lanikai Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 After 2 years .. the 3717 was appealing to me again.. so off it went to Canada.. for a Valjoux swap and a date wheel that I have had for 2 years also,.. so Ubi's cousin with a white dial..although I wanted a German date wheel and thought I ordered one from cousins a long time ago.. obviously I did not do well in High School German.. but another parallel with the Ubi Man .. inside info.. Thanks for viewing AC/Lani
nakortheblue Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Classy! Just wondering why the preferences for German DW? I've seen various other members do this.
trombone Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 hi lanikai, very nice watch, i have the same and it
Tribal Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Classy! Just wondering why the preferences for German DW? I've seen various other members do this. Its not a German DW!!
modelizer Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 ..although I wanted a German date wheel and thought I ordered one from cousins a long time ago.. obviously I did not do well in High School German.. Great looking spitfire anyway! Wear it in good health!
nakortheblue Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Its not a German DW!! looks like I failed my high school German as well.
lanikai Posted January 11, 2010 Author Report Posted January 11, 2010 No it's not a German date wheel.. it say's Dom, I believe Sunday would of been Son. Northd .. German DW are seen because of the origin of the Pilot watches,.. . . @trombone.. I have a chiefs AR that I need to get onto the watch... the one on now is a stock rep AR.
Toadtorrent Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 I love the spitfire...a classic. Is that a Spanish DW??
JohnDorian Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 These are great reps. The 0 on the 10 always kills me on these though. It's like the B in EBEL. Almost all the reps have these two markers applied on crookedly.
valerian Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 it is in fact Spanish That's quite cool, I think. Could be italian as well, couldn't it? Val.
ubiquitous Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I think the white dial is visually very striking! Nice variation on the Flieger. I also like the Spanish datewheel; to be honest, I didn't even think twice about it when you first posted, and thought it may have been German (since we were talking about it a few weeks back). It wasn't until I looked at mine and realized the days were different Great looking piece with a nice engine under the hood, Lani! I may have to eventually pick one of these up (maybe after my other IWC projects are finished ). Cheers, //ubi
lanikai Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 Yupper, my Spitfire was still in transition.. I got the day wheel a couple of years ago.. but I did tell you it was a German one.. could of sworn I got it.. I like the ss on this white dial.. and the bracelet is very comfortable.... a honey tan gator looks good also..
Slartibartfast Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Superb work. What a great looking dial. One of my favourte IWC models!
spooky driver Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 it is in fact Spanish i think all the non English DW look class...it gives the watch a more gen look me feels
spooky driver Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 These are great reps. The 0 on the 10 always kills me on these though. It's like the B in EBEL. Almost all the reps have these two markers applied on crookedly. i really wish you hadn't told me that
Flashman Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 It is a great looking watch. I just wish they would rep the dial closer to the gen.
trombone Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I have the same watch and i too like it a lot. I removed the factory A/R and now the coloure of the dial is more like the gen. The Rep A/R give
OSRep Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Another stunning piece from your collection Lani! Felicitaciones
simzger Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) This is in my opinion an italian datewheel. Dom = domenico = sunday in switzerland, where ETA (and myself) is from, there are 4 official national languages: - german (northern switzerland) - italian (south) - french (west) - r Edited January 20, 2010 by simzger
