Nanuq
It's a little wintery today here in the arctic wilderness, and predicted to get truly ugly this afternoon. It's already beginning.

Nanuq
Ah, but the pooches won't run when it's windy. At least not THIS windy.
redwatch
Yeah the wind is definitely a killer! I do miss dog sledding though! I used to do it fairly regularly in Northern Ontario. Such a blast. I love snow camping. I love dogs. And I love to hike. Perfect combination! And man those dogs loved to run! I had the pleasure once to take our tour leaders team out for an afternoon. 7 dogs in incredible shape. The snow anchor and foot brake could not hold them back! And since they didn't know me very well, they didn't respond to my commands like they did when he was driving the sled. But they were so incredibly fast!!! Such a rush
Nanuq
But they were so incredibly fast!!! Such a rush Check this out, from the world championship races a couple months ago. These guys are busting over the top of a downhill with a 20% grade and the driver's eyes tell it all... Nanuq
Well we survived our little breeze today, it scoured all the packed snow (8" of it) off the driveway down to glare ice. It blew all the snow off the yard and left a 10 foot drift on the downwind side of the house, blocking the garage door completely. An hour with a shovel and Brunhilda the snowblower fixed it. Now there's a fire in the stove, a nice Shiraz in the cup, and the stars are coming out. Life is good.
