  1. I am wanting to send the great IWC panda reps crystal out for AR coating. And since I know turn around time SUCKS I want to get this out asap. I know you can't access the crystal from the rear because dial and movement are removed from the front. How do I remove the crystal? on a side note..........if I were to replace the movement do I use a 7750 or a 7753=(due to seconds location)?
  2. Any rep that hasn't been a Rolex or PAnerai has had a problem. Out of 20 or so purchases, about 12 have had a problem of some sort.
  3. You can bend (carefully) the clasp around to the shapr of you wrist. I did this on my presi band. It take a bit of time because you have to do a bit of bending.....wear it for a while....then do a bit more bending until it fits quite right.
  4. Well we will see how much farther I can get on it before I loose intrest and move on to another project. Outwardly this thing looks kick ass. The current eta movement looks ok. I ended up getting two, no date, rep tudor movements. And can't decide if I want to go ahead and drop one of them in this watch or keep the eta that came in it. It keeps time great and hasn't hiccuped once since getting it all together and putting it on the winder. I also have a chance to buy a genuine tudor movment, but the fellow wants $500 USD. And to be frank, after they are cleaned, the rep movments look good and keep good time. @Ubiquitos I will tell you this though. I have been sitting back more and more, and thinking of your daytona. I REALLY think I am going to liquidate of few of my watches are start building a Daytona. My watch smith says he can build a spacer to make a genuine el primero fit any case as long as it isn't too small to begin with. I just have to find out if a rep dial spacing will fit an el primero movement. Anyone want to trade a Tudor for a black face daytona ?
  5. Thanks Phoband! My questions has been answered. Thanks for the quick answer. Access to info is why I love this board so much!
  6. I understand. But to be honest I don't hold the dealer responsible for customs and told him I so. The dealer whom I got it from is a GREAT deal and I would rather not screw up relations with him. I am sorry if I made it seems like I did, I will edit my post. I take my chances, it is an illegal item and I know that when I order. That is why I was asking about "imaginative" methods of shipping.
  7. I think dropping a descent amount of money (as far as fake watches go) and having it snagged will make anyone gun-shy. And with allof the bull-isht going one in the US right now I fully expect to be on some type of customs "watchlist" for a while regarding items being sent to me from abroad. So...... After I fix my present financial situation and pay my outstanding paypal bill, I am going order another Inge. So WHO should I order from that can ship from either in the US or Canada or can help me with "alternative" shipping method? BTW .. ....... A HUGE THANK YOU TO ADDINGWATCH. He made me a GREAT deal on a panda IWC. This fellow board member is deserving of praise as he helped me out tremendously in my time of IWCless woe! THANKS ADDINGWATCH!
  8. That sucks! But yes, the lugs holes are totally fixable............albeit with a lot of time and wet/dry sandpaper+flat surface. I have to fix worse than that from me screwing up past watches of my own. Good to hear things are begining to work out.
  9. same old same old
  10. I don't know how it started out actually. I got it from a fellow Darkside member who bought it and never did anything with it but manage to put a nice big crack in th e crystal. So after a couple months, I got a crystal for it I decided to give it a go for building. I have built quite a few vintage Pannies to date but never a Tudor. And after By-Tor posted his thread I thought "helllll yeah, I need to build this watch!) I think it must have started off life as a watchmaster.
  11. Hell yeah I did By-Tor! Your damn review gave me the fever for this damn watch! I love you and hate you at the same time for putting the idea for it in my head!
  12. Yes, most people would rather keep the triplock rolex crown. But in lengthy discussions about vintage Tudors with a local jewler who specializes in selling and servicing "preowned Rolexes and Tudors" I was told that yes they did come with Rollie triplocks initally but if they had been serviced at the Rolex/Tudor factory sometime in the last 10-15 years then the crown would probably have been changed to a Tudor triplock of the same dimension as the vintage triplock crown. He even pulled his personal Tudor Sub out to show me. But, he also said many tudor owners weren't happy about this but most did not care. He said that they had changed out a couple of the tudor crowns that had gotten "dinged" with modern Rolex Triplock crowns but it did not look right as they are a good 1mm larger that the vintage depth wise. Well, I couldn't find a whole lot of evidence of his statments on the web as most people don't get their Tudors actually serviced by Rolex. So he could have been full of crap. But there are VERY few experts and or info on vintage Tudor subs out there so he may be dead right too. But I did notice that my triplock crown was obviously larger than the pics of the Tudors I had seen. So I went back and asked him if they kept and of the tudor replacment crowns. Smilling (and knowing that I like reps as well as gens) he stated he "knew I would be back to ask that" I trimmed crowngaurds, and installed new tube and crown, plus gen tropic, drilled and beveled lug holes, and finished by polishing the ever-lovin-crap out of the whole case and refinishing the brushed finish. Visiually it doesn't make a HUGE difference but the watch lines FEEL much softer and the straight lines and edges have that refinished a bit look to them. But most of all all the flat areas aren't perfectly flat any more and have jjjuuuussssttttt a bit or roundness to them. And voila! I took it back to show him my "homage" watch and watched his eyes bug. In his own words...."Even in hand, I wouldn't question the authenticity of that watch" After he new, he said that the finish on the hand lume was questionable but otherwise it is as perfect as he could imagine it being. So, without further hesitation..... the reference pic for the cg and crown size (note that the crown in the pic is not fully screwed down so one must account for that in measuring crown to CG size relation) the finished product a closer view and a straight on shot Would YOU call this out if you saw it on my wrist?
