Excellent work om3ga_guy, worth having a build like this, classic watch. Also triplehd, some really great smps there, shame they had to be sold, its difficult selling custom builds, the buyers really can't appreciate all the blood sweat and tears that went into finding parts and doing the build....and you cant really charge for those things!

Will Bk TW best parts fit straight into a TC case?
cougar1 replied to cougar1's topic in The Rolex Area
Excellent, cheers! same question as correctime, ...I'm assuming the tw holder is needed also to get correct fit?, if it goes on the TC movement holder then it's a surprise? -
Will Bk TW best parts fit straight into a TC case?
cougar1 replied to cougar1's topic in The Rolex Area
Cheers guys, great info, and glad to see the entire bezel fit fine without bother. I thought I saw too that someone transplanted an entire 2836 in the TC case and had no problems with stem height...but I can't find the thread. The had to use the TW movement holder obviously. If anyone confirms it, let us know. -
Quick question, take an empty TC case, remove entire tw best movement including movement holder and try slot it into a tc case, will it work, will there be issues with the 2836 and stem tension in the tc? For that matter is it possible to remove an entire tw bezel with gen insert and put it on tc case also? In fact lets rip out the gen crystal in a tw and transfer that also. Silly questions yes, but I'd like answers

The panda is cool aswell thanks for the info on the movments, now the main trouble will be finding a case for a good price and in good shape!

Same for all movements, reps, gens, including quartz aswell, don't change date between 10pm and 2am.

Aquaracer 500M Rep - Is Gen Bracelet Worth it?
cougar1 replied to bamagrad03's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
The gen bracelet is definitely silkier than the rough brushing on the rep bracelet, so maybe do a decent brushing with a scotchbrite pad or sanding pad as well as the oiling and sanding above and it shouldn't feel much different, the rep clasps on the 500m aren't too bad at all, it's the end links that are noticeably poorer on the rep, but they mostly always are. For $180 full bracelet it's not too bad a purchase, it's the retail prices than are ridiculous. -
new here... help needed on recent order...
cougar1 replied to dman666's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
I'd lean on him, you should at least find out if your package hasn't got mixed up with somebody elses. Did you get a pic showing the watches on the shipping bill prior to sending? -
Seamaster PO 42mm leather/steel bracelet swap
cougar1 replied to sergio789's topic in The Omega Area
Easy to do, you'd be better off getting a strap changing tool than using screwdrivers, nails, forks or other stuff to do it though By a bergeon strap tool, the one with the small fork, it will save a lot of frustration. These might help: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/cha...rap-95460.html http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/pla...ps-354144.html same deal as with any watch, go slow, don't force anything and masking tape is your friend- 1 reply

rufio1, PM any of the dealers, ask will they sell you a 5th gen bracelet separately, some dealers like trevor, mary are good in this regard. @ kitt, gen endlinks match fine, as does the clasp, the only thing that might look a really tiny bit off is the gen parts are sort of more finely brushed than the rep bracelet, but this is really nothing, and easily sorted with a quick going over the rep bracelet with a scotchbrite pad.
-
Make sure the divers extension is correctly in place, if it is then the problem is most like the locking pins inside the clasp too wide, you could try gentle bend them closer with a screwdriver or something, it may help...it's a common problem. Also the mushroom head of the the part that locks in might need levelling off with a file. If no go with that then see if the dealer might be able to forward a replacement, clasp or bracelet.

Congrats vlydog, happy forum birthday

I honestly don't even know if it is the first generation AT case, you could tell the better one of those by the fake serial on the back. This watch imho is one of those examples of reverse engineering an old selling ploy. Remember before 1:1 came out it was all 'a21j in swiss case'....well this is 'swiss eta in a21j case' ....in other words, it's crap, the movement holder and the movement has changed, the dials had a lick of paint and the dial dw has been morphed to accept the movement, ....all other features could probably be found on any cheap AT concoction from watcheden or timeshops

