prdubis
Hi there, As it is a recurrent question, I thought it might be great to list and update regularly where to source the best parts for a preV project. What do you think about it? Parts are listed from best to worst. If you want to modify the list, do it, it's just a starter and experts are welcome to update it CASE: JF, 111J, EL, Old Helenarou, Jackson Tse, Getat, DSN DIAL: FGD, DSN HANDS: FGD, DSN CRYSTAL: BigCrown, DSN CG: LH, TB/WSO, DSN CROWN: T48, PALP CASEBACK:Jakob, DSN BUCKLES: Rolexfinder STRAPS: Frogman, MMX
mir36
My 2 cents, best value for money: CASE: Only for a 201a/202a/203a, DSN PreV case with single-side screw in lug. Then drill the holes for the PreV double-sided screw bars yourself. From the pics I've seen, the 205a and 218a don't seem to have the fat lugs. DIAL: FGD. There is no substitute. HANDS: FGD v2 hands, FGD v1, Helenarou PreV CRYSTAL: JacksonTse for some height, DSN CG: TB with some shaping STRAPS: Simona PAV Edited January 17, 2011 by mir36

jitai
I tried Takashi's (aka 2geeks) sapphire crystal for my Pre-As and am quite please with the result. Not forgetting to mention that his asking price is rather reasonable. Here's the pic ... For 44mm crystal, I think Takashi's crystal is recommended. flex
For pre-V, I would not waste a Jimmy Fu case.. They are great for A-F series build. Jackson has strap dimple, so another No No. Here are some pics of the gen..

Cachet
flex, thank you for the very nice gen-pics! Can you tell me from which pre-V watch they are?
dlots
Excellent pictures! Looks like I will need to shape the upper corners on my DNS case... They are much more rounded on these pictures? Edited February 6, 2011 by dlots
flex
The pre-V lugs are more rounded and there is no strap dimple between the lugs (like my EL)
swat_nong
Hi, Does the case of new PAM 005K good for Pre-V?
kimerathon1
Ok so here is a great answer for you: Jimmy Fu cases are incorrect for PreV, they have long shaped Lugs, which are corect for A-F series, not PreV, EL and the 111j Case are the best out there, but I have to say, 111J is better because the bezel height is incorrect on the EL case (it is a little thicker) and you don't need to play with it. However, the 111J case needs to be reshaped a little, here is mine with a little reshaping: Also the Crown I am using is a T48, however, PreV pam crowns are a little thicker, so a Palp crown would be your best bet! So your list would have to look like this CASE: 111J reshaped, EL, Old Helenarou,(Eliminate the others here please!) DIAL: FGD, DSN HANDS: FGD, DSN CRYSTAL: BigCrown, Cartel 177, 219 or 005k crystal, DSN's is still foggy, and not OEM thickness! CG: LH, V, TB/WSO, (Eliminate DSN CG please) CROWN: PALP, T48 CASEBACK:Jakob, DSN BUCKLES: Rolexfinder (he no longer makes PreV, but you can source them around) STRAPS: Dirk, MP Pav90 There you go! swat_nong
Hi kimerathon1, What is "the 111J case needs to be reshaped a little"? At the lug or the case-tube ?
kimerathon1
You need to file the lugs down for them to look fatter, shorter and stubbier, didn't take pictures of the before reshaping, but I took off like almost 1mm off each lug to make it look like this! kimerathon1
Have you changed the hex tube to a round one? Yes sir, not changed, but I used a Dremel and a grinder to remove the hex shape and make it round, also it needs to be reworked so it can fit a T48 crown, so quite a bit needs to be taken off so it could fit. Ultimately, a custom tube has to be made for it to fit a T48 crown properly, DSN crown tubes are to small for the 111j case tube hole. And the Neck of the T48's are too small for the 111J crown tube, but with patience, you can make it fit properly, but to date, this is the best PreV case, considering a EL case is hard to find, and not to mention a Premium to pay for one (think 500USD+)!!! kimerathon1
Just found out something, the 111J and the EL have to sharp edges on the pillow case (where the lugs meet the case) these need to be rounded out and reshaped as well, already did that reshaping and I am really satisfied with the results, so I will post pictures of that later on!
