Nanuq Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 The thing I like best about the Seiko Monster is how easily you can completely change its look and character. Here are some of my favorite shots. The Monster on Watchadoo Lumpy The Mod Monster The Stealth Monster
Ronin Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Tell me more about the "Stealth Monster" Please... I am thinking of doing a DLC Seiko Diver w/Avitt.
Guest avitt Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Tell me more about the "Stealth Monster" Please... I am thinking of doing a DLC Seiko Diver w/Avitt. ...Just in case you missed it, here's some tasty enticement
jeff g Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 No 'mods' to mine...just a custom rubber oyster bracelet and ss deployment. This watch is the only diver that I own that I take in the water. The Monster is a great watch.
rustyrussel Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Erm, trading zone right. So are these for sale???
Fireman_Fred Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Nice looking watches but is there anything actually for sale here ???
Nanuq Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 Sorry, some numbnuts wrote the original post in the wrong area. Sheesh. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
jj69 Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Anyone know a good source for a sapphire crystals for the Monster? What do they go for with AR? How hard is it to install one? I've always seen the cheapo glass crystal as the major flaw in the Monster.
Nanuq Posted August 14, 2009 Author Report Posted August 14, 2009 Easy to install, and you can get one from Harold Ng. Search around here on the board for more details about where I got mine for the Mod Monster.
Ronin Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Quick follow up question on the crystal... Can the crystal be removed/installed with regular press WITHOUT having to remove the bezel? On a side note, anyone every remove a Seiko bezel? Thanks,
Nanuq Posted August 14, 2009 Author Report Posted August 14, 2009 I removed the movement, pressed out the broken crystal with my thumbs, pressed in the new one from the front with my Exclusive Hockey Puck and C-Clamps method (patent pending) and presto. Waterproof too. Remove a Seiko Monster bezel? Are you kidding me?!! There are things that simply aren't done. We don't talk about these things. They're simply too painful (and apparently, impossible).
smc Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 I was thinking of taking the dremel to mine and making it all polished. Kinda Breitling bling on a monster, what do you think?
Pugwash Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 I only have the orange on steel bracelet, but I had both these before: ... and this is the Monster being put in its place. Yes, both these watches need AR.
smc Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Nice. I think I need an orange monstrum. Anyone want to trade with my OM as part of the deal?
Pugwash Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 Nice. I think I need an orange monstrum. Anyone want to trade with my OM as part of the deal? I have an Orange Monstrum I'm going to put up for for trade if you've got anything interesting.
smc Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 I just put in an offer on the bay and it was accepted. Wish I had seen your post first
Nanuq Posted August 16, 2009 Author Report Posted August 16, 2009 Dang Pugs that Monstrum is just unbelievably handsome. Someone with absolutely impeccable taste must have sourced that beauty for you. If it's not the Mona Lisa of dive watches I don't know what is.