How I got busted by Customs and got out of it alive
cougar1 replied to Adeodatus's topic in General Discussion
Way to go guys with the attempt to drive a decent contributor off the forum, what is the big deal about where he is from? Or frigging postcount or quality or whatever?. If he wants to protect his identity then I see no issue with that. On the other hand though, I'm all for naming and shaming the dealer. I doubt it's going to affect his trade, but it is something to watch out for. Tbh, I still can't understand why a dealer or his little helpers would put an obvious red flag to customs on the package...it's like sticking a fcuking biohazard sign on the box, regardless of what country the OP is from! ....If they have specific rules for specific countries, then this sort of sh*te should clearly be clarified prior to shipping, and an arrangement worked out between the buyer and dealer about how best to proceed. This is what it's all about: -
Very sweet BigCrown, love that dial!

How I got busted by Customs and got out of it alive
cougar1 replied to Adeodatus's topic in General Discussion
I think I know your TD ade, don't worry no names; but I can't understand why they would put 'watches' and a high value on the package. I've bought from this TD before and it always comes with 'novelty items' and 'accessories' on the pack with a low value, without even asking for it...what the hell was the dealer thinking in this case? I'm wondering now is there a certain rule for certain countries or locations and another for others?? Sorry to hear about this, it would sincerely [censored] me off also! -
Wow, sounds like a great combination BigCrown, a little expensive for me but it must look astounding after getting it all together, any pics?
-
That will be a very interesting release, wait until we see the frenzy for bk's wm4 when it goes on sale I believe that the TC has CG's cut very similar to wm9v2 but has high crown positioning similar to the v3, it looks very good in fairness in some pics but I'm not sure it's as dramatic as some threads on it?? The TC will apparently take full gen and pseudo gen movements straight in.
-
Yeah I agree about the gen parts, especially the movement, but the bk also accepts gen parts....well the main mods that most people will be interested in such as bezel insert/pearl, crystal and crown. I'd imagine just judging by the amount of people now moving towards the TC sub, only a small percentage of these will go the whole hog and do the movement swap also? I guess the question is who has the better basic modded sub? The TC with gen crystal/insert/crown or a Bk with gen crystal/insert/crown? Edit, Just seeing your post now duke1973
-
Serious question, I'm not as well informed on subs as some other watches and would appreciate comments from people in the know about subs. This is the standard no frills 16610 rep I'm asking about. I see tc has a nicer case, i.e. better crown guards than the bkwm9 v3, but not by much, I think the difference is probably overplayed a little? We are talking 0.3mm or something. I also see the tc does accept gen parts, i.e. movement etc. But out of the box, all I see is wm9 v3 having better dial, better lume, better insert, better crystal? ....possibly even better toothed bezel etc? TC is slightly cheaper granted, but when rehaut shaving (most want this) and new insert are taken into account the price is not so far off the bk. TC probably has the better bracelet? So why are all these people falling all over themselves across all the forums to sell off their bks and buy the new tc? I can under stand someone who wants to almost do a full franken with 3135 intalled but for just doing the basic mods...gen insert/pearl, gen crystal, gen crown; is the tc so much better? I'm not being in the least bit critical of either tc or bk v3, I'm just curious to know what all the fuss is about? Could someone fill me in on the real benefits of one over the other?
-
@ Om3gy_guy, yeah, I was wondering, I thought that was you, I'm sorry I didn't pick those up as they were at a really good price, ...again I was too late to the party!
-
Yep, looks great matt, the madness is well worth it

Want to control your addiction to watches?
cougar1 replied to theflyingdutchman's topic in The looney bin
Brilliant! I think I need the 400mg Wisatrin plus dosage -
Yep. closed case is the only way to go, shame they are as rare as rocking horse s**t these days. There was one for sale over on rwi recently so they can be got, also for sale separately was a 2221.80 dial and hands as above for dirt cheap, something like $150. It is doable but a lot of hassle finding the parts. less hassle to just buy a 2nd hand quartz gen tbh.

Arrgggh my eyes.... you didn't have to do that to Ursula r11 I have to admit that French babe has aged well! Aging aside I think this Polish/Swedish beauty is one of the best looking bond girls of all time:
