praetor
are you sure it's 100% original? I'm not a gmt expert, but from what I can tell you, the bezel is aftermarket and the hands seem to come off a datejust XD. Try to get a shot of the engravings. freddy333
Impossible to tell without good, clear macro pics, but it does not look to be a 100% original (Swiss-made Rolex) 6542.

speedbird100
looks like a mighty fine GMT Master 1675 18k with Concorde hands.

Don't where you get it from, but if this bezel is aftermarket it's the best I've ever seen.

Akira
This watch seems to exist http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/no-crown-guard-gmt--id1302685.htm http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/thread/1290122272/1290124831/FS-super+nice+18k+gold+NO+CROWN+GUARD+1675+GMT..14k+shipped
speedbird100
Yep, NCG 1675 with Concorde hands. Not common but not rare either.
praetor
Don't where you get it from, but if this bezel is aftermarket it's the best I've ever seen. from looking at too many sub bezels. I was wondering why it looks so dam big. Then I thought that the case might be overpolished. Edited December 9, 2011 by praetor
alligoat
Nice 1675! I've seen a few of these and they certainly are beautiful watches.
speedbird100
i don't think the bezel is aftermarket, looks pretty good to me! One of my favorites is the gold 6542 with the sword hands. rolex made some pretty interesting 18k models in the late 50s early 60s. several variations. freddy333
i don't think the bezel is aftermarket, looks pretty good to me! 6542s came with coin-edge bezels (so they do not cover the crown like the bezel in the OP's pic does) That bezel may be gen, but it is not 'original' to a '42. speedbird100
That's not a 6542, he has an early ncg 1675
freddy333
I have never seen/heard of a ncg 1675. What movement powers an ncg 1675?
speedbird100
Yep, the NCG 1675 is real, uncommon but real. Two main variants: the Dauphine hand and Concorde hand versions. Here is a Douphine hand from Antiquorum. http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog.html?action=load&lotid=370&auctionid=221 I think all of the 1675 NCGs had 1570 movements. I have to restate, this is really a 1675, and NOT a 6542. They look similar. Do a google search and there are all kinds of references on this beautiful piece. freddy333
Antiquorum is good, but sometimes fallible. So, with something like this, I would feel alot better if I could see the model number (1675) between the lugs (on an authenticated watch). I searched VRF & TZ, but, like everything in my archives, all the gold 1675s have CGs.
RYM
is a 1675 with 1570 movement

freddy333
Does this watch have any provenance?
alligoat
Freddy, me thinks you are stumped! Even an expert can learn something new! Those gold NCG 1675s could have a 1560 GMT (early) or a 1570 GMT (after 64-65). But it was always my understanding that they were very early 60s. freddy333
I am usually 1 of the 1st to suggest that, with vintage Rolex, there are always exceptions to the rules. This may very well be 1 of them. But since I have never seen 1 in any of the Rolex bibles or posted by 1 of senior members of VRF/TZ, I would need to see some provenance before I could accept a gold, CG-less 1565-powered (this has to be assumed, since no pics of the movement were posted) 1675 with simple baton hands as fact. praetor
hmm... I knew it. the bezel for this model is different than most 1675 models. the engravings look genuine based on the example I found below.
