TswissT
I posed this one on another forum a while back and thought about it a little while ago. I kept wondering why my pics looked soooo much better on Photoshop, as opposed to when they are posted on PB. In this comparison, please keep in mind that I do PAY for my Photobucket and checked the box for high quality uploads. I ran across another photo hosting site that costs about the same amount per year. WOW!!! Check out the difference. (I assure you that these pics were identical when uploaded) Photobucket: Smug Mug: Or a little smaller: Photobucket on left: Photobucket on left: Photobucket on left: One more: Photobucketon left: Now I know Photobucket is the norm...But THIS is quite unacceptable to me...I have spent lots of money on a good camera and lens, (because the photographer sucks) only to be shocked at these differences. Not good Photobucket. Even thought they make it pretty easy to post, I am NOT happy with what they do to our images. Anyone know about this or use something different? KB
Yes I would be inclided to show them the quality difference too and ask for an explanation. Ken
jchurch
I prefer smugmug or and flickr for my photo hosting. There is a large difference though.
vafarmer70
What a difference. I am going to have to look into this.
jchurch
I think the issue is some of them compress the images when you upload them. Smugmug doesn't do anything like that but I know that flicker does and pretty sure photobucket does the same. I would be willing to bet that is where the problem comes from. Ronin
I would be curious if Imageshack or Imgur does the same thing. Test? There is a checkbox on imageshack to auto resize / compress. I wonder if the same is true on PB. If you wish to test further with one of your images here are the hosting sites. imageshack,us (if you upload 2 or more at a time you won't get nagged to register for direct link) imgur.com
Jkay
Shameful .. to compress something so hard on a PAY for use site. It's insulting, really. They expect you to not notice .. to just take your money and smile in your face.
