  1. By looking at the construction of the 6541 case and dial, just wonder how the assembly is made. With the copper case holding the movement, how does the movement fixed onto the watch case? This deviates from the traditional Rolex style of two fixation screws lock onto the groove. Then the dial has no dial feet, how is it fixed onto the movement? Can our Rolex experts chim in for some comments?
  2. QC? This is still a big question how many dealers do actually check before shipping. I won't even counting one finger amongst all. Sorry to say. If you get your watch arrived in perfect working and cosmetic conditions, you are simply very lucky. But so far I have not received a single watch falls in this category yet, or maybe I am just too picky.
  3. Looks like Chris has really get the things sort out. Maybe it is almost the time to really pull the trigger. My finger is getting hard to hold stable.
  4. This has been well discussed in details. Try the search and you will see. Basically the cartel's is the V4. Just look at the date window, the case curves and the engravings on the lock ring, then you will see the differences. Have fun.
  5. A hot topic a while ago on the V5, but seems all has been cooled down and silent in these days. Has those problematic flaws seen on the V5 been resolved? Can the owners update us? Cheers.
  6. Stay away until the issues on V5 is fully clarified. Just wonder if Chris has ever reacted to all the complaints that has been raised?
  7. Go for the G-Shock. Trendy and muti-functional. Water-proof, rubber strap....... The blue backlight comes up when you turn your wrist to read the time surely is attractive enough for a 10 year old. And best of all you don't need any light charge to make it glow. It runs on battery.
  8. It is hard to decide on the V5. There are good and bad opinions in both RWG and RG forums. To me, it seems that the quality consistency of V5 is still not there yet. So, it is your luck whether you will get a good or bad piece picked by the shipper. Not until this issue is resolved, I think a lot of members are holding back their orders for the V5.
  9. Yes, you can tell the difference, but it is not because of the metal but rather the polishing technique. If you will take the pain to do some polishing with rep with the very high quality compound sold by Bergeon, you can basically achieve at least 90% of the gen. brightness.
  10. It really is hard to see what the probelm is with the hour hand. If it is just lume spot then it can be easily removed. Scratches on hands is normal, this has always benn one of the weakest part of reps. Installing hands without causing scratches on them requires very high quality Derin/Teflon tweezers. Once scratched, it is done unless you put on a new hand. So far, I have not received a single rep that has non-scratched hands. This really is shame as no matter how many mods you do, how many gen. parts you out on, a set of scratched hands just simply get your watch called out as a rep straight away. Vintages is another story.
  11. Then can you recommend from where a good reasonable DRSD can be found? Perhaps you can show what you have on your wtach that worths the bucks. Thanks.
  12. Widely discussed in RG as well, there seems to be quality variance for the V5 from Euro too. For what you will get is now purely based on luck. This really pulls me off from getting the DSSD. Rather disappointed when we thought that the Super DSSD has eventually emerged.
  13. Hard to tell from what you have described. The only way is to have the watch opened and inspected. The quality od A7750 varies a lot. Some can run for years without any problem, and some will die very soon. Trust there are different factories in China making this movement and their build quality do vary.
  14. Chopard is another company like Hublot with all the BB versions, wants to kill the Miglia with all these fancy versions.
  15. Sorry to say the bezel looks terrible with all those circular machining marks.
  16. This is a gen. picture, right? Don't expect it will look the same form the rep. The green tint on the glass is very hard to copy, same for the correct tone for the orange markers and second hand.
  17. I must also say Euro's V5 is the one to go for after seeing all the pcitures and review by gio. Now saving up my pocket to go for one. Interetsing enough, one my office colleague just bought a gen. DSSD and is waving his hand around petending not to with intention to show it off. This really got my teeth crunching hard, what an a**hole. Wonder it would be fun when I have the V5 DSSD on wrist to make direct hit with his.
  18. It seems that the rotor part is defective. Afraid it will fall off again soon or later even you have it now pressed back in place. Obvioulsy the centre hole of the rotor is already to big which explains why it fell out. To fix the problem completely you will need a new rotor assembly. Gluing is not the solution.
  19. Thanks for the advices. Why this issue concerns me is mainly on the optical quality of Clark's. The experiecne with the rep Sub crystal is that it has such poor optical qulaity that gives lots of interbal reflections of teh hour markers when you read the time - if you see what I mean. Looks Clark's doesn't have tgis problem. Good to knwo it may save me $150 from buying the gen. I don't need the tched crwon anyway. Thanks.
  20. Shall there be any visible/physical/quality difference between the gen. to that of Clark's? Thanks.
  21. Hi gio, does it mean all the pictures of your DSSD shown has the hour markes relumed already?
  22. Really, then no need to think further. This is the DSSD to go overiding all the previous versions.
  23. Grest review, gio. But what I see here is that the hour markers do look different from the DSSD you actually received. The metal rim is much thicker than what is shown in the above picture(thinner rim is very much closer to the gen.) If the factory can really supply the thinner rim marker version, then this DSSD is 99% perfect. The Maxi markers are always the tough part to get it correct, same case for the LV/GMT IIC
  24. As most of us knows the true Bond strap is due to be available soon. Just wonder which is the correct version that was worn by Sean in the movie - RAF or NATO?
  25. "Here is mine BBHAVEN ultimate asking firm $420 shipped that I will be listing on rg friday enjoy:" But this one has the wrong dial for the ceramic bezel SS HBB.
