Skinny Wrists

Hi, im new here, new to the whole watch scene really. The reason im going for a replica is because i wana see if my arms can pull off a watch. Im very skinny you see, so im wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which watch would be the best for me. Any advice would be great, links to products, etc etc.

With the current trend to wear big watches, I think things will be working in your favor. Maybe try a Rolex Explorer 1, AirKing or DateJust.

Tip: never mind, just pick the watch you like.

For skinny wrists I recommend something along the lines of a Rolex Datejust and/or Rolex Day-Date.

To be honest, it depends how skinny your arms are. I have a 6.75" wrist and can wear pretty much anything from the Rolexes to Panerai 183s. If you get whatever you like, you'll get used to the size in no time. I first got a Rolex Sub and was scared by how big it was. Now, it's one of my smaller watches and even Mrs Pugwash, who thought it was too silly and way too big when I first got it, considers it a small watch.

If you have a 6.5" wrist, you can pretty much wear anything apart from the real monsters.

My wrist is 6.7 and this is how Omega Seamaster looks on my wrist (photos taken at same session ):

The seamaster is cca 41.x mm in diameter.

Btw is Rolex Submariner smaller than omega SMP? Is it exactly 40mm? Or like omega cca 41.5mm?

Don't worry about the size of your wrist- it is all in how you carry yourself. I have really skinny wrists ( I can wrap my hand around my wrist and overlap a little ) but I wear PAMS.

You can start out with subs 40mm then try some PAMS 44mm and when you feel brave go for the 47mm clocks.

I've never measured my wrist before, but i just did and theyre 8 inches exactly. Is that quite big?

I was interested in the IWC GST but after reading it was 40mm it could look quite small. It seems a fiddy is the way forward

My wrist is 6.5 to 6.75, depending on how snugly I pull the tape when I measure. In my opinion, 44 mm Pams look good on me, but my favorite watch size is 42 mm, which happens to be the size of the SMP as pictured earlier in this thread.

But it's not just diameter that you need to think about. Some watches are thicker than others, so a 17mm thick watch will naturally look bigger on a skinny wrist than a watch of the same diameter that is only 10 or 12 mm thick.

Guesswho, you have a lot more leeway in watch size than the rest of us. I see a nice big Navitimer or Bentley in your future.

How skinny is said wrist?

Mine is on the thinner side at 6.80", but lots of +/- depending on weather, etc.

36mm Royal Oak

36mm DateJust

40mm Sub

40mm Daytona

44mm Panerai

Ultimately, I think it depends on the shape of your wrist as well. If you have a flatter, more oval shaped wrist, you can get away with wearing quite a few different styles, especially ones with long cases and integrated lugs like the Royal Oak which have a tendancy to overhang if your wrist is of a rounder shape (did that even make sense?!).
