  1. ...and I was just logging in for the first time in a couple years to see if The Zigmeister was still around. Glad for him, sad for us. A few of my classic beauties need some love!

Looks fantastic, thanks for the great pix. How good is the gen lume?
  3. What a coincidence. I don't think I've logged-in since the last mag run, but I just randomly decided to check to see if it was ever sorted out. Glad to see it's solved, bummer that I have a cyclops from the last run sitting around somewhere. Thanks for your diligence. Biggest bummer is that my hour hand is a little misaligned, hopefully I haven't jacked the movement.
  4. I've used tea and coffee - had more success with coffee. The oven trick is intriguing I'm going to give it a whirl. Marble, did you really put your dial and hand in the microwave, or an oven?
  5. Thanks for the pics, looks pretty sweet on the wrist!
  6. JLC RDM is a reasonably close rep at a good price. I think the most glaring tell is the red tip on the seconds hand...
  7. For a GMT function which "works as it should" you really have to go back to the CHS version. Just as long as you either are not planning to use the function very often or are comfortable with the risk of failing. That said I think CHS, plus a v2 bezel, plus (should the community find a resolution) an AR'd cyclops would be pretty special. Otherwise DemonSlayer's recommendation is quite good and far less costly. FWIW I have a CHS which is worn often and has had zero movement issues... while few and far between they do exist. Good luck with the purchase!
  8. Chief just let me know if you need another AR'd cyclops to experiment with, I'm in your neck of the woods.
  9. Oh yeah, here we go! Where there's a will, there's a way Happy to support the experimentation as I can.
  10. Also willing to participate provided lume and dial print are marked improvements.
  11. In for a flat 3 for a 2846 (not sure which thickness is appropriate). Silver would be cool, but beggers can't be choosers. Thanks!
  12. I have the pmwf insert - it's great, fits without any modding. Good luck.
  13. I'll play - my guess is the one above the datewheel... but if I was smart I would break-out my AR'd cyclops before answering. I have yet to tackle this mod as it feels a bit daunting. Really looking forward to learning some best practices.
  14. I've been waiting for this topic. I have my cyclops... anxious to hear a replacement best practice.
  15. I've been waiting for this one for a while as well. Hopefully our patience is well rewarded.
  16. Take care CBR, hope to see you back in a bit
  17. OK, my cluelessness doesn't seem to be inspiring many posts. Anyway, I have the balance wheel off and am trying to get a peek at the stop lever to see where it is and, as per an old post by The Zigmeister, see if I can 'jiggle' it back into position. Problem is I am having trouble seeing anything that resembles a stop lever... I'll keep stumbling along, but any advice is much appreciated.
  18. Could it be an issue with the hack mechanism, with the stop lever (hacking lever some call it? - not the yoke...) not being disengaged? My balance wheel seems to swing freely but it doesn't continue to move. I'll keep researching but thanks to anyone who knows a quick way to check on this - can I see the hacking lever position without removing the balance [censored]?
  19. Movement winds but doesn't run. The keyless works appears operable with exception that the seconds winding gear doesn't engage - kind of weird. I can roll the seconds gear though and get it to wind... also winds fine via the rotor. I can't see anything obvious and am on the verge of tearing it down just for the heck of it... Any troubleshooting tips before I go crazy on it? Gears I should try to roll by hand, etc?
  20. I'm sure you've done it already, but double-check to be sure all the gears in your works are facing the correct drection, the pieces are all in their proper locations. Sometimes when screwing things back together some of the parts slide around...
  21. Very nice! <glances at his completely dismantled, dead movement 1665 and sighs>
