fitmic Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 When using Cape Cod, is there anything special to think about? Should I mask the sapphire with tape or anything, or won't the solvents in Cape Cod harm the glass? Thanks in advance.
mjmj Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 I think its a great product. and it smells great too.
offshore Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Won't harm the glass, but it will remove AR if present. O/S
tgchrono2 Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 is Cape God good for brushed ss bracelets ?
DemonSlayer Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Use it lightly on brushed bracelets, to enhance the sheen. Otherwise you can remove the brushed finish and will result in a more shiny polished look.
maxman Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 I get really good results with a CC. Like Offshore says,It will remove AR,so be careful. Then again If you want to remove outer AR,say due to scratches, the cc works great. When it comes to brushed I use a Scotch brite pad. I had a pretty bad scratch on the clasp of my Omega SMPO. The SBP removed It In a few min. Just remember when using a SBP,go with the grain, In one direction. I also find It helps to have the pad slightly danp, eaiser to work with Imo. Between the CC and SBP I've been able to keep my watches looking really nice.:)Mike
Jkay Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Since Cape Cod is a polishing cloth, if you use it on a brushed finish, it will polish away that brushed finish ... use it for polished surfaces only unless you intend to remove the brushed finish.
asf Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 love that stuff. I use CC for light polishing and my dremel + jewlers rouge for heavier stuff
permabull Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 With the Cape Cod, the cloths are a bit rough, so to get a finer finish you can just use the liquid, dab at it with a microfibre cloth and then use that to polish the area.
calatrava Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 love that stuff. I use CC for light polishing and my dremel + jewlers rouge for heavier stuff Do you have any recommendations for where to get polishing wheels and jeweler's rouge for the Dremel?
asf Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Do you have any recommendations for where to get polishing wheels and jeweler's rouge for the Dremel? I use jewellers white rouge made for hard metals. As for polishing wheels I wish I had a table polishing wheel. I just use the regular polishing cloths you get when you buy a dremel. just dont sit too long or else the friction will cause weird marks on your polished surface

offshore Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Maroon 3M are the popular choice. Depends on what finish you want. Green are also high on the wish list. http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=268 O/S
slask111 Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 Thnx offshore. Just placed an order. They only had the green. I just want back to the original finish of an ebel 1911 bracelet. Will be tricky cause the bracelet is made both of brushed and polished bits. cheers
maxman Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 What SBP do you use? There are a million versions. PLs advice http://www.3mselect.co.uk I use the green/yellow. To tell you the truth though Offshore's refinishing pads are made for the job, there designed for the task at hand. The results will be better without a doubt. Mike
