bertbacharat Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Here is my new genuine OMEGA planet ocean. Let me know what you think. I am always skeptical that my new preowned watches are fake...
bertbacharat Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 Are there tell tale signs?
OmegaPOFL Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 i mean... i think everything except for the case is replaceable.... so i think the only thing you can see is, if the He valve is in the correct position. dial/hands/strap/bezel/dw... all of them can be swapped... i don't know about the CB... and yours looks good gen i would say
bertbacharat Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 Can you tell by looking up the serial number? Are common serial numbers known as fake?
OmegaPOFL Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 take it to an Omega AD... they will for sure tell you, if you suspect it better to be safe! post more pics. especially of the case back but u can blur out the serial #.. and of the date window.

boomer775 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Read any of these - most have gen/rep comparisons Planet Ocean http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/18161-review...net-ocean-45mm/ http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/94512-omega-...rect-sub-dials/ http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/7483-review-...4th-generation/ http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=16355 http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=105530 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...?showtopic=5863 http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...p?showtopic=143 http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=16355 http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=57962 http://repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=54361 42mm (Narikaa version)
danza1812 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Yep I'm going with a gen too. Do you have the warranty card or chronometer card, the serial number should match the one on the 7 o clock lug.
maxman Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 :)It looks gen to me,a pic of the movement would be nice.
plaifender Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Open it up and check the movement. If its an omega movement, you´re fine and dandy! looks great! If it is a fake.. it´s definitely a SUPER franken and worth as muuch as you paid since it realy does cost almost the same to make a super franken as it does to buy a used gen!
bertbacharat Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 I don't have the warrantee cards or the means to open it up. I purchased it for $1500 and it looks like it's never been worn. I'm going to take it to an AD in manhattan to verify.

signumboy Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 looks spot on I wouldn't be concerned . But its a shame you have no cards , but at that price its good

I'm going to take it to an AD in manhattan to verify. Very simple to open. With a good pair of rubber gloves you might be able to open it up with your hands. If not a very rubbery and high non-dusty raquetball will work as well. Or an AD
Stefanp67 Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 In the FAQ section on Omega's site they have a link where you can send in your serial and they will get back to you if it is a real Omega.
Pakz Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 I'd say gen... But it's a good idea to have it by an AD... to be safe. Anyway, great looking watch, a "modern classic"... I'll soon get a rep, and probably a gen at some point in the future
cougaree Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 My gen 45 PO uses 2500C movement. This movement is not 28.8k bph. It's more 21.6k. If the 42 also runs on the same movement, then it's an obvious tell.
bertbacharat Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) I took it to the AD, and its gen. I'll post more pictures. I got to find a bracelet for it now. I may have to purchase it new from ofrei. I can't find a used one. Thanks for the replies. Edited February 9, 2011 by bertbacharat
