  1. I have now owned two Pro Diver Straps, one blue 22mm for my SFSO and one black 20mm for my current SO. The blue on had a polished buckle, yet today I notice that the black one has a brushed buckle. I wasn't aware they made both. Is this a size thing or are they both available in all sizes? It looks great brushed, kind of offsets the polished case and matches the bezel, but my curiosity has been aroused................. So, genuine owners, is yours brushed or polished???????
  2. Tomorrow........... Wednesday.......... Thursday............. Friday.................
  3. Now with the Pro Diver strap........... What ya think???????????
  4. Since its been like a whole week without one...........................
  5. The one of the left is a gen, right??????????????? I too used to have pics from earlier this decade, but I deleted them. I remember my first Daytona rep. It had the nice new bracelet and a smooth sweeping movement. It even told me what day of the month it was because it was a "custom piece"! As long as I didn't take it off and show the "Daytona 24" markings on the back, I was golden!!!!!!!!!!!! God, I was an idiot back then........
  6. Personally, I believe that protection of newbies is essential to maintain the true integrity of our hobby. But that protection can only go so far. Most educated rep buyers have performed a basic level of research to determine if a watch is worth the price asked in their own eye's. Myself, I usually go check out the genuine to get a "feel" for its presentation, size, and fit. Then I make a decision about purchasing the rep. I see both sides of this story and yes I personally agree that the price asked was too high. Thats why I chose to not buy it. I looked, I liked, but I chose to shop elsewhere. I didn't get ugly about it, hell I didn't even post, I just moved on. Honestly, I think that some people are looking for a good arguement every now and then. A simple, "I don't understand, please explain it" post might have sufficed. These "fads" seem to come in trends, and every one that I have seen over the past 6 or so years have all had one or two heated topics. Remember when the "old factory" Seamaster first came out? the first asian 7750 movements? The Poljot vintage Daytona's? The Panerai craze back in '05 and '06? Then the MBW 'red' watches? Now its the new Hublot's.........................It has and probably always will happen! But we can't take these things personally, its our hobby after all, this is what we enjoy. Fighting and arguing during an engagement of joy is like oil and water, the two don't mix. Sellers, if someone comments, thank them for their time, listen to what they have to say, adjust if needed or simply ignore. Again, an educated buyer can see through the smoke. There is no need to get ugly. If your piece doesn't sell, maybe step back and look at the reasons why. I currently have two very nice pieces up for sale on TRC. My inital asking price was very fair in my mind taking into consideration accesories and mods, but they haven't sold and I adjusted as necessary. Yeah, I may lose a few dollars (or pounds depending on how you look at it), but I'd rather lose a little than lose it all by pissing off the entire community (oh wait, I think I already did that once )..................... Keep things in perspective and enjoy the time we have, life is too short already.......................
  7. Another one is the Tissot Le Locle chrono, retails for around $1200, you can find them on the 'bay for around $500-600........
  8. The boredom is strong tonight.......................
  9. I'm glad everyone had a great time, I unfortunately had to work and didn't get home until this morning. Maybe next time, although per the wife, I have to leave the checkbook at home...................
  10. Friday, yesterday, today, tomorrow...............
  11. Picked her up on Friday, she looks and feels great! I thought about buying the SFSO, but after wearing the rep for a couple of weeks, it still feels too "big" on me. The blue dial on the Superocean isn't as deep of a blue as on the SFSO, so I opted for the black dial. With the heavy AR, it still has that deep color to it at certain angles. So I have to say farewell to the SFSO and hello to this beauty............................. The lume in the utility room after being indoors, no sun or charge!!!!!!!!!!
  12. beautiful!! That one would look awesome on the Pro Diver strap!
  13. These two models appear to have the same bracelet, it looks like the standard 20mm speedy. Can any of you confirm??
  14. My hope was that I wouldn't like the SFSO and I could avoid putting down the $$$ for the gen. Unfortunately, I loved it from first sight! Out of all of the asian reps I've ever own, this one absolutely amazed me! I even went to the AD and got the genuine Pro Diver strap in blue! I purchased the Asian version just to "get the feel", now I'm thinking about getting the ETA version. So before I do, I am interested in knowing.............. A. Is the ETA AR coating similar to the factory coating? B. Does the ETA version suffer the same bezel misalignment issue? C. Are the crystals different? I know the end result, I'll be plunking down around $2K for the gen, but I'd like to have a "closer" version than my current asian before I do. Opinions, thoughts???
  15. Yeah and his communication methods are clearly outlined also, but that doesn't stop people from screwing it up. Having been around these boards for quite a while, there are three things I have learned Neil............................... 1. He is a man of his word, maybe not necessarily on the buyers timeline, but he goes beyond most dealers to correct the situation. 2. He has no hesitation calling out bullshitter's or scammers when they try to screw him over, which despite popular belief, is quite often. Its funny how when he calls someone out, there is never a justified response from the buyer. 3. He is one of the very few true collectors. Most of you only have an interest in buying the "best Submariner" out today, not a true appreciation for fine timepieces, rep or gen. Neil is a guy who you can talk to for hours, if not days, about the subject. Too many people are here for the wrong reasons, sadly it shows in this decision..................... Sorry TT, you and the rest of the team got this one wrong!
  16. It seems to be the same offering that other dealers have had for years now.............At over twice the price! The gold screws have got to go though, they look hideous on this piece.......... I've heard several people absolutely rave about Watchmaker9, but I just don't see the justification for their higher prices. Their pieces are the standard rep that we can get from any of our dealers. I asked them once, on their forum, why their prices were higher. I wasn't being an ass, not rude at all, just a simple question..........I was immediately banned! Take it for what its worth..........And in my book, they are not worth it!
  17. Its not much, but I like it..............
  18. I have a vintage 5514 that is already "aged" but I am wanting to improve it with several mods including a new genuine dial (if its even possible), the CG's, a "vintage" bezel insert, and I'd like to try to seal it for water resistance. Any opinions and advise would be greatly appreciated. I also need someone to perform the mods. I used to use Tommy, but I don't know if he is still around at all. So let me have it. The pros and cons, costs, and feasibility............... Thanks everyone... D
  19. Yea, just figured that out , I'm such a dumbass, I should've remembered.................thanks.............
  20. Sorry for the repost, but I couldn't find the old thread........... I have a Navitimer bracelet that I cannot adjust. I take the little screw out, but the inner tube will not come out.....any help would be greatly appreciated, I've never had this much of an issue with these bracelets before........Thanks! D
