bertbacharat
Are there tell tale signs?
OmegaPOFL
i mean... i think everything except for the case is replaceable.... so i think the only thing you can see is, if the He valve is in the correct position. dial/hands/strap/bezel/dw... all of them can be swapped... i don't know about the CB... and yours looks good gen i would say
bertbacharat
Can you tell by looking up the serial number? Are common serial numbers known as fake?
OmegaPOFL
take it to an Omega AD... they will for sure tell you, if you suspect it better to be safe! post more pics. especially of the case back but u can blur out the serial #.. and of the date window. danza1812
Yep I'm going with a gen too. Do you have the warranty card or chronometer card, the serial number should match the one on the 7 o clock lug.
maxman
:)It looks gen to me,a pic of the movement would be nice.
plaifender
Open it up and check the movement. If its an omega movement, you´re fine and dandy! looks great! If it is a fake.. it´s definitely a SUPER franken and worth as muuch as you paid since it realy does cost almost the same to make a super franken as it does to buy a used gen! bertbacharat
I don't have the warrantee cards or the means to open it up. I purchased it for $1500 and it looks like it's never been worn. I'm going to take it to an AD in manhattan to verify.

signumboy
looks spot on I wouldn't be concerned . But its a shame you have no cards , but at that price its good

I'm going to take it to an AD in manhattan to verify. Very simple to open. With a good pair of rubber gloves you might be able to open it up with your hands. If not a very rubbery and high non-dusty raquetball will work as well. Or an AD

Stefanp67
In the FAQ section on Omega's site they have a link where you can send in your serial and they will get back to you if it is a real Omega.
Pakz
I'd say gen... But it's a good idea to have it by an AD... to be safe. Anyway, great looking watch, a "modern classic"... I'll soon get a rep, and probably a gen at some point in the future
cougaree
My gen 45 PO uses 2500C movement. This movement is not 28.8k bph. It's more 21.6k. If the 42 also runs on the same movement, then it's an obvious tell.

bertbacharat
I took it to the AD, and its gen. I'll post more pictures. I got to find a bracelet for it now. I may have to purchase it new from ofrei. I can't find a used one. Thanks for the replies. Edited February 9, 2011 by bertbacharat
