TwoTone
A Bit busy up there right now TT. Sure you can get a hotel room? Yes... A room in the Couv is easy... Whistler is a complete different story though... Plus it's [Whistler] a 3 hour bus ride from Vancouver... Road is closed because there's no place to park up there, so bus is the only option... Really just wingin' a road trip... Only a 5 hour drive from Portland... And I've never been there... Weather is supposed to be nice all week... So I'm off and running... Worse case scenario - I have a great week and come home... Best case scenario - I fall in the love with the place and never leave TT

Best case scenario - I fall in the love with the place and never leave TT Well i have to admit, i fall in love with the place. Some pics to get in the mood... Whistler From Vancouver to Whistler Vancouver As to dining, i am a sucker for italian food. Vancouver North on Lonsdale Ave there is Braco Cucina. Excelent red salmon. Downtown there is Don Francesco, also excelent red salmon... I guess i like the BC red salmon Have a great time. hackR
TT -- Vancouver is one of my all-time favorite cities...and i live in NY...after one business trip i was hooked...took my wife there with frequent flyer points for a 4 day getaway years ago...great people, great food, great "entertainment", great value... enjoy - R
Toadtorrent
Whistler is great. Vancouver is great. And now the world knows just how rainy it actually can be there. The best part of the place is obviously the geography. If you can get a chance to ski, it's wonderful. It will be a bit loony there with the Olympics...but, try the Rim Rock Cafe...amazing food. The whole ambiance of Whistler is casual elegance...chinos generally...no need for suit and tie if you don't want to. It's geared around people being active there. They had amazing Ahi tuna when I was there.

modelizer
Vancouver is just plain awesome! Going there on a business trip again next Wednesday! If you're still there next Friday Double T (and anyone else that would like to join of course), let's hook up for some after work beers!
stilty
Make sure you stop by the Hotel Vancouver (Burrard and Georgia) when you are in town. Omega has set up a boutique for the Olympics. Watchmaker on site to answer questions and show you the 2500 calibre up close, as well as a lot of eye candy. If you see Kay
Glad you like my city. I'm in on Olympic duty here till the end of February. Some days have me up at 5am and other days have me staying till 1am. Yes, it is chaos here. But anywhere outside the Olympic venues and outside our downtown, it is normal. stilty
But anywhere outside the Olympic venues and outside our downtown, it is normal. definitely not normal. anywhere outside the zone is a ghost town. small business is hurting in a big way. Main Street: Dead South Granville: Dead 4th Ave. Dead Broadway: Dead And downtown is turning into a zoo, and I'm sad to report it feels like the spirit is leaving. Far too many drunken punks in from the burbs causing trouble. Thousands of douche bags that don't give a [censored] about the games roaming the streets tonight. I hope it is just a weekend thing and the true spirit comes back. The wife and I were out for a walk after the Germany/Belarus game, and we did not feel safe on the streets tonight. Not good vibes out there tonight. I'm worried that if Canada does not win gold in hockey, we are in for a replay of the 1994 stanley cup final. TwoTone
Well I'm back... Thanks a ton for the replies and PM's... Bolted out of Portland at the beginning of the week on a whim... Couldn't of asked for better weather... Sunny and in the mid 60's [18c]... Spent time in Vancouver proper, Victoria, Port Angeles Washington, and some time on the coast... Tuesday evening in downtown was awesome after the Canadian win over Norway... The vibe absolutely rocked... @T - would love to hook up on my next trip up... Here's a few random iPhone shots...
