Nanuq Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 We only live once Well said. Live life LARGE. You get to spend this day one time only.
basketbob951 Posted January 7, 2012 Author Report Posted January 7, 2012 Thanks for the support Will take pics of each step and update the thread Cheers
Nanuq Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Boy that's a beauty! I'd keep working on it a little more, to seat that insert well down into the bezel. See how it sits slightly above the surface of your bezel so the side shows? You want to sink it down into the bezel so there's a small recess around its perimeter. Check out this photo, the recess is most apparent at the 6:00 area.
freddy333 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Overall, excellent work. Can you shoot a macro (close-up) pic of the dial?
marsupilami Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 great, how about a caseback pic. ?
Nanuq Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Hmmmmmmmmmm. For a couple of reasons, I'm thinking that's not a genuine Rolex bezel insert. Can you verify from your seller that it's in fact gen? Especially if you paid a lot for it...... Freddy, what say ye? This might explain why it doesn't snap down into the bezel correctly.

This might explain why it doesn't snap down into the bezel correctly. I was thinking the same thing, but I am more ambivalent about the dial & position of the date wheel in the date window? I have not seen enough (verified) 1665 service dials to make any final judgements, but my gut tells me something does not look right there.
