Where to start

Im in the market for my first rep but dont know which to start with.

I want a watch that has ETA like the Gen and the dial strap etc like a gen. Obviously the lume of this rep will we fairly weak so I will have that sorted and any other differences by one of the guys on here.

I really like the PAM watches but they are really a specialist watch and difficult and kind of expensive to put right and get close to gen.

The chopard GT XL seems a good start but what else would you guys recommend?

I dont actually mind the style or size of the watch aslong as its fairly inexpensive to modify into almost the genuine article.

Thanks

I think the britlings are hard to beat as far as accuracy In concerned. I just purchased a Bentley motors T that Is not that accurate but the quality Is unbeleivable. It Is very well made. The rep that I hope to buy next Is the Seawolf (banana) with the yellow dial. There are many very good Breitling reviews and my understanding Is that It wont take much to make them Gen like, lume, ar and not much else. In some cases even these Issues have been addressed. Example,.. the Seawolf Is supposed to have great lume out of the box, good luck. :) Mike

I really don't understand people who's ONLY concern is accuracy. If thats all you want, there are a million Timex's that are almost 100% accurate :p

Why don't you stop, look around, and decide what you like? I'd much rather have a watch that I like with a few flaws, than one that I am solely buying based on its accuracy.

I've just ordered my first rep - took me months of reading RWG to decide what I wanted.

I've gone for a Breitling Skyland Avenger V1(updated). Its pretty accurate allthough I think the V2 is supposedly the closest to the gen.

I was also considering the Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish which is one of the most accurate reps around.

Hope this helps.

+1 and this Is why I purchased the Motors T. Although It's not my most accurate rep It Is my favorite, fantastic build quailty for a rep. The best advice I was given when I arrived here was "buy what I like". That has proven to be very good advice Indeed. :good: Mike
