  1. Just a quick hello to old friends, been away for a couple of years and just returned to the hobby. It seems that I have a bit of catching up to do, hope everyone is well.
  2. Crappy pic, but I was kinda busy at the time....................... My daily beater, vintage 1675.
  3. Still wearing my GMT Master at work.................................. Switching over to my Chronomat Evolution in the morning...................... Followed by my Superocean on Sunday (Just picked up from my jeweler, cleaned and serviced!)
  4. Vintage GMT Master for me.................
  5. Navitimer GMT? Colt GMT? Which one are you looking for?
  6. Actually, I just unscrewed the crown to the winding position when I noticed the slip. I'm actually wondering if it is the keyless works that's jacked up. The crown and stem are just fine. I tried the reinsert with gentle rotation to see if that would reset, but it didn't. At least it runs, I just can't quickset the date, wind, or move the GMT hand independently.
  7. So I bought a cheap beater vintage GMT master from Watcheden. I arrived quickly, looked decent for the price, so i've been wearing it and thinking of simple vintage mods I could do. I decided on simply aging the insert and dial. I bleached the insert until I got the desired look and then unscrewed the crown to remove the stem and subsequently the dial. I noticed when I unscrewed it that it had some play and that the hack didn't activate when in the #2 position. Confirming my suspicion, it no longer winds and only has 2 positions. Both of them move the hands and one will "slippingly" move the gmt. It pisses me off because usually I am good enough at screwing up a movement without the factory's help Do you guys think its the stem or the stem retention inside the movement? I've got to contact Sarah and see if we can resolve this, but it would help me to let her know what the problem is. What do you think????
  8. Anyone have a review of the new blue dialed ceramic subs? I'm on the fence about getting one............. Thinking about getting a cheapy asian first and then deciding. Watcheden has a nice looking one. thoughts??
  9. Never noticed that before, wow that is pronounced.................... Point made and opinion appreciated, thanks ByTor. Purchasing the noob today!
  10. So, I have this great friend who has really helped me out over the last year or so. He is really into the blue TT Sub and has a crap replica from about 6 years ago that he loves. I want to get him an updated version. I know the best one out there won't be available for a while, so I have looked into other unmodded pieces that I think would be of decent quality. I have come up with two, both from Josh (although most other dealers carry it!), and I'd appreciate opinions of both. 1. The TT Noobmariner. Bytor did a great review and it looks like a great piece. My own personal issue is that I have owned several Noob pieces and the case seems to fit rather small. the dimensions are correct, but it just seems small when compared to the gen. I also don't see the pearl as being the "best". Just mu opinion though. $328 + shipping. http://www.jpc8118.com/rlst01003-wrapped-b...836-p-5217.html 2. The "older" wrapped version. I know the dial isn't as good, but overall visually the watch looks nicer. I don't know, again maybe its just me and my old age vision! $308 + shipping. http://www.jpc8118.com/rlst10002-wrapped-b...362-p-2537.html thoughts, opinions???? Especially interested in posts from folks who own either one (pics would be great!) Thanks everyone!
  11. I seriously contemplated purchasing that very item. The closed 6 and lack of date mag turned me away though. I'll email Josh and see if he carries the one you describe............
  12. Thanks guys! I figured it would be a pain............. I don't see the screws that you are referring to though Freddy. I'm fairly certain the fine adustment on the clasp will not be enough. Probably, I'll just mount it on a vintage Jubilee, thats my favorite anyways. Anyone know where to source the old style Jubilee??????
  13. so I am looking for a cheap daily beater GMT and I came upon this............... http://www.watcheden.com/rolex-gmt-master-...-20303-p-1.html Looks o.k. for the money, but I have always wondered how you size these bands? Can someone enlighten me??????????
  14. If its the one I'm thinking of, its UB7's and its a genuine..............................
  15. Just out of curiosity, does anyone make the new Chronomat TT with the roman numerals (preferrably on a blue dial ). Haven't found it anywhere, but i've been out of the loop for a while. Whats the word out on the street? Thanks guys!
  16. And the point of that was what exactly?????
  17. A real 2824 will get you about 42 hours, an asian 7750 could give you anywhere from 1 minute to 36 hours....................
  18. You'll have a difficult time finding an auto Seamaster (vintage maybe) for under a $1000................ Hamilton has several nice pieces under your budget, including a Valjoux 7750 piece (Khaki Chrono). Tissot also has its Le Locle line which are automatics. Both are nice reliable lines...........
  19. A bit of Deja Vu, eh???? She's great, but I guess I should start treating her more like a lady. I was rather rough on her on our first date!
  20. So I just got home from a local island enjoying the beach, fun, and sun. I recently purchased an asian SFSO from a well respected member here and decided "what the hell"; I'd go wear it into the water. I soundly affirm that this is still one of the best reps made, I've owned 3 and all have amazed me! So I wear it in the shower, no problems noted..................... I took it into the pool, again no issues down to 10 feet. I even loosened the crown a tiny bit just to tease on the watches demise. Still tight as a virgin.......................... So came time to do the ultimate, put it into the Gulf of Mexico with waves a crashing. I was truly amazed!!!!! Not an issue one! I paid a little over $100 for this thing and it withstands the elements. I paid $400 for my iphone, it died the second I touched water?!?! Just goes to show that sometimes cheaper is better!
  21. Not all of them................ I just sold my genuine Pro Diver that was on my SO and it had the engraved logo with a brushed finish. The brushed aspect was the reason why I wanted to get rid of it, I preferred the polished to match the case. Regardless, it was built solid and worth the price. I stopped into my AD today and found out I can still get them for $80 brand new..................
  22. It hasn't gotten a lot of love lately....................................... But today that changes! What do ya think???????
  23. I have several gens that I'd like to clean up and maybe put up for sale. I am wondering what the best and or easiest way would be to remove scratches from brushed SS????? Would a dremel with a buffer wheel work? Cape Cod? Any info would be greatly appreciated........................
  24. Yeah, I can go to my AD and leave with a genuine for under $80 bucks. The rep rubber strap is not the greatest quality. Plus it collects way too much dust!
