  1. Sounds like a scam having nothing to do with Rolex... ignore it
  2. IMO it's better to get an older V3 ...not a V3.5 and upgrade to the colorless cyclops yourself.
  3. IMO OEM is the way to go with the Santos strap. Not much more than an HKTan strap.
  4. PLENTY of great steakhouses in NYC. My favorite right now is BLT steak (trendy and chic). Dylan Prime is another great one. Can't go wrong with Sparks (traditional) either. If you want to go really old school you can venture over to Brooklyn and try Peter Lugers. By far the most famous steak joint in New York. Be aware if you do, they only accept cash (and Peter Lugers credit card if you've got one) Tried Club A. Food is ok but has a weird cheesy vibe. Straight outta the 80's lounge singer upstairs and Samurai swords hanging from the ceiling downstairs What I imagine a gay S&M sex club would look like. Would stay away from Ruth Chris, Morton's and Capital Grille. Good in other cities (Chicago per se) but not in NYC. For romantic places apropos for an anniversary without reservations weeks in advance I would try, One if By Land Two if by Sea, Aureole, and River Cafe (Brooklyn) Good luck!
  5. I'm guessing 1, 2, 3 and 8 are GEN.
  6. It's not quite as simple as gluing a second DW on. The space is created because the chrono gears are in between the DW and the dial. The fix involves placing a spacer ring on top of the original DW followed by a second DW. The tolerances are very tight....so not an easy task.
  7. Intel has it that this is a "NEW" 7753 copy movement that's been in the works for a while. We are supposedly going to see alot of updated versions of the 3-6-9 subdial configuration watches...
  8. I was going to comment on the same thing...but I thought my eyes were lying to me as well. Looks less sunken...not totally flush, but much less than before. Maybe the factories are finally getting the hint that they would sell more watches if they fixed this glaring flaw. OLD: (DW in another zip code) NEW: (DW closer to dial)
  9. The Grand Prix collection is just a hot mess, IMO. The least obnoxious one being the platinum version. The 57th Street with rubber bezel OTOH is just hot. Looks like AP is putting AR on their new ROO's. Easy enough to rep. I'm sure we will see that one soon.
  10. Who said that? Feel free to shoot and post all you want.....no complaints here!
  11. That's how it is. Set the time by turning the crown CCW
  12. I wonder if he's selling individual parts. That bezel pearl looks a helluva lot better than the ones currently on any version

    Yummy

    Yeah...i don't get the Gaytona.
  14. If your going to drop $1.75M on a watch...what's another $750K for this one? Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie - $2.5 million Has 26 complications and comes with 2 free watches and a safe to keep it in.
  15. Hmmmmmm.....gotta love the "RARE VINTAGE SEIKO CALCULATOR LCD DIGITAL WATCH he's also got for sale.
  16. Would love to know how Rolex applies the AR only in the cyclops area. Is this possible with the AR coating process that Chief uses? Maybe Chief can weigh in. The more labor intensive option would be to get the entire underside coated and then remove it everywhere except the cyclops region.
  17. Looking forward to the Rhodium dial too as well as the RG/black dial model. As far as the bracelet is concerned, I used a fine sandpaper this time ...but I have used a Dremel in the past. I see Joshua has just released a couple of the newer models with the wave dial and Black/orange bezel. Meh.... bezel
  18. Thanks for all the comments... The bracelet issue was bothering me and I have since sanded the sharp edges and gave it a good oiling. Makes a world of difference The anchor looks to be the same size and shape to me. If there are any discrepancies the font size is so small, there is no way you could discern a difference ....even with 200/20 vision...
  19. First off let me say I'm really quite impressed with this watch. Although its not a super-rep , it is definitely is a quality piece You have to excuse the quality of the photos. I'm no photographer and the pictures were taken with a handheld point and shoot camera On with the photos: Some observations: 1.) The GEN looks like has a rather creamy looking dial in some pics but I think this is just a lighting effect. In reality I believe it looks close to the replica ( 2nd pic below) which has a grainy, silvery, shimmery appearance that's more apparent in macro mode: 2.) There are more, closely spaced waves on the GEN bezel and less on the replica 3.) The lume on the pearl and indices is greener in color on the GEN but appears whiter on the rep. 4.) The power reserve sub-dial is the same color as the dial on the GEN but is whiter on the the replica 5.) Depending on the lighting, the hands and indice surrounds change from dark blue to lighter iridescent blue. This is the same as the GEN 6.) When compared to the GEN, the replica blue indice surrounds are a tad bit fatter GEN: GEN: REP: AR is better than average....seems better than the MMD chrono. The crystal does disappear at certain angles. Still not up to Swiss or Chief standards though The concentric rings on the 6-oclock subdial are done well and the cyclops over the date looks close to the right magnification But obviously, due to the movement difference, its position is a little lower on the dial Dial printing looks a little sloppy (note the "6" in 1846) ...and may be a little lighter red than the GEN Bracelet feels somewhat tinny with sharp edges....and needs to be worked a little. The diver's extension and clasp feel solid. (Excuse the blue film and glue on the bracelet). The engraving on the clasp is pretty well done...but not quite as sharp as the GEN. GEN: The plate for the serial # should be SS not brass Crown...no thoughts Obviously the GEN has a closed case back...so hopefully the factories will correct that flaw. ] The lume is better than my picture implies, but pales in comparison with the torch-like GEN lume however it only lasts a few seconds before it fades: GEN: .......and the obligatory wristie: Final thoughts.....although not 100% accurate, this is still a quality rep. I'm very happy with this for the price. If you're still on the fence....Go for it.
  20. Other than the time-bomb movement, the sub-dials on the new GEN daytona are larger and tighter than the rep. Quite obvious once you know its there. Sorry if I ruined the watch for you.
  21. I was a the Tourneau sample sale yesterday and they had a few solid gold /black dial MMD's on rubber strap and bracelet. Marked down 50%.....still $14,000 for the rubber strap version. What a heavy chunk of gold. Absolutely stunning! Can't wait until they rep this one
