pman
I was in my Costco (for those outside the US, Costco is a discount retail store/warehouse that sells pretty much anything and everything) the other day and walked by the watch section. Much to my surprise they had a 14k Patek and a 5k Breitling for sale. I wonder what other "watch finds" are out there. Does anyone else know of high end watches being sold by discount outlets? Add pics and info to this thread. It will be interesting to see if this is more common than we think.
patinga
Just go on Overstock.com. They have AP's, Omega, Breitling, just about everything. It is suppose to be a discount wholesaler website but they sure seem to be selling the Premier brands at a discount.
Toadtorrent
They sell Subs, DJ's, Omega Speedies, Mont Blanc and Tags at my Costco...no Pateks or Breitlings though...not much selection either.
freddy333
I guess the next thing will be Ferraris & Maybachs ('Rollback' priced at 2 for $259,482.66) in Walmart tire departments. So much for haute horlgerie ('high watchmaking').
HauteHippie
And they sell good liquor... (at least I *think* I was at Costco when I took this shot).
pman
Chief, Now I understand why your AR service is sooooo expensive. It has to do with your taste in single malts!!

subbiesrock
And they sell good liquor... (at least I *think* I was at Costco when I took this shot). You Yanks should consider yourselves lucky to pay so little for top quality booze... The Aussie dollar is .95 to yours at the moment and we pay double these prices, minimum. I couldn't get these prices Duty Free... As for the Flying B, not my cup of tea in particular, but they're going for 13,000 on FeeBay and similarly on other websites. HauteHippie
LOL! I think you're right.... (about the bevmo part). In any event, I'd love a sip of the Macallan 25 year. I suspect I'd like it even more than the Fine Oak 30 year variety. And at $600, it's 40% cheaper too! PS. Ain't it just a little silly to put Glenfiddich behind lock and key and RIGHT next to the Macallan to boot!

cougaree
Isn't that if you drink two of those 18-year ones, you've gotten yourself a 36-year one? Sorry, I'm being stupid Not a drinker myself.
Toadtorrent
Toadtorrent, How much for a sub in CDN and US$? They haven't had one for awhile...if I remember right it was about $5,000 CDN + taxes.
krpster
I heard that the luxury brands (Omega specifically) won't honour warranty if purchased at Costco. Not sure if this is true or not, I have no facts to substantiate but I am sure I had heard that before.
ubiquitous
krp- You are correct. The pieces sold in Costco are typically grey market; warranty may no longer be valid. In the case of Omega, the serial might have a strike through, indicating it as such a piece. I also wonder how Patek would feel about their prestigious brand being offloaded at a Costco

In Norway we have a commercial from a HIFI specialist that says: "I don't want to buy my stereo from a guy selling washing maschines!" It's a good saying... As for the 25 yr old Macallan, we serve it at my restaurant. We sell 4cl for about 110 usd... And it's REALLY good single malt. I personally prefer the more rich and crude taste of the island whiskys like Lagavulin and Laphroaig, but as far as highland single malts go it's definitely the best

I can drink it, but don't particularly enjoy it. Lagavulin I have yet to try, and being an Isla, I know it too will be peaty. But I think it has different layers of taste (so I've heard) as opposed to Laphroig which seemed to me to be all smoke all the time. At this point my personal favorite is the 18 year Highland Park. It's just phenominal. I get toffee, spiciness, and a smokey finish. Just the right amount of peat. Just the perfect scotch for me.
jchurch
My costco has some raymond weil, movado, and breitling. I haven't bought any because I have seen the prices cheaper online amazon has cheaper prices on the raymond weil and movado and the breitling prices were near what you can buy online for. Haven't seen anything like a patek though at mine. And on the car topic a few of the warehouse stores (sams and costco) have cars for sale also. Sams had some fords prices were around what the employee pricing is at my company and I think they had a boat and jet ski the last time I was there. The costco had some hondas lol I could see some higher end cars being sold at the ones in the nicer areas.

Bike Mike
Most of the watches sold at Cosco can be had at AD's for the price they sell them for. Most of the time, they are the unpopular models such as the Fly's B. I have seen these for 60% of AD's as they never sold well so they are just trying to break even. At least with a AD you will get your warrenty.
