kingkitesurf Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Aha you are the Milano Italy guy... Are these DW cases? You know, two of them are mine, to finance my projects.
Guest RiverwindMDS Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Aha you are the Milano Italy guy... Are these DW cases? Yes I am The one without the engravings is not a dw kit. The other I don't know but it could be.
watcher Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I just wonder how many of us are looking and bidding against each other at the moment. Who else is looking for a VJ72 movement on Ebay! I have the case and hands now but need a movement and dial!
Guest avitt Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 There are now 8 Daytona VJ72 cases listed on the bay! How times have changed. A year ago (when I was shopping) a case set would pop up every couple of weeks or so...and they went for 2-3X the current prices. But then again, back then you could pick up a nice VJ72 movement for about $500. These are good times for the Daytona custom builder.
lionsandtigers Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 here are some movements on ebay if you havent looked already. i dont know much about putting together a vintage daytona, but i'm sure those of you who do know whether or not any of these will do the trick Valjoux 72 movements on ebay
Guest avitt Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I just wonder how many of us are looking and bidding against each other at the moment. Who else is looking for a VJ72 movement on Ebay! I know of about 70 people that you might be bidding against.
watcher Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Looks like a movement is going to be expensive for us all if we want the perfect Daytona I'm trying to source one elsewhere but they are getting harder to get in good condition.
Guest avitt Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 There are now 10 concurrent auctions for vintage Daytona case sets! That's the most I've ever seen, and I'm sure it's an all time record. Expect another spike in VJ72 movement prices, as demand keeps pace with the flood of cases...
watcher Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Well last night I was the lucky winner of the auction for a new old stock deep diver watch with what is described as a perfect working vj72 movement. Bit pricy to say the least but I'm addicted and my condition knows no bounds until I get the CC bill! And now the funs really begins!!!!!!!

I've got two of these VJ72 beauties...But I've stashed away enough parts for another one.... ...or two

watcher Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Very nice my friend. Not sure I'm going to go this far yet but I might once I have the lovely 72 in front of me!
the collector Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 These things are worse than crack..... highly addictive and you have to know your sources....
klingsor Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Add this.... you don't need only these parts.... microstella? engravings ? .... wheels .... many things
the collector Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) some more parts are needed, you are right.... but slowly i should have them.... Edited October 28, 2006 by the collector
the collector Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Klingsor, this must be the same movement you have for your project
klingsor Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 The microstella is the difficult part to find... it seems like there are no microstellas from the 727 sold separately... Keeping my eyes open still.... you will find it only in some exchange expo ..... like http://www.iwjg.com/ new york http://www.eurotime-marketing.de/ germay
klingsor Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Klingsor, this must be the same movement you have for your project my projects are complete since semptember... one has the same movement .... i hope to transform one to the genuine one with about 2000$ in the next future ....
the collector Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) How have you planned to get the engravings done? BTW what dials did you use for your watches, did you get them from DW? Edited October 28, 2006 by the collector
