belixxx
Hi, I've purchased a Tricompax Navitimer TT with the 28.8 A7750 a month ago from Mary. Everything was perfect until last week one morning I saw it had stopped at around 3 o'clock. I have given it a few gentle shakes, and it started right away, so I forgot about it (I told myself it probably didn't get enough wrist time the day before). Then another week went buy without a problem. Yesterday morning it stood still again, so yesterday evening I gave it a few shakes (about ten) before I went to bed at around 22h. This morning it was at 5:59 and not moving. However it starts up right away anytime I give it two or three shakes. What could be wrong? Is a few shakes not enough to charge the system to go on for atleast 10 hours? Should I give it 20, 30 or how many shakes to have it fully loaded and be able to see how long is the power reserve functional? To tell you the truth I was hoping for being able to not service the 7750 until the hype on the A7753s go down and get one for my Navi to solve the sunken DW issue. As I've read here that a lot of guys hace this 28.8 A7750 movement unserviced for more than 12 months without a problem...
cougaree
I bought a Ulysee Nardin chrono with A7750 that had the same problem. I just fixed it today. On mine the cause of the problem was the rotor not rotating freely. In other word, my watch had never been fully charged. When you try to charge your watch, do you feel the rotor spinning? If not, you may have the same problem as me. The fix is removing the rotor by unscrewing the center screw and either servicing the rotor or replacing it with a new one. A new rotor can be bought for $50 shipped on the bay.Good luck!

cougaree
I see. Since the rotor spins freely, I'm out of any other ideas, other than having your watch serviced. Good luck with that!

Good luck with that! I have shaken it for 5 minutes, so the power reserve mechanism had to be loaded more than ever before. I have pu it on my desk at 13:37, I will se when it stops. cougaree
Does the rotor spins many cycles each time you shake the watch or just one or two cycles?
RWG Technical
You have to remember above everything else, an Automatic movement only winds as much as you move your wrist, and a 7750 only winds in one direction, and it's harder for the rotor to move in that direction than the non-winding direction. If you don't move around when wearing the watch, it's not going to wind. Here's the test, do this and report back: 1. Wind the watch slowly and carefully with the crown, at least 35-40 full turns on the crown. 2. Put the watch down, write down the date and time on a piece of paper, then check the watch every morning when you get up. 3. When it stops, note how long it's run, if it's been 30+ hours, your watch is fine, if it's much less time that this, something is wrong. You already proved the autowinder works, so if it runs down when your wearing it, your probably not moving around enough, sitting at a desk, typing on a keyboard will never wind a watch... Hope this helps...
andreww
Another thing to look for on these reps is loose retaining clips or screws getting caught in the mechanism and jamming it up. I had virtually the same problem as you when I got my first rep, a tricompax navi coincidentally. When I removed the caseback, I found the rotor screw had come llos and was jamming the hairspring. belixxx
Does the rotor spins many cycles each time you shake the watch or just one or two cycles? Depends on the strength of the move I believe it spins more than 1-2.

I've read that there is no such thing as overwinding the movement, but I believe it had to be at full already cause the crown started leave marks on my fingertips lol I'll update how it goes, thanks a lot! The increase you felt was the bridle end of the mainspring slipping on the inside of the mainspring barrel wall, it's supposed to do this, and you are correct, you can't overwind any watch... Looking forward to how long it runs...

Toadtorrent
If it's running fine with PR for >30hrs...you're doing alright. Try changing the position of the watch after you get it powered up again...if something goes funny with the PR in a different position indicating it only runs properly in one orientation, then something might be off on the movement. belixxx
It went on for 47 hours and 36 minutes. So PR is good. I handwinded it fully again, atart to wear it. We'll see what happens. Thx for all your help!

Thx for all your help! Try not to handwind it if at all possible, as you will prematurely wear gears down that are hard to replace. Try and be more active to wind the watch...perhaps upgrading to Platinum and going to the GGG section might be enough to maintain your PR.

ninjagaiden
Just bumping this on. I have had the same issue with an A7750 in my Breitling BB. I did not realise it winds in only one direction. I store the watch in a winder that winds in both directions, rotating for 10 minutes then resting for 90 minutes. It sometimes is loosing power when I take the watch out of the winder and put it on my (left) wrist whilst working at a desk in the evening. Maybe it would be better to set it to wind in one direction only. Anyone know which direction (looking at the watch face on)? Thanks N
chronoluvvv
what direction does an a7750's rotor wind up ? I've been using the bi-directional setting on the watchwinder all along, haha
ninjagaiden
What wind time and rest time do you use?
Luv2Watch
The bb winds clockwise. as with most reps you can hold the watch to your ear and actually hear if its winding or not
