pangustav
I've been a lurker here on the forum for many years, learning through osmosis. Seems like a few folks have been having movement glitches with their Rep 005K's. One topic I have missed or not been able to find is the subject of replacement upgrade movements. Is there a direct swiss replacement and what is the approximate cost? I just want a backup plan when I pick one up. Thanks in advance for your kind answers.......peace out. geestyleed
How about just a Swiss Unitas 6497 off from ebay. About 200$ for a new movement with COTE DE GENEVE luxury upgrade

About 200$ for a new movement with COTE DE GENEVE luxury upgrade I doubt you will get a new gen swiss 6497 for this price with decoration. mjmurphy926
When I got my 005, the hour hand wasn't pointing directly at the hour marker at the top of the hour, so when I pulled the hands to realign, I decided to go ahead and swap the movement with a seagull 6497-2 with the proper 21.6 BPH. These movements have been bullet proof for me for years. You can get them on ebay for $35-$40 and unlike the Swiss 6497-1, they have the same beat rate as gen. Nothing wrong with going Swiss, but there is a huge price penalty.
jkarpas
I did the same and installed a highbeat 21600 seagull in my 005! Works just fine and its more accurate
chefcook
When a real Seagull ST3600 is used the quality, power reserve and accuracy is on par with a swiss 6497-1 in standard configuration after a service. Actualy I would not spend the extra money for a swiss movement as long as it is not a genuine ETA 6497-2 high beat movement. But those are more than rare... So where would I find a high beat Seagull with the standard layout bridges? Preferably EU? There aren't any on the Bay or on the cousins.co.uk page.. bkwbkw
That's my thread over there on w-c. Been trying to do the legwork to get the right parts for an ETA 6497-1 swap, but also picked up a highbeat 6497-"2" from getat. I'll put the getat into my beater 005 and the ETA into my DLC'd one. ongck77
Guys, Getat stated that the movement is from Seagull. Is that anyway to determine whether the movement is from Seagull or otherwise?
