Justasgood
Everyone has seen these Chronotac watches: Right. A cheap alternative to the rep version marked as Rolex. Usually they sell for around $105.00 with an Asian movement. The movement has the look of a Rolex 3035 with the rotor cut-outs and red anodized gear. But check this out: What assumptions can be drawn from this? Watch of el Diablo? Anyway, I found it odd. Have a great weekend, Kurt. Here is another pic of the Ref. #:
panerai153
Isn't this supposed to be a 1655? 1665 is a SeaDweller

marsupilami
they were branded chronomat before. obviously they had issues with breitling so they changed the name into chronotac. these watches are cheap crap.

Cheap crap how? It sells for $86.00 and if assumptions are correct, aside from the dial, this is the same watch being sold for more as a Rolex rep. So what is cheap? It is waterproof (tested to 165ft), it gains .07 secs/day and it has a nice look.
alligoat
I think I paid at least $72 for mine and put a $10 no name oyster bracelet on it. It's been a good little beater, keeps good time. Haven't checked WR or opened the caseback, but the claim was a 23j movement. Sometimes I like wearing a watch that doesn't say Rolex on it. The LRRP from MKII watches and the Avier Adventurist are nicer knock-offs, but I didn't want to spend that kind of money. http://www.bernardwatch.com/watch/AVI21
panerai153
I googled Chronotac, and came up with quite a few reviews on WUS and a couple of other forums. most of the reviews were positive. Pretty nice little 70-80 buck watch. Biggest gripes were lume is crappy (haven't we heard this one before?) and the bracelet is flimsy. Probably because it's a copy of a Rolex Oyster bracelet Some of the folks commented that there were inconsistencies between watches of the same model, which would fall in line with production coming from various rep factories. this is the type watch you can wear while doing yard work, changing the oil in your car. etc. If it gets beat to pieces, it's not the end of the world. I have a couple Alpha Newman's and wear them often. They have the Asian manual wind chrono and are very sound mechanically. Thanks to this post, I just bought the same watch pictured above on the bay for $69 + 13 shipping, but it's on a kevlar strap. Can't wait to get it! Thanks justasgood! marsupilami
i had one of the chronomat models and they were really crap. maybe this ones are better, I don´t know. anyway I adapted ubis motto : quality over quantity.
mjmurphy926
I prefer quality AND quantity. I have some alphas and some chronotacs in my watch box sitting right next to some completed 4 digit franken projects some not yet completed projects and several watches in between, including some seikos and casios. Hell, I even have an old Hamilton pocket watch I wear from time to time. There's room for all!
highoeyazmuhudee
i bought their GMT a few years back and the case lugs said "116610T" it was a bad sub case, a cheap CN rep if i had to guess. the chronotac gmt broke after a few months, the crown got stuck. didnt they also change their name from chronomat or something
