Guest Sql_pl Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Another beautiful piece arrived today! I was always tempted by Grand Carrera line by TAG Heuer, even though I don't really like most other models of this brand. Now when our Chinese friends released the Caliper Chrono I decided to give it a try. And I am glad I did. Watch arrived today, safe and sound. I am very impressed with quality and ateention to detail, especially on a piece like this with fairly complicated dial. Watch has great double AR with gen Breitling-like hue. Very nice bracelet. Clasp is a bit difficult to open but I will try to oil it later. I really like this innovative design in which TAG uses rotating discs instead of regular hands. Inner bezel with caliper scale rotates nicely. Very nice rep with true gen-feeling to it. If you are on the fence with this one - jump. You will be satisfied! I will let pics do the talking now. Size comparison with DSSD: Wristies: What a nice feeling it is to fill a box of 4 in two days Thanks for looking!
spontaneous Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Nice collection you have there SQL. This watch is actually next on my list of purchases, glad to see a member giving it a thumbsup. I am torn whether or not to go the SS band or go with the calibre 36 limited edition version with black bezel and rubber band (uve made my decision now harder i was leaning toward the limited version). Looks great grats on ur purchase
Toadtorrent Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Wow...that is a nice piece...great pics as always. How does the caliper work or is it non-functional?
Guest Sql_pl Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 It is fully functional in this rep. It is a rotating inner bezel like in Aquatimers that you move via crown at 10 o'clock. Here is a nice video showing how it works: And one more:
chiman12 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Geez, that is a super looking rep. Have you compared it to pics of the gen?
MasterOfPuppets Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 This piece is just Gorgeous! The Grand Carrera Line has outdone it self once again Congrats Edit: What are the dimensions on this one? diameter, thickness??
AmStaFF Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Nice Watch, I am waiting for my Tag from PT, it must be here in a few days
strattakan Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Fantastic rep, i am waiting for it for a long time. But...(always have a but in rep world) looking at 10'o clock pusher, the scale one, the red paint splash outside the space, painting the pusher. it's a idiot qc flaw in a rep of this value...
chrgod Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Thanks for the little review. I really like this one. Impressive caseback engravings. The caliper system is just übercool!
By-Tor Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Great wrist shot... finally made me realize how awesome this watch looks. Congrats!
nikki6 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I got one of these in quartz when they first came out. Have been waiting for this release for ages it seems!! Really glad you like it SQL, it's made my mind up for sure!! Would you mind saying who you got it from? Sixx
Iron Mike Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 That looks to be a significantly better rep than the black w/quartz movement that I have. I still like mine, but that is damn pretty.
Toadtorrent Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Ok...that's pretty cool. Very nice piece...
OSRep Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 A very cool watch! I love the depth of the dial..........and case thickness....even better if it has a functional rotating seconds disc......Great pics too mate.....enjoy!
AMK000 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Your pics are by far better than the dealer's ones. Pins on the the bracelet ??
Guest Sql_pl Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Thanks for kind words. Yes bracelet uses pins and to be honest, now I'd prob take it on rubber.
ubiquitous Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 M- How thick is this beast? Looks quite massive! But amazing details, dial, function!
MasterOfPuppets Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I read in another post that its 19mm thick?! Say it ain't so!
ubiquitous Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 19mm?! Yowzers... That's about 3.2mm thicker than gen... And maybe a little too top heavy for my wrist
MasterOfPuppets Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Mine too Ubi Those Grand Carrera models are pretty accurate, but not when it comes to thickness What a shame, for those with "not so big" wrists!
OzTag Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Wow, that looks amazing. I thought I had all the tag I needed with my link chrono....... Now im not so sure
Smoov Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Mine arrived last week, the thickness is 16.2mm not 19mm. I'm very happy with it. Looking forward to purchasing more Tags. 1
zbig Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I bought this tag from sql_pl. the thickness is 16.2mm not 19mm to.
