concepta Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I recently acquired a genuine IWC 3717 case from one of the members, and for the first time i actually have the chance to go 100% gen! Adding a gen movement, dial/hands and strap/bracelet. But then it is not a franken anymore ...so i came up with the idea of keeping ONE of the small rep chrono hands, just to have it 99,99% No fun with 100% gen...right? Pictures will be added during the progress!
redwatch Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Looking forward to it! Congrats on your acquisition!
Lobster Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 i love the idea of the small rep hand.. go for it
Migge Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I have a couple of rep hands I can send you N
concepta Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 I have a couple of rep hands I can send you N Tack mannen..jag har
OSRep Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I saw that case for sale and immediately thought "CONCEPTA" - glad you picked it up man!! Hmmmmm, I actually thought making a 100% franken was a rep-geeks ultimate goal? This ones going to be special! GL buddy
krpster Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Very cool. Technically would it not still be a franken? ie: the whole made up of collected parts albeit in this case all gen. Either way it will be awesome.

FxrAndy Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Going to be good to see in the end, Tell you what dont tell any one what the rep part is and see who managed to spot it
Fi5herman Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Hmm..a question of definition. I would say Gen... It
Guest jsuperman17 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 this should be interesting... now not to knock on logic's door... how close would the price of the gen to this franken gen
concepta Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 this should be interesting... now not to knock on logic's door... how close would the price of the gen to this franken gen Maybe 1/3 to half price compared to AD
Guest jsuperman17 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Mmm interesting.. I guess its the sentimental value that goes into the watch... Being part of the whole process will negate any thoughts of getting a gen huh
Member X Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Dammit, I wish I had the money for something like this!
JohnDorian Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Its kind of like one of those WatchCo Seamasters. I wouldn't hesitate to sell something like this on a gen forum as long as it's explained its a parts watch. I would bet that watch would sell at $2250 or so easily in a gen forum.
AwesomeWatch Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I want this watch!!! Build and sell to ME PLEASE!!!
Toadtorrent Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 That is completely awesome!!! I would use the gen hand...but an aftermarket gasket.
concepta Posted November 2, 2010 Author Report Posted November 2, 2010 That is completely awesome!!! I would use the gen hand...but an aftermarket gasket. ROFL Even better my friend
klocklind1 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Good luck with it, it will be stunning piece
dvn Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Maybe 1/3 to half price compared to AD I would be interested to buy it and can't wait to see the finish product Concepta. I would go for all the way (100%)
Katerchen Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 LOL Rep hands? Aftermarket gasket? You must be crazy Enjoy your new acquisition! George
Watchmeister Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 I say use what you got. And call it whatever you want. And wear wherever you want. Congrats.
