One of the problems of some reps is the tube where the crown is screwed, because the steel used is soft and the tube-screw is damaged after some use. The result is that you cannot screw the crown any more.

For Oris Carlos Coste rep we found a solution, in this tuto:

Now we solve the same problem for the UPO. The owners of this rep are complaining about the same issue

just when you think it couldn't get any better.... francisco goes and does it again! now if only we had lathes laying around our houses.. this mod would be a sinch!

Thanks for the tutorial Francisco. I was really hoping that the new tube would be a straight swap, how unfortunate. Importantly however it does allow for a second option instead of being stuck with 'gen tube + crown'. :good:

I don't see any reason this couldn't be done with either a Dremel or small drill press and a file. Spin it and file it down to size.

Somebody try it and report back.

Thanks Francisco, how much had to be removed from the out side and the end of the tube?

the end of the tube is just a bit... in this way the crown touches the case when the it is screwed.

about the outside diameter...it is not a bit. I did not take measurements... you finish when you can screw the crown.

Francisco

just a note to confirm that the same procedure can be applied to the chrono UPO, the new rep with modified movement to have subdials in correct position.

I have just repaired one of these reps.

Francisco
