JoJo35 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Maybe the Spin guy won't feel so bad now http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-ROLEX-6263-DAYTONA-18K-CHRONOGRAPH-WITH-BOX-727_W0QQitemZ270457180464QQcategoryZ111652QQcmdZViewItem
Gatchaman Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 At $10100 now. How can you tell its fake?
auman20 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Gee...over AU 10k. But, a very beautiful Newman dial, most likely gen. If not, I will be really surprised. I have one question though? What will be the fair price like this? 18kt solid gold case + swiss 727 + gen (like) dial.
freddy333 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Neither the dial (incorrect fonts, for starters) nor the movement (wrong regulating system, for starters) are genuine.
JoJo35 Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 Neither the dial (incorrect fonts, for starters) nor the movement (wrong regulating system, for starters) are genuine. I agree freddy. It's pathetically, incredibly fake. I'm sure a close-up would easily call out the bezel insert too. Scam artist like this should be thrown in jail,. A member here even thinks it's a gen dial!!! (not!)
tickertp Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Phong has these for sale at http://jewelryandwatch.com/index1.html, plus all of the parts to pt one together. A good educational site!
JoJo35 Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 Holy crap, now over ten grand USD! These people are out of their friggin minds!
freddy333 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Holy crap, now over ten grand USD! These people are out of their friggin minds! I cannot blame inexperienced buyers. There was a time, not too long ago, when I would have salivated over that POS. Ignorance is bliss. But that seller should be outed. I wonder if a bunch of us should, 1-by-1, post questions (in the form of comments) in his auction?
jot9011 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Hmmmmmm.....gotta love the "RARE VINTAGE SEIKO CALCULATOR LCD DIGITAL WATCH he's also got for sale.
polexpete Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I think it's a gen. Don't be silly now, JoJo and Freddy know their stuff....
alligoat Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Wow! $15,488.00 US. Looks like two inexperienced guys and one guy w/ 140 buys on ebay were fighting for it. I wonder what the winner's going to do when he finds out it's a fake/franken. Too bad these guys don't know about Phong. They could have saved themselves a lot of money.
freddy333 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I emailed the seller, hoping my 'question' would get posted to both scare other potential bidders away &, hopefully, attract the attention of ebay's security team. But he just reiterated what he said to others & it never got posted.
theblueprince Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Def rep-built from parts. Nice strap
hank7502 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 The seller could have a partner bidding it up.
fakemaster Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Bidding over. $18,001.00. Rock and roll.
alligoat Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 The seller could have a partner bidding it up. That seller is very crafty, I wouldn't put it past him. You note in his description he was very careful not to make any false claims.
freddy333 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 ebay security was alerted by a number of people. Hopefully, they took action before the auction ended. It is 1 thing to build frankens for yourself & tout them as gens to your friends, but it is another kettle of (stinking) fish when you try to pawn (sell) them off as gens to unsuspecting buyers.