  13. Does the rep have AR coating? My father in laws gen has heavy AR front and back of the crystal.
  14. When I called to complained, this is how I was told it works: I was told that the Paypal transfer was instant into my paypal account from his. Then Paypal makes a fund request from his account that can take up to two days depending on whether or not the funds have to be manually approved from the bank (huh?) Then if it is not sufficiently funded in the bank account, Paypal then overdrafts his account and his bank charges him the overdraft fee but does not give PP any funds. PP then puts his PP accoutn into the negative. PP keeps trying to withdraw funds on the account every three days, once a week (huh?) until it can recieve these funds. The only way to stop this is to close the checking or savings account. THEN PP wants their money from ONE of you, so guess where they go. From what was told to me, this has happend more and more and is the reason that many ebay sellers will not take paypal over certain amounts $500-$1000 for example. Yeah TTK, from now on only bank to bank transfer. I bought his whine about being afraid that he would loose his money if he wired my bank the funds and PP at least offered him some protection............... I am a dumbass
  15. A little bit of gen speedy on Hirsch double ridged shark.
  16. The submariner ETA from almost any dealer. With a bit of time and dremel it looks the dogs nuts. Plus every one of them that has come through my hands has been waterproof plus kept time like a champ. You can't buy a genuine automatic watch with an ETA and full saphire for $180 anywhere but a faker submariner. perfect noob buy.
  17. Dallas / DFW customs baby! I know they are supposed to be the hardest but........... Look, I have plowed through many a watch coming over with no problems. and The funny thing is that my tracking numbers ALWAYS have worked and I almost always have my watch on my wrist is no more than 5 days. I have even ordered watches from Josh on thursday and had a USPS van pull up on SUNDAY afternoon to deliver them to me. But sooner or later we all catch that one crappy deal. Whether we have a deal with another member go bad or we loose a watch to customs or to the mail Gods. And sometimes you get to loose a genuine just so the "For Sale" Gods show you that anything is fair game. It all boils down to one lesson in reps though......... NEVER gamble with more money than you can AFFORD to loose when buying or selling a rep!!!!! You never know which rep it is that will get caught or lost or scammed.
  18. Yeah, he will sell me another one at his cost, but that cost is still more than the group buy price sooooooo.......
  19. Well I should have known this deal was going to go [censored] up. 1. The day after I send off the money to Eddie Lee, 2 other dealer show the same watch for $100 less than I paid......great. (this by the way is a normal thing, the longer you wait the cheaper a rep is. I just didn wait long enough) 2. All the other watches I have bought have always made it from Taiwan in 2-3 days and then through customs in another 24 to 48 hours, this one took a full week just to make to shore.........well that's nice 3. The watch has been is customs for 7 days...........uh oh. 4. I get a nice letter from US customs telling me I have donated one watch to a customs agent.......well F*CK!!! No point to this thread. I am just venting about loosing a watch that I really wanted to get but everything went wrong. The fact the Paypal just informed that they took back the funds paid to me for a genuine Omega Seamaster because they were paid with an instant tranfer from a closed account made it some much worse. So the funds I were going to use to by the DW and MBW sub here from fellow members is gone gone gone along with my Seamaster. Cliff Notes: I am just ranting because my watch buddies are the only ones who will understand my woes!
  20. post pics and we can go from there
  21. Never mind, I let my temper get aways from me apologies finepics
  22. ............
  23. Not ONE of you is going to change the others mind whether for or against knife sales. And like every other time some thing like this comes up who ever shouts the loudest over the other becomes the winner until some one disparages the other race, country, or lifestyle And we are certainly on the verg of this now. The jew joke was already [censored] and offends me no matter where the hell it came from. And the " United States are a bunch of assholes ...but no offense" have already started in a underhanded way so why don't we go ahead and vote on what to do and let that be that? Otherwise.
  24. The cortbert based watch would be very well acceptted I would think. There are at least one or two stories of Pan collectors building very very high end "replicas" vintage pieces out there.
  25. I am sorry about your loss. My sister was hit and killed by a car one year ago November 2. It wasn't the cars fault that she died. She was hit by a driver speaking on a cell phone. It was neither the car not the cell phones fault she died. It was the dumb[censored] lady driver who was miss-using both. My opinion is the same with a knife. If the person means to kill some one they will simply use another type of weapon to do so. It isn't the intent of an object to do harm but the person who wields that obect to do harm whether malicously or through carelessness. The end result is the same.
