:D We all learn around here for sure.

Most of us look for the older style tube/crown for authenticity of a project, when looking at older models, but if you were to take it to a service center, they will slap in a modern crown and tube unless told otherwise. I cannot wait to find a decent 700 tube and crown for a project. Not better than new, but looks the part and it IS the part.

@Woof there are other for less ;)

That is for a different project for sho'!

@Nanuq,

Definitely. I have seen a few of the ones from "india" that are listed as gens, and are worse than rotted and useless.

Roger that, I bought my Brevet 6mm twinlock crown from him, and the innards are rounded so it jumps when I try to wind it at the crown. Live and learn.

Same here, and the stem part of the crown is so corroded on most of these, that to take them apart makes them self implode. You end up with a pretty crown that cannot be used.

You'd have to go back and search but I think someone here took a Marsupliamiwhatever 702 tube and cut down its length to fit a 700 crown.

I think.... :g:

I think 702 into 700 is easier/plausible. 700 into 702, not so much. The main reasoning to trim down a 702 tube(sacrilege anyone?) is perhaps to have the two o-rings in the tube, as opposed to one.
