I decided to document (somewhat) my 205A build.

The FGD 205A dial was lumed with a mix of plaster of paris and NoctiLumina, which I tinted. It worked perfectly as it does not glow brightly and does not last very long. Just like tritium would be. At this point, the dial had not been sprayed with lacquer yet. For that matter, it probably wasn't even dry yet :)

Now the dial is finished with two coats of lacquer. You really can't tell from the pic, but the lacquer does darken the lume, so go a shade lighter than what you want to end up with.

Dial off to replace the cannon pin.

New cannon pin polished and installed.

Dial mounted to back plate and installed.

Tinted hands ready to install.

Sorry, went crazy with anticipation at this point and forgot to take more pics :Jumpy:

Finished product ...

The case is a short lugged EL with no strap dimple. It has been drilled for Pre-V screws. The crystal is a replacement of unknown origin with no AR. The CG is a Nembo and the crown is from Tourby.

Beautiful job M!!! I think the color of the tritium is perfect!

I am currently embarking on a few projects as well... Hope I can pull it off even half of what you've done here!!

Looks great! I suspect we'll be seeing more of these as other folks complete their builds. This is a good one to kick it off.

Congrat! Beautifully done indeed.

BTW, what lacquear did you used? Is it a DSN case set?

It's an old EL case with no strap cut outs. I used your run of the mill craft store lacquer ... nothing special :)

Whoa! That's amazing! You can see the difference the lacquer makes...great work...congrats and wear it well:)

Awesome result, mate.

So are the numerals and markers still recessed even after lume was applied?

I've got a 201/A FGD dial incoming, still mulling over what to do with respect to aged T-lume.

cheers!
