endlink no. are correct, but only the clasp has an issue.
  23. Gen or fake? Everything seems right except the clasp. Any expert here can make the judge? Daytona Band
  24. Sorry to hear the bad experience. Always avoid the rare species. The almost only way is to build the franken for these special piece. Then you need lots of patience and efforts for collecting the parts ...... and funds of course.
